Clean towels and clean bedding

No tv in room. No bedside table. No where to hang clothes. No yea or coffee in room. No milk in kitchen. Toilet dirty and bathroom needs replacing. Threadbare carpet in bathroom. Difficult to access property. Location poor.

Everything poor conditions mould in room broken light switch was given the wrong code to the master lock I wasn’t given the door code to my room I expect a full refund

Boiler is noisy. Fans are not working properly. Toilet cistern takes more then 15 minutes to fill up with water! No hangers behind the bathroom door. Salt in the sugar tin. No side table in the room. I have to reach out to my water bottle on the floor. carpets need refreshments as it needs hours to get the staff odour by opening the window.

Downstairs was nice. Host email communications very friendly. Comfortable bed. It was available (train strike meant our original 1 night trip became 2 and the hotel we had booked did not have space for 2 nights).

I dislike leaving bad reviews as this is someone's livelihood- however, we were very disappointed with the accomodation. It is located in a dark residential street, no idea where the 'Melrose' came from as it was a bog standard semi and not on a street called Melrose. Pictures show it is dated but not the damp or the musty smell. Bathroom light didn't work, Bathroom carpet so threadbare you could see underlay in places, very dated decor, bins outside front door overflowing when we arrived. Expected a block of properties rather than 1 semi detached house sharing Bathroom with strangers. There was minimal equipment in kitchen - if I had brought my family of 5, there would not have been enough plates or cups for everyone at same time. It was about 2/3 the price of our original hotel which was city centre but in all honesty, I do not feel it was value for money. It is also a long way from city centre so by the time we had paid bus fares, it was about the same price and no breakfast included. Having been delayed and arriving after 10pm on Friday, just wanted some food, shower and bed but there were no shops open within walking distance, nor restuarants, pubs etc. Couldn't shower due to no light in bathroom. Garden totally overgrown so couldn't sit outside for evening drinks / breakfast in the sun.

I wish there is a hoover so we can clean the carpets of the dirt we may have tracked in. Otherwise is a great place, good location for us as it is close to the university.
