Property location is walking distance from downtown. Overall property is good for the price. Only negative is that shower/tub had no curtain so we ended up with wet bathroom floors after we showered. Oh and there was a family staying down a few doors from us that allowed their children to run up and down the corridor screaming until after 10 p.m.

Not told was under construction. Rooms bed was a very hard firm king mattress. Drove out the back exit and there was a pile of old mattresses and toilets. All the furniture in the room was a mixed match of left overs ready for the dump. Must be why I had to kill so many roaches. Even after the remodel…it’s a no go.

The trip as a whole was a learning experience and by the time my partner and I actually made it to the hotel it was almost 4 a.m. the morning after our initial checl in date; so we had already lost a day and were mentally/physically exhausted from travel etc.... The staff at The Sands were incredible. From the wondeful associate who checked us into our room to the last associate I encountered at checkout. The rooms are large and spacious and can easily provide a comforting retreat for families or couples looking to get away; as we did. The pricing was incredibly reasonable and I was so incredibly thankful for the option to prepay; which I highly recommended - if You and Yours can "leave everything as You found it" (if You break it You buy it) then the peace of mind at both check-in and check-out are 100% worth it. Just always be prepared to have $150-250 ready to use for the room's deposit (and that's any hotel, anywhere You go ... deposit at checkin is guaranteed) and You are golden. Just enjoy Your stay. The way the staff, especially Henrig and Emma, took genuine care and concern for my partner and I, throughout our stay, was commendable and should be praised by Upper Management. They truly did wonders and made me feel like the most important person to them when I needed it most; and they did it all with incredible grace and compassion. Thank You Sands !!!

Parking was limited,

Thermostat was pulled off the wall, so could not adjust temperature in the room. Also, there was no TV remote in the room, and not enough outlets.

Great place too stay

Staff are good friendly and respectful. However, the room i am in was confortalbe and clean, but Couple lights not working. specially, non of smoke detector working. I had been told i will get some discount on the room fees, but i have not recived any responds.

Nice family suite for an affordable price with nice pool & jacuzzi. The breakfast that is included was very good with some good options and kid friendly.

Definitely a cheap motel though there were worse around us. Our first room was kinda dirty, sheets soaked in bleach, dirty sink etc. Nowhere to plug in your devices. Then the air conditioning broke and they moved us to a much better room. You could see the bathrooms were renovated. But not much else. Breakfast was gross and the dining room icky but I guess no worse than a motel. Staff were lovely but clearly overworked. Would not stay there again unless I had no choice.

The room was clean, but the air conditioners didn’t work even on fan, which would have helped the air circulate. Staff were not very friendly, but luckily we didn’t need them for anything.

The staff was very friendly. Beds were ok. However they were remodeling so there were used toilets and walls strewn about outside the rooms.

1- the parking was full and unorganized. Your website advertises "free parking" not "complementary parking". We stayed two nights and noticed the same people sleeping in the cars. The night staff on Thursday night was no where to be found when we checked in. It took them 5 minutes to show up. On our first night, we noticed people working on the cars in the back lot. The hotel room towels were dirty. The lady working the breakfast station Friday morning was rude, unprofessional and unorganized. You should invest in security to ensure your guests vehicles are the ones parked on your property and not suggested to park on the street. The front desk night manager on Friday night was zero help. I rate this experience at 1 star out of 5 and will not be recommending this location to anyone.

It was horrible and we left after checking in. A/c not really working, refrigerator not working, dirty room, screen missing from bathroom window - view was of old mattresses and trash. Pictures on hotels.com site not the hotel at all. Got money back for second night but still awaiting money from first (did not stay and had to find another place)

Older property Currently being renovated. At this price good location and good value. Plenty of room and parking. Nice pool, good breakfast.

This hotel was a huge disappointment! We stayed in their suit, which was a good size in general, but the bathroom was tiny. Both our TVs did not work at all, there were no any trash cans in a room, only 2 towels for 4 peoples, furniture was old and dirty, pillows were a joke- small square bags with old fillings. There was a great big patio with only one dirty plastic chair. The renovation in a bathroom looks good in a picture, but in reality the quality of work is bed and cheap and not thought through. Breakfast is another story - trash was everywhere, because there is not enough trash cans and no staff seen around to take care of it. One day we came for breakfast, and saw a lot of people , but no food! It was just disgusting! I never stayed in places like that, especially paying close to $300 a night!

I like how the front desk Lady was super nice and welcoming. The front desk guy was very rude and also cleaning staff said they couldn't give me more toilet paper or towels and told me to go to the office instead.

This place is great if your trying to avoid the police or shoot a low budget porno. One ice machine, the p. lot was small and uneven, the bed linen smelled and the front desk never answered their phone. Way over priced for what you get.

Well I gotta say , it is super dirty ! Starting from the lobby to parking areas rooms , pool , jacuzzi, eating area , dirty !!!! Building looks abandoned, some construction going on ! Rooms were decent but not for the price we paid . Pictures on the internet is totally super different from real life !! I was disgusted with the eating area ! Dust everywhere, trash is a bucket over flowing , no one absolutely no one cares for this hotel !! There’s dead flowers , broken pipes , ripped patio furniture , no towels no umbrellas!! I can go on forever but , you see for yourself ! Never again. Never

The TV did not work, the refrigerator was warm at first then it froze our food, the floors were dirty- basically you had to wear shoes at all times otherwise your feet would be dirty. The outside of the hotel I was dirty. It smelled like someone had been smoking marijuana in our room until I bought and sprayed air freshener. Won’t be staying there again. Would not recommend.

Place was not to code . they did not functional smoke detectors and once they were made aware of they simply just left them in the room on the next to the TV. they stated they did not have proper equipment to have them installed, the lock on the door was broken and not functional, the microwave was not working , plug were microwave went had a electrical short ,, lights flickering off and on , TV not working . never never stay here !!!

This hotel is trying to put lipstick on a pig with their renovation. They’ve redone floors and put in cheap new furniture but left the old bathrooms. My first room didn’t have a working tv and only 1 hand towel. They did move us to another room. Old bathrooms with construction dust and caulk in sinks and on bathroom floor and door. Toilet seat was wrong size for toilet. Shower curtain was moldy. No protective flooring outside rooms so our shoes stuck. $347 a night because it was cal poly weekend for prospective students. Way to show families that they don’t care if you ever return. Don’t stay here.

There was dirty underwear in the wardrobe of my room when I checked in. Half the gym equipment was out of order. This place is not worth the per night price. Walls are not all painted in the rooms. I almost left the night I checked in. Stay away.

The staff were ok but we first checked in with the front desk Henry and when we got to the room #1 the A/c and heater doesn’t work and the tv doesn’t work… went to the front desk to inform Henry and we got another room okay this time the A/C AND HEATER works but the tv DOESN’T we took a look at the remote and to top it off there was a battery missing like do they not check the rooms before they get booked? Apparently not… we told Henry again and it also looked like a cable was missing for the tv since it wasn’t working so Henry went to go try to find one but failed to come back… do not recommend this place!!!

We were given a room with double beds while we had booked queen beds. Once in the room, the heating was not working.
