Nice and confy room but the flow rate on the shower for the hot water is low and there are stairs to reach the hotel.

Great location and great value for you money

Great location, very friendly and helpful staff. I had a very basic room that seemed very apart from others which appeared quite nice and better maintained. But good price and good shower.

I open the door at 5 in the morning, and confronted with flights of stairs and no lift, lugged my 22kg suitcase. To find that there is NO possibility of early check-in, despite there being several empty rooms. Entire staff consists of one teenage boy, argued with him for an hour to no avail. Instead of sleeping in a room (pre-paid! for 4 days!) after 22 hour flight, was asked to sit on a chair! for 4 hours. Finally, elderly woman (his mother? apparently -- owner of hotel) shows up. Deigns to give me a room. The room has NO window, and is lit by single 40watt bulb. The pillows -- apparently stuffed with STRAW. In the bathroom, the faucet pressure is such that it takes 40 seconds to fill a glass with water. The shower -- similar. Toilet, when flushed, fills the floor with water. A single half-sized roll of toilet paper was provided; it dissolves on the merest contact with the faucet splash and falls to the floor in pieces. Went to the old woman, she (reluctantly, with grumbling) brought 2 more IDENTICAL half-sized rolls of this same "paper". The shampoo pouch in the shower was near-indestructible, you cannot open it without scissors no matter what you do to it. Could describe other "features" of this hotel, but will omit, they are not fit to print. Avoid at any cost. The people who gave these dirtbags positive reviews, are likely paid shills.

Very centrally located. Good staff. Nice little hotel.

This hotel served as an excellent base for me to tour around Uruguay. Centrally located, helpful staff, everything worked well, etc. It's a simple hotel in the center -- nothing fancy but made for a very comfortable stay (including WiFi, AC, fridge in room, etc.). Plenty of restaurants nearby, within walking distance of the historic part of the city, shopping, etc. Definitely a good value for the money and I'd definitely stay here again when in Montevideo.

Room is extremely stuffy with no Windows. Super bad air quality. Pricy room with no breakfast. Bed is quite hard and cold . Heater doesn't work. No help is given to carry my luggage up the stairs. Location is good. Central to key tourist spots. I would stay in a hostel with breakfast for lesser price and value. Not good value for Money.

I stayed at this hotel for 5 days during my first trip to Uruguay! It's in an excellent location with good proximity to the main shopping and tourist areas! There are good restaurants and cafes nearby and the same goes for buses!
The hotel staff were super helpful and there's a good shared kitchen area of you need to watch your spending a little! It includes a microwave and toaster and tea and coffee!
I most liked the helpfulness of the staff! The one small thing was that our room looked over the street and could be a bit loud! By the late hours, it was quieter which was good!
I highly recommend this hotel! Very affordable! Clean! I'd stay here again.

Although it is definitely on the funky side, Hotel Casablanca is a great value. It is clean, conveniently located, quiet, and safe. The staff was friendly and helpful and very patient with those of still learning Spanish.

Room is well keept. They clean room every day. No breakfasts available but microwave is avaialable and fast hot tea is provided for free. The hotel is right in front a supermarket and there is more than one. chinese buffet in front 250 pesos take away. Eberything is near the hotel. City tour can be done by oneself if like to walk. Highly recommended.

Was a good stay. The property was nice with minimal amenities but you can't beat the price. I would stay here again.

Hotel Casablanca is well located for visits to most of the attractions in central Montevideo, with friendly and helpful staff. I was fortunate that at checkin a member of the family spoke English and explained various things, including the locations of some of the local attractions. Most of the staff only speak Spanish. For me the only downside is the lack of breakfast, but there are many cafes and restaurants within a few blocks.

Stayed at the Hotel Casablanca for 2 nights. Great location close to the centre square and good price, air conditioning and wifi.
My room was next to the reception so a bit noisy, also there was a bell that rang when the front door opened so every time the door was opened and closed there would be a ringing noise. The rooms away from reception are probably quieter and better...

Just be aware that they charge a lot of money to use credit card. I did not think this was fair but outside of that it was a good place

Good location, sadly there was lots of noise from the common area during the night.

The location, one block from the main street is excellent. It is near both primary and secondary bus stops, so handy!
It is also near some museums, shopping and great walking. There is a little market across the street as well as a fruit vendor one block away.
The building is undergoing renovations, hopefully they'll keep the architecture intact, very cool ceiling in the lobby!
The bathroom was ultra modern, incongruent with the rest of the decor however very functional.
The staff couldn't figure out how to get the heater in my room to work, or maybe the heater wasn't working but they had plenty of blankets available.
Tomas, the clerk at the desk when I arrived was very helpful.
