At first I was given a room on the street and it was too noisy. I got moved the next day and that was much better. The hotel is nice and the rooms are clean and very comfortable. The location is great as it’s just on the canal and near the swuare

Fabulous hotel staff and the restaurants are great. The rooms looked great and had a beautiful canal view.
When we first got to our room we found a used hair comb by the bed and the bathroom smelt foul. We ran the shower and the smell went away for a short period. It came back through the night and was very unpleasant.
The staff said they’d look into it but I’m assuming nothing could be done.
Other than the smelly bathroom it’s a splendid location.

Been to some amazing hotels around the world, the staff and rooms of this place was pretty amazing. We now have turned this place into a yearly stop for us. Glad we didn’t stay anywhere else.
They made my wife’s 40th so magical. Only thing I wish I had the ability to do is tip the staff as a group, especially the staff that made our room up multiple times a day, I wanted to thank them all rather than trying to hunt them down individually.

We booked a 10 day stay on the same day we arrived because the original hotel we had stayed at was atrocious when we arrived. As soon as we entered the Sofitel it was like we had landed on a different planet. The friendliness and professionalism of the staff was second to none. They always remembered who we were and what rooms we were in and made us feel at home. Val the bartender at the Flying Dutchman had become part of our family! He is a absolutely the best and even checked in on us when he was on vacation! :) love love love ❤️

We had booked a Junior Suite for just a night. It was a large room with a high ceiling, nicely furnished but quite odd. We checked in early and the front desk did warn us that the available room at that time was a bit funky and had stairs. The oddest design was that the toilet and shower areas were separate and at different levels. The toilet only had 2 small towels and no hand soap or lotion. The AC could just not cool the room enough and they brought in a couple of fans which helped. The room was right next to the street so we could hear people talking as they walked by. Luckily it did not seem like a very busy street. The staff was friendly and we were assigned a 'butler'. I am not exactly sure what was the purpose and how contacting him would be any different than calling the front desk. Anyway, he did help us get the fans for the room. We did not eat at their restaurant.

All was fine. Even though we arrived early, checking was prearranged and room was ready before the normal time. Welcoming treats from room service and assistance with electrical converters were great additions on our only night here.

I recently stayed at the Sofitel Hotel in Amsterdam, expecting a luxurious experience given its 5-star rating. Unfortunately, it was anything but. For a 5-star hotel, I was shocked to find that the shampoo and body wash bottles didn’t have locks. I understand the importance of recycling, but reusing bottles for hand soap, body wash, shampoo, and conditioner without proper seals is unacceptable and unhygienic.
The rooms were absolutely filthy. There was black mold on the ceilings, which is a serious health hazard. The beds were disgusting, and the carpets were equally appalling. To make matters worse, when my wife and I arrived at our room, we discovered that someone else was already in it!
Every night, despite having a “Do Not Disturb” sign on our door, hotel staff knocked and brought us food we didn’t order. The service was atrocious, and nobody ever apologized for any of the inconveniences we faced.
This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. The rooms were filthy, the service was terrible, and I would never, ever consider returning. Save your money and avoid this place at all costs.

The great, staff are friendly and kind. The staff at the lounge bar are especially exceptional. The rooms are very clean and the toiletries are lovely. Bedding is nice. The bad, really hot rooms. It was stifling in our room. Not just warm but stifling. The air conditioning wouldn’t work. They sent someone up and it worked until we turned it off when leaving the room by removing the card to turn off the power, after that it wouldn’t come back on. There was also construction being done on the building that started at 6:45am. We didn’t have a good sleep at all any of the four nights we were there. Location is great and it’s a beautiful building but it was not a great experience and I do regret spending extra to stay there.

The rooms lack USB ports for charging. The windows offer a difficult view and are draughty. The maximum room temperature was 25 centigrade which is too cold for us. Bridges restaurant has a very limited menu. Room was clean and modern with a nice turn down service. Coffee is free in the room but there is the usual mini bar. Bed very comfortable. Lighting a bit dim and quite a few TV channels missing. Online room service menu was inoperative but the old fashioned method was satisfactory. We thought the room was smaller than expected. Transportation can be difficult owing to a one way system which means that a 10 minute walk equals more than a half hour in an Uber. Overall - average to good.

The hotel is gorgeous and the staff is excellent. If you want a quiet room, do not get a canal view. Loud drunk people walking past all hours of the night.

The bed was horrible. The lighting (or lack of it) in the room was ridiculous. The bathroom layout was bizzare. Sink at one end, toilet at the other and shower in the middle. Had to walk through the shower to go from toilet to sink.

We had an issue upon check in and the staff went above and beyond to rectify it immediately. Special thanks to Fillipo, whose actions and generosity define hospitality. He made our stay extra special. If only all hotels could have staff members like him. World class hotel, world class staff. Highly recommended. Will absolutely stay at the Sofitel Grand in the future.
