Great surroundings, peaceful, great food and great service.
I worried a bit about the wood burning in the chimney for it spread some charcoal onto the wooden floor. Not a big deal.

It is the best Hostería (Inn) in the place, with a wonderful view of the lake and very friendly staff

Restaurant is expensive and the food isn’t very good. $17 trout is much inferior to what you get for $7 on the side of the road outside Quito. Deserts are minuscule and expensive.
Rooms are cold and lack proper tools to manipulate fire. Hot water is never really hot but inconsistently warm.
Will not return.

What a beautiful and relaxing place. There's an excellent staff, a tasty restaurant on site, and many things to do if your decide to hang out on the grounds. It was a very romantic setting with incredible attention to detail. The gardens are amazing. The room was comfortable. They built a fire each night in our room and provided cool hot water bottles to go under the blankets at night, though we never found it particularly cold when we went in October.
But seriously, with Cerro Imbabura rising majestically on one side, and the tranquil waters of Lago San Pablo on the other, it's hard to ask for more. Just don't get too worried as you drive through a very common Ecuadorian neighborhood on the way there. You may think, "where am I going?" But once you arrive, you'll feel like you found a piece of heaven. I sure did!

It’s a magical place. I had this beautiful cabin right in front of the lake. Gorgeous view, gorgeous room.
Food is delicious.
I don’t like they don’t have phones or any other way in the rooms to call for room service so if you need something you have to walk to the reception and at night it is very cold. So that’s the only thing I did not like. Other that that the place is absolutely amazing.

Spent a night here in December to celebrate my birthday. The hotel did a great job of providing security measures for Covid-19. It was very peaceful and calm. The rooms are beautiful and loved the fireplace! My only negative was that the workers started sawing right outside our room at 7 AM. To me, when people come on vacation they want to sleep in, not be awoken that early. I did speak with reception and they were super apologetic and stopped immediately.

The Marina should open on weekdays for interested visitors on the water sports.
The food could be more tasty. It is overpriced for the portion size and for its mid-quality.

I've stayed at Cabañas del Lago at various occasions over yhe past 30vyrars. The property has been well maintained over the years. Loved our stay and cabin. My only disappointment was in terms of the food quality and quantity. I would've liked to have stayed on the property for all our meals; but with a party of five the cost was significant.

A beautiful spot. Stayed in the family cabin and it was a complete apartment. Only wish the kids cabin and water activities were open during the week, they are only open on weekends and holidays. Overall great experience and delicious food.

Great place, beautiful sights, flowers everywhere.
We borrowed a board game and played around our fire place. And we had nice hot water bottles in the beds waiting when we got back from dinner. We did not want to leave our beds in the morning.
The wi-fi is good, the water was hot. A nice place to bed down for the night!
The water activities are closed except for weekends and holidays. I must've missed that detail.
The only thing I was a little surprised about was the cost. The restaurant was as expensive as if I was eating in downtown Chicago. $100 for a family of 5.
And I saw the prices for the water activities.. $45 for 20 mins on the wave runner. That's Miami pricing but you'd get an hour.
The only other thing I'd advise you is that driving out of the cabanas into Otavalo or Cotacachi, you will need to navigate the neighborhoods as the main street suddenly has a road block that causes you to go up and over a few blocks to get back on the main drag again. WAZE worked for us but did not pick up the road blocks.
Last thing, if your kids are staring at their phones instead of at the surroundings, try this game. They had to spot at least 50 stray dogs before they could go back to their ipads. That kept them looking around for at least a good 20-30 mins.

Cabanas los Lagos is a place that left me a bit torn. We really enjoyed our stay--but also felt like it was too expensive for what it was. The location on the edge of San Pablo lake is gorgeous--but you're also captive, as the nearest town requires a 15 minute taxi ride. Thus, you're forced to eat at their restaurant--which is beautiful, with great service--but the menu leaves a LOT to be desired--especially for the prices. (We spent $65 on breakfast one day for 2 adults and 2 little girls!) The gardens are immaculate--but there is some serious deferred maintenance on all of the buildings. There are a bunch of fun activities--but everything costs more money, and it felt like we were being nickel-and-dimed. For example--it's $5 each person for each round of mini golf--on a very poorly designed course. $50 for 15 minutes in the inflatable globe, and more for other water activities. Even going out on their ferry for 30 minutes cost $12 each (including children). Also--the walls were terribly thin, and with no phones in the room I was forced 2 nights to get out of my warm bed, get dressed, and go next door to ask the neighbors to quiet down. Lastly--the resort (especially the restaurant) seem to be a local destination for weekend-goers, and it became unbearably busy Saturday and Sunday. We had to wait 45 minutes for a table at the restaurant despite staying at the resort. In the end, we enjoyed our stay--but wouldn't recommend it to a friend.

