The house was nice. Great layout and pretty well maintained. I would have given it 5 stars except for two things: first, the house was not well appointed. For a relatively small amount of money, I believe they could solve this problem--adding things like steak knives, a cocktail shaker, basic beach toys, etc. The house did not have any of these things which was surprising as most other beach rentals we have had prior have some basic things to make the stay more comfortable. Secondly, the house was not satisfactorily cleaned upon our arrival. The Vacaso staff offered to re-clean that same day (which was nice) but we had already cleaned it ourselves as the kitchen was not acceptable and we needed to cook a meal. This was not a great start to an otherwise very successful trip. I'd consider staying here again but would be much happier if they addressed these gaps.

We stayed in Sweet Retreat for a long weekend and were very impressed! The house was spotlessly clean, including the game room in the basement, the pool, ...and everywhere else! The arcade game would have provided hours of rainy day entertainment, but thankfully we didn't have any rainy days :) Beds were comfortable, towels were provided -- there was hardly anything that wasn't exactly what you'd want. The deck on the top floor did have a view of the ocean, but it was pretty small and off to the side. But the location was still amazing! From the front door to toes in the waves was a 5 minute walk, tops. The public beach access is easy to get to and leads to a very nice stretch of beach. I know from experience that days on the sand can get exhausting with small children, but the house is so close to the beach that you can easily go back and forth several times per day without bother. And, even in mid September the water was warm enough to swim in! The restaurants that we tried within just a few miles drive are all fabulous, especially if you enjoy fresh caught fish. Some favorites were Noosa Grill, Kill Devil Grill, and Tortuga's Lie. Sadly we didn't get a chance to try Booty Treats ice cream shop which was literally right next to Sweet Retreat. I guess we will just have to come back for another visit!

Plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms for 7 adults and 4 teenagers. Good outdoor space. Good kitchen with everything we needed. Close to the beach and within easy driving distance to other activities.

Sweet Retreat is a beautiful home! The home comfortably slept six adults and three teenagers. We loved the decks. The ocean view from the third level deck is awesome, and the swing on the second level deck is the perfect place to relax. The short walk to the beach allowed us to come back for lunch and quickly get back to the beach. The kids loved the pool. Sweet Retreat — we will be back!

What an amazing beach house. Plenty of space both indoors and out to gather with family and/or friends. The beds are comfy and I love that most bedrooms have there own full bath attached. The house is very well kept and clean with updated decor. Located only steps away from the beach as well as ice cream is a true bonus with me! Cannot wait to visit again this summer.

We had a great adventure at Sweet Retreat. Somehow, this house manages to be super close to the beach but still have a very generous yard! The yard is very cool, with an awesome little pagoda which is perfect for stargazing, or getting a break from the water.

The bedrooms are comfortable, and the great room is perfect for gathering. Older kids will appreciate the lower level with a nice media room, arcade, and kitchenette. And the giant swing on the deck is incredibly relaxing.

The ice cream shop next door was just opening, so we didn't get a chance to try it...yet! We'll be back, though!
