Very kind and helpful hosts and very close to the airport. Spacious rooms and kitchen had basic faciilities. Highly appreciated the electric kettle and the airport pickup.

No soap or mugs or kitchen towels nd cloths in the kitchen. Kitchen could be a lot better equiped. Road is currrently under construction so it's not easy to find the place.

Close to the airport so good for flights at inconvenient times! Tony was very lovely, both picking me up and dropping me off at the airport, as well as organising transport for me into the centre of Dar. The bed was very comfortable and the room had good facilities. Definitely would recommend!

I felt very welcome and they also offered me a delicious dinner for free. The homestay owner and his wife are very kind and caring.

Unfortunately the internet WiFi connection did not work.

A home away from home

The owner - Tony - was a joy to meet and got up at 4am to see me off to the bus station - amazing!!!

It is a very warm and welcoming location. For me it was just one night between coming back with the bus from Moshi and flying to Zanzibar the next day. So it was located perfectly well close to the airport in a very quiet and green environment. The people were super nice! They took their time to talk with me, made very good dinner and breakfast and helped me everywhere. The communication via WhatsApp was excellent! I payed less than 30 Dollars for one night including dinner and breakfast. I would absolutely recommend to stay there, especially if you need the airport the next day.

The rooms are quite basic but clean and big. So no problem for me;-)

Tony, my host and driver, is a very friendly and interesting man to talk to. My stay was very short but, very worthwhile! I learnt many interesting things despite my 19 years in Tanzania. His accommodation is more like a Homestay so, if you would like to experience genuine Tanzanian hospitality, this is the place to stay! The mango he served as part of my breakfast was unbelievably tasty. Tony even gave me 2 to take home to my family. I experienced a very warm and genuine welcome. The amenities are not new but, everything was clean. For me, the short time spent talking to Tony made the stay unforgettable.

I didn’t have high expectations as the price was very low so, there was nothing to ‘not like’.

This is the perfect place for anyone looking for a convenient and quiet local stay not far from the airport. Toni in particular was an exceptional host - very flexible with pickups/dropoffs and wonderful to chat to.

Road under construction

Large property with multiple rooms in a number of separate buildings (houses). Excellent quality water, aircons, fans and even a backup power generator. A proper guesthouse with charming hosts who make you feel at home right from the get go. Any first time traveller to Dar es Salaam can be quickly overwhelmed by the organised chaos of the city, but Tony (your host) immediately puts you at ease. This is a guest house in a quiet suburb of Dar es Salaam about 15 min from the airport. As as added bonus they can also pick you up from the airport which we really liked. They also cook a lovely dinner for their guests and a great breakfast. The price we paid is extremely low by western standards and I would heartily recommend the place for any kind of stay in Dar. If you're looking for the glitz of an expensive hotel, this isn't the place. If however you're looking to immerse yourself in the culture of Dar es Salaam with friendly hosts in a completely relaxed setting this is the place to seriously consider. If / When we're in Dar again, this is the place we will come to.

In some rooms the aircons could be colder if you're a person who wants a sub-zero room.

Tatys Homestay lived up to its excellent reviews! The owners were lovely, friendly and made us feel at home instantly. We also felt safe and well cared-for after a hectic and stressful long travel day and a very early flight out the next morning. And the home cooked meal was delicious! Only wish we could have stayed up longer to continue to chat with Tony. Perfect for an overnight stay to catch a flight the next morning.

It was a bit hard to find as the address is ambiguous and probably impossible without Google Maps. Heads up if you are travelling during really hot weather, that our room at least had no air conditioning, but the fan kept things ok enough to sleep.

Nice people, great breakfast. Conveniently located close to the airport. Pick-up and drop-off were nice and fast.

The room was a bit run down and not the cleanest I've been in. The WiFi situation is a bit strange - there's only one 4G modem with a tiny network range. I'd suggest just leaving it in one spot so everyone knows where to use the WiFi!

Fantastic home cooked dinner for a very low price. Tony, the owner, is a great guy who picked me up and dropped me off at the airport. Definitely recommend!

Far from the city center and beach

Owners were very friendly and helpful, taking me to the airport in the middle of the night (8$usd) and cooking dinner. I wasn't feeling well so didn't eat much, and it was a huge helping, but what I did was good. Only stayed for six hours between flights, but room was clean and water was hot for a quick shower.

As others noted, it is slightly complicated to find. I took a bajaji from the airport, so it was interesting trying to direct the driver using google maps. However, the road is the first right before the Mabatini Police Station and then it's on the left down a short road between gated homes. It's also gated so you can't tell from the outside. If you try to get to the homestay yourself and you go down a hill towards a more woody area with trees and fields, you've gone too far.

1. The host and his wife are wonderful. They worked hard to accommodate my needs. 2. The room was a good size, the bed was comfortable with mosquito netting, the bathroom was very clean. 3. The meals were nice. I was very pleased.

The location is not easy to find in gps. I realized why because it's listed as 'permanently closed' on Google gps. So, if you arrive very late you may experience trouble reaching the facility.

My stay at Tatys was good. I was only there overnight between flights, but enjoyed my stay. It's located close to the airport which is a plus. Breakfast was great! The owners were friendly and helpful, particularly helping me with transport to and from the airport.
