Cheap, welcoming and perfectly clean.

So close to La Gran Via, public transportation, variety of restaurants and shopping. Confortable bedroom. Clean and quiet, I did not experience any noise as I was expecting based on reviews. Friendly staff helped me to arrange transportation to the airport they also maintain my room clean. 👍

The location is great, however the entrance to the building is dirty and its surroundings as well.

It was perfect except for the loud music on Saturday as our room was right in top of a bar. For us that wasn't a deal breaker but maybe it is for you

If you are looking for night life this is your place. If you are looking for some rest then no. Great staff, very helpful. However there is a night club right below so they are up partying in the street below our balcony until 8:00 am, every night and morning. The street washing crew came through on our last day and they were forced to leave at 8.

Room smelled, pillows were pretty uncomfortable, beds were very uncomfortable.
Don't stay here on the weekend If you want to sleep as it's right above a club. That closes at 6 am

Clean bathroom, clean room, nice people at reception.
Difficult to sleep at night. Strange individuals shouting on the phone all night long, moving the furniture in the room, parking and unpacking loudly.

It was a small little hostal. The location is great and it is rather small, however, comfortable enough. The front desk lady was extremely kind! Would come back just to say hi to her!

Location was perfect! Steps away from Gran Via and so many restaurants, bars and stores. Checkin was seamless and as we are Gold members they upgraded us to the little apartment. This was our first time in a hostel so we weren't sure what to expect but for the cost it was a pleasant surprise! Excellent bed, pillows, blankets and we highly recommend if you are looking for a budget hotel close to everything in Madrid!

Central, pleasant, clean with helpful staff and good WiFi. The decor is simple but nice (as shown in the pictures). Good value for money choice in the area

Great location.
Good wifi.
Tiny room but two balconies - bathroom had own one.
Ask the room at Calle de Barco side because Calle de la Puebla has a night club next door and people outside at the night time.

Convenient location, near Gran Via and in a quiet building. The beds and the bathroom are simple but clean and tidy. It would be nice if they can provide kettle in each room, but you can ask hot water from the reception.

All in all a very nice stay. But it tends to be noisy on weekend nights.

Very cost-effective place; central, clean rooms, free toothbrushes and combs. It was the weekend and there was a club on the ground floor of the building so I could hear a bit of bass coming through the building. Not loud through.

I was disorganized and didnt book a room till the last minute so I paid over $100 US for this tiny room, that being said the owner was very nice and the place was clean and tidy. Coffee machine in the lobby. Its on the 2nd (or 1st if your European) floor of a 6 floor building, really a hostel or pension. The owner (or manager) down the hallway like we were in a private home. So it felt homy and very welcoming like a bed and breakfast without the breakfast. I would suggest it if the price fits your budget. Ive never experienced a hotel or hostel in a building with other hostels and apartments, but again, it was very comfortable, just a bit small. Great location very near Chueca.

We got a deal for $38 per night here at Hostal Tokio. The reception was friendly, we were able to check in early, and the rooms were clean, spacious, and conveniently located to tourist sights, restaurants, and grocery stores. Only downsides were that the shower head holder was broken, and that the wifi was spotty depending on what room you were in - we happened to be in a room at the end of the hall, just barely out of range.

The room was old and the walls were chipping off, theres no kitchen and not even a kettle in the room. The courtyard view is not of a courtyard but of a dirty square in the middle of four walls about 2 meters apart. The shower room looked new and nice but on the first night was no hot water in the shower, only luke warm. The room is very dull and tiny. The receptionist and workers are lovely though. Good location.

It's a small hotel with clean room. Very good location in the middle of the city, close to tourist attraction places. Being close to the main street, it's busy. Having a pub just under the hotel in the first floor makes it noisy. Young street guys in the street the whole night makes it almost impossible to sleet at night.

We were able to walk to the Prado, Buen Retiro Park, Palacio Real and really be a part of the city. Parking was not included and ended up being 50 dollars for 2 days. The parking was constantly protected which was nice. The entrance was undergoing construction, but the room itself was more than adequate.

A little difficult to find...I was standing right outside and still couldnt see it, but there is a small sign (40 cm x 30 cm) about 3 m above ground level. The ground floor is also undergoing renovations so initial impressions werent that great. However, once you actually find it and get inside the hostel it all works. The lady who runs it is delightful, and even though she has no English we managed to communicate. The room, although small, contained everything I needed. The location is very close to the city centre and all that entails (noise, ladies of the night) but overall the location was close to all the attractions and the metro and worked for me. Make sure you visit Cafe de la luz below. It would have been 5 stars from me except the wifi didnt work in my room as advertised. It did work well in the office area.

Excellent location in the heart of the city center. Very safe and very, very close to everything. I am so glad I stayed at the Hostal Tokio. I cant wait to go back to Madrid and definitely stay here again. The Staff was the best. Superb service and friendly atmosphere. The lady at the front desk went beyond 100% customer service satisfaction. I wish you could work at every hotel around the world. A+ and exceptional close to it all hotel.

This is a great place if youre looking for clean, central and cheap. Its only about a 5 minute walk from Gran Via metro station, so its easy to get around on foot or by subway. My only criticism is that the bed is a bit hard for my liking, but Id still recommend it.

Easy to find and get to using the metro from the airport. Nice and central to take advantage of Madrid's walkability. Surprisingly quiet. Only real issue is that the bed was a bit hard for my liking.

The hiatal is perfectly situated in the center of Madrid for easy access to all the major sights. The city itself is really easy to get around so as long as you're near the center it doesn't take long to get anywhere. The staff were friendly. Fortunately my friend I went travelling with could speak fluent Spanish so I don't know if they spoke much English. (Most Spaniards do though from what I could make out from the rest of the holiday) the only downfall with the hostal is that it's very close to a nightclub which was really loud on our last night (Thursday), we didn't check the opening days for the club but I would advise that you be aware of it if you are staying at the hostal on a Thursday/Friday/Saturday night.
The cleaners were very good and even changed the towels when required. Overall, very happy to stay there again - provided it's not on the days listed above.
