Really great staff

We always try to avoid chain hotels since our hotel stays should be as unique and wonderful a part of our vacations as possible, and Mayfair Hotel Tunneln, a short stroll from the central train station, fits the bill in all ways as a privately run hotel. Friendly and charming Giovanni checked us in and gave us directions on how to reach our room by taking multiple elevators - the first one being really cool and historic - and turning right and left down corridors. Equally friendly and helpful Samina checked us out What really makes Mayfair Hotel Tunneln so special isn't only its history detailed in the multiple corridors with newspaper clippings and pictures on the walls but also the numerous examples of modern art, which the owners collect and exhibit. We could've spent hours just going from one unique piece of furniture or installation or painting, all fascinating in their own right. There are booklets available with details about the hotel's history and all the artwork exhibited throughout the entire building. Since we'd booked only one night, we didn't get to see everything as we wished. And we fully underestimated how interesting Malmö is, which is now at the top of our "worth-an-encore- visit" list. We won't have to look for a hotel, but simply book early enough in advance to make sure we can stay at the Mayfair Hotel Tunneln - there's enough art and history for at least a few days.

Overall very good hotel. Good breakfast buffet and perfect location. The only thing i would like to improve is the wifi coverage in the rooms! Its weak and kept disconnecting!

My grandparents stayed here in 1959. My grandmother immigrated from Hellevik, Sweden to USA at age 16, in 1916. This was her first trip back. In her notes of the trip was a pamphlet for Hotel Tunnelin and a brief description of her cousins meeting them here for conversation one evening after dinner. So glad to stay here and imagine how my grandparents viewed Malmo. I guarantee you she did not wear a backpack and walk from the train station (which is a very short walk). The breakfast buffet was the best on our 2 week stay and loved the long history of the Tunnelin and the hospitality of the staff.

Mayfair Hotel Tunneln is conveniently located near the train station and close to many shops and restaurants. The atmosphere and comfort were phenomenal and service was outstanding. Breakfast was excellent, with many hot and cold selections. This is a historic building, with a great deal of old-world flair. An excellent choice!

Great location near train station, City Hall and around the corner from Saint Peters’s Cathedral. This place is a cool living museum. If was good enough for the Beatles is good enough for me.

Mayfair is a historical and beautiful building. The architecture is amazing. The wine cellar has been turned into the dining area for the breakfast. Breakfast was nice with many options. The hotel is very clean and inviting. Thank you gor a great experience. Highly recommended Strong! ❤️

Near the train station, but you can’t here the trains

The Mayfair hotel is absolutely beautiful, the history and elegance of this hotel is unbeatable. The location is great, close proximity to the train station, the river, parks, shops and restaurants all in walking distance. The character, architecture, art work and modern touches are authentic, stunning and wonderful. The icing on the cake is the staff, who are all wonderful, cheerful and happy to help. The library and restaurant are exquisite, and the dining area on the lower level is beautiful and makes you feel like you are back in time; here they serve a fabulous free breakfast every morning that is delicious and hearty. Hands down, the best hotel and rare gem in Malmo! P.S. if you like thrifting, this is the place to be; every thrift shop look like a retail store or boutique, neat, clean and organized, with the best stuff and great prices. I can’t wait to go back!! Great hotel, location, breakfast, amenities & staff

Best hotel in Malmo. Historical building that has been updated to a high standard. Very quiet and centrally located. Loved the history and fabulous included breakfast in this amazing venue. Formal and dignified staff were very friendly and helpful.

Hotel was amazing, breakfast area dates back to 1300’s, so much history but everything is beautifully updated while keeping the history. Art collection throughout the hotel is amazing. Evening person Saturday and Sunday (Sorry can’t remember her name) was super helpful with ideas of things to do and places to eat. Cannot say enough good things about this hotel.

The history of this hotel is amazing. Unique rooms, not cookie cutter chsin hotel. A true jewel in Malmo, Sweden. Absolutrly the best breakfsst buffet I have ever had!

What a wonderful old hotel. Located close to the train station, Very helpful and friendly staff and close to the main area. Especially loved the rabbit warren of corridors, the relaxing library with tea and coffee on tap, fantastic breakfast in the dungeon. Would defiantly stay here again if I was back in Malmo.

Was a quick overnight trip to Malmo before heading to Copenhagen. Area was beautiful, and the hotel located walking distance to the town square.

Great place to stay that's very convenient to the train station, restaurants, and shopping. Hotel was clean and staff was very nice. The breakfast was delicious and the historic cellar was a beautiful place to eat.

Amazing staff. Helpful with all our questions. When we had a phone lost in an Uber they were helpful by letting it be returned to the hotel as we had to leave for our next destination. They helped us in getting it shipped to the United States. Everyone in front desk and housekeeping were so pleasant and helpful!

Great stopover on our way to Copenhagen. Hotel in a great location to train station and old town. Very walkable. 24-hour garage across the street was easy to use, $35. Room was comfortable, but could use a fan since there isn’t AC and the outside noise comes in the windows. Coffee and tea in the library. Would recommend.

Basic property in Malmo. Nothing special but nothing really bad about it either. The staff for the majority were just ok. Nothing outstanding except the lady who checked me out and she was just lovely. The rest of the staff had the typical Swedish attitude thinking they were better than everyone else.

I do not write many reviews, but I felt compelled to write about this hotel. This was my second stay at the Mayfair Hotel Tunneln in the last 6 months. The first time was great. I think many people come here for the breakfast and decor, both of which are nice. This time, however, our room was not clean. The floor had hairs and loose dirt on them. Also, the staff was not very helpful or honest after they made a mistake with our parking. They registered our car themselves for parking in their lot and wrote 1 number incorrectly. As a result, we were issued an $80 parking ticket. When we tried to resolve this with management, they said they couldn't do anything about it and claimed we input the license number - but that was not true. We were disappointed by this poor level of honesty and customer service. I would not come back to this hotel.

Great service. Parking on lot is useless and may damage your vehicle. Due to level differences. Parking in street ok. No extra toilet paper. Great house. Great location. Great host.