We loved it. Great place for our family of 5 (three children). There was so much to do, we wish we had had more time there. The restaurant with the view over the lake was excellent and we ate there several times.

Upon arrival, we were welcomed and shown to our room, which was a lovely cabin, which was one unit in a building of 5 or 6 cabin-units despite having units on either side of us, we heard no noises. The cabin has a very nicely done loft with two twin beds, which were perfect for our boys. TV had plenty of channels and the Internet worked quite well, every thing was very clean and hot water worked well. My youngest loved feeding the rabbits and seeing the chickens and fish that are in the courtyard area. I secretly feared I would hear the chickens in the early hours, but was pleased that our rest was so quiet! (We were there mid-week) We opted for breakfast in the restaurant, and although it was not included, the price was very reasonable for resort food. We were very happy with the variety of foods and fresh juices.Parking was quite secure with a 24-hour guard, the place is fairly remote and tranquil. On the property they have a nice mini-golf course, it cost $5 per person per game, but we were happy to have just one round on the cute and creative course.

We enjoyed your stay very much!!The view from our room was breathtaking From the dinner at the restaurant, to the jacuzzi tub and fireplace in our room, all were very nice. One place for improvement was the food was not as hot as it should have been. The same was true of the Jacuzzi, it did not hold the temperature.Overall, a very nice stay!!

Ecuadorian hotels are typically cheap, and this one is certainly not. It's very well-located on a beautiful lake with volcanic mountain views, but because it's so remote from Otavalo you'll end up dining in the hotel restaurant, which is definitely not cheap.
In a lot of ways this felt like a Mexican resort I went to months ago, only the resort was all-inclusive and this was not. Drinks were fairly pricey for Ecuador, but the real killer was the breakfast. $43 for a breakfast buffet for two. The food was good but nowhere near $43 good.
It's definitely a nice place, but I can't imagine staying more than a day or two.

very helpful staff; they answered every question (even pre-booking). We arrived early, but arranged us a room as soon as possible. the only detail i would like to point out is that the floor in our room was dirty. suggest for families. hot water was nice. not an issue for us, but it can get a little noisy since the rooms are located between the play area and the parking lot.

Perfect little hide-away. Interesting scenic drive from Otavalo on the backroads to get to the hotel. If you drive it, do so in daylight hours! Landscaping around the grounds is wonderful. Breakfast not included as is most typical of hotels in the area. Food and service in the restaurant is good however.
Loved our 1 night stay.

We loved the views of the lake and the comfort of the room. The chimney and the lounge area in the super family cabin is awesome. The restaurant views are magnificent. The food in the restaurant is ok but not fantastic that's why I don't give the hotel a five stars.

We spent one night at the hotel. It is very beautiful, located right on the lake. We had a lovely dinner at the restaurant that sits out over the water. The staff was very friendly and helpful. They lit the fire in the fireplace in our room in the evening and brought us 2 hot water bottles to heat our bed. We were amazed at how well they heated our bed for the entire night. The only negative were the towels. They did not reflect the quality of the rest of the hotel. We wished we could have stayed for longer.

HOTEL WAS GREAT, GREAT VIEWS OF BOTH LAKE SAN PABLO AND THE FAR SIDE OF IMBABURA, AN EXTINCT VOLCANO OF WHICH THE PROVINCE IS NAMED. CLOSE TO CONDOR PARK,TOO!
THE FIREPLACE INSIDE THE ROOM WAS GREAT AND THE ATTENDANT CAME TO START THE FIRE AND BROUGHT WOOD.
DURING DINNER, A STAFF MEMBER PLACED HOT WATER BOTTLES IN OUR BEDS, A NICE TOUCH.
FOOD WAS GOOD AND NOT OVERPRICED!
ONE COMMENT,THOUGH, THE INTERNET SERVICE WAS POOR INSIDE THE CABANAS.

The only issue is that when I booked the room I selected the Superior Room and my confirmation came back as such. When I arrived that was not what I received, informed that the Superior was not available. I was not charged for a Superior but it just would have been nice to know this in advance as it caused some confusion while there.

Right on the lake which is quite nice but darn near impossible to find. The area around the hotel is more rundown but we had no problems. The TV did not work but we weren't concerned about it. Also there is not much close so if your looking for something else to do, somewhere else to eat, etc you'll have to get a taxi. Otavalo is roughly 15-20 min away. The staff were very friendly & helpful though!
