This place is off the beaten path, but so worth it! You can't beat the views when you are at the top of the mountain...the staff was so sweet and accommodating. The room was clean, parking is very convenient. A unique breakfast is served everyday. If I could change one thing I would have preferred breakfast be served a little earlier..they serve it at 9AM. But that would be my only "criticism"... :) I highly recommend this place and will stay here again!

Nice mt. top views after a .5 mile drive up a gravel rd.
Rooms are primitive. No a/c and very limited privacy since the patio doors must stay open to get air circulation into the rooms.
On-site meal options were a fixed menu breakfast no earlier than 9am or an expensive price fixed dinner by reservation only. There is no on-site bar service so byob.
Nice property but next trip to Highlands we will stay in
Highlands.

NEGATIVES-GREATLY LACKING IN AMENITIES ON THE GROUNDS. NO TV. INTERNET WOULD NOT WORK FOR ANYONE. CELL PHONE SERVICE VERY WEAK.ONLY 2 CHAIRS FOR EXTERIOR SEATING OUTDOORS IN THE COMMON AREAS. OVERPRICED ONSITE MEALS. DIFFICULT TO FIND THE PROPERTY AS SIGNS INTO PROPERTY ENTRANCE DON'T EXIST OR ARE CONFUSING AFTER ARRIVING ON THE GROUNDS. PRICING FOR THE CABINS IS HIGH. MINIMALIST
FURNISHINGS AND DECORATIONS IN CABIN. POSITIVES- HIGH ALTITUDE,3800', WHICH MEANS COOL AIR AND NO AC IN CABINS GENERALLY NEEDED. GROUNDS ARE WELL MAINTAINED AND CABIN WAS VERY CLEAN. NICE MOUNTAIN VIEWS. QUIET ENVIROMENT. STAFF IS RESPONSIVE BUT NOT OVERLY WARM AND WELCOMING.

Great getaway to do nothing. Unfortunatly, that is your only choice.

Used Fire Mountain as overflow lodging for Family Thanksgiving visit. Very friendly and accommodating. Allowed for a safe and healthy gathering with family that might not have been possible given concerns of the risks of the pandemic had Fire Mountain not been available to us. Thanks for your part in our family memories!

The “treehouse” room we occupied had no TV, refrigerator or microwave. The only chair was a foot off the ground and uncomfortable, the sink had no flat surface for toiletries, and it took 12 minutes for hot water in the shower. The road up Fire Mountain was a butt-jarring, car damaging experience. Since we don’t pay for spas or hike, we left after one night and went to a Hampton Inn. This is NOT a boutique (their term) resort.

In a time when there is such chaos it was such a pleasant, peaceful sanctuary to visit. Matt and Hiram were gracious host and we would happily repeat our stay.

Incredible views and location. Cute, clean accommodations. Delicious food.
Only downside is the owners are very particular, and while they mean well, their tone/delivery when you if don't do things exactly their way can be harsh/condescending. I don't think they mean it, but it comes out that way. That added a bit of tension to the overall experience.

Very friendly staff. Clean, cozy and romantic cabin. Great dinner in the onsite restaurant (though pricey). Close to many mountain attractions - hiking, waterfalls, and the town of Highlands which is very charming.

Beware of very strict check in policy!!!
Only two hour windows from 1-6. Anything after 6 was a inconvenience to owners. No tv and little WiFi in rooms.
Overall beautiful property but the owners where very uptight and not very friendly. Asked for restaurant options in town and received none. I had to ask another guest for ideas. Breakfast was good but very small portions and coffee was poor tasting.
Very disappointed overall with the stay considering the very high price per night.

Disappointed no lights going down tree house steps. Misled about amenities. There was no sighns on the main Rd. Just wasn’t what we were expecting from all that was given and told us

I imagine the hotel is gorgeous in the fall. Great views. The rooms are functional, very clean but a bit spartan, which I think is intentional to go along with the relaxing atmosphere. Didn’t have dinner there so I can’t comment on the food. Breakfast was simple and a bit late (9:30) which made other actives a bit tricky. I’d stay there again

Peaceful, wonderful relaxation at this most busy time of year! Fireplace with wood, spa tub in cabin, no TV! Breakfast delivered to our room. Aaah! Great!

This is a lovely B&B nestled at the top of a ridge overlooking a valley. The rooms were clean whites and natural wood. Hiram and Matthew were excellent guides and hosts. We enjoyed hikes we took in the area following their recommendations. If you are an early riser though, be forewarned that coffee/tea are not available until 8:15 and breakfast is at 9:30. The view from the breakfast deck is spectacular. I loved watching the clouds roll through the forest below. Good for a lazy morning, but challenging if you want to get an early start to your day. And you are 5-10 miles (depending on direction) from grocery stores and restaurants. Overall relaxing but takes a bit of planning to make the days work.

f you are looking for peace and tranquility, bird song and mind-calming views, kind hosts and friendly staff, come to Fire Mountain.
The surroundings at the top of this beautiful mountain are restful and still. The cabins are perfect simplicity - everything you could need, flawlessly arranged.
The absence of technology was an additional breath of fresh air. Mathew and Hiram have thought every last detail through and offer the perfect getaway.

Amazing Trip in the Hemlock cabin. Fire in the living room every night then into the hot tub! Sooo much to do nearby and even on site (three trails including a waterfall). Great recommendations by the hotel. Hotels.com advertised free breakfast, which was not the case, but they took care of it. There was also a dog roaming around which stunk a bit (I think from the adjoining horse farm). Otherwise, 5 stars!

A last minute week end get away to escape the Atlanta heat. We were very impressed with the B&B. The hosts were cordial and attentive. The location was very attractive.

Fire Mountain is located about 15 minutes outside of Highlands, NC, which gives you access to all the fine restaurants and shopping while at the same time offering it's own mountain top seclusion. They take the time to get to know you and suggest the local activities that will appeal most to you with all of their local knowledge.

This was our first trip to Highlands in a very long time, and we couldn't have picked a better place to stay. Property was beautiful, lots of privacy, modern rooms (we stayed in the Treehouse) and an amazing complementary breakfast. Close enough to Highlands to drive in easily for dinner, and hosts were terrific in helping us find some great hiking trails for during the day.
