Came back here after 7 years with my family. The private baths were great! Food was amazing.
But the thing with the public baths is that you’re with other people who don’t know the bath etiquette— meaning there’s going to be lots of long hair floating in the women’s bath and people who don’t scrub down before getting in. Wish there was a little more signage that’s obvious for those who don’t speak/read Japanese. Getting into the outdoors bath and having a hairball stick to me didn’t feel amazing at all…

Amazing stay! Loved the breakfast and dinner. Property was on the bus line so very convenient.

Mount View Hakone was a beautiful hotel and I so wish we’d had more than one night in it. I’ll definitely try to return, especially to explore the mountainside towns.
There was some signs of age and some times where I found some hair or the like in places but otherwise perfect.

Traditional Japanese Ryokan. The staff was kind and helpful. We only used the private onsens but they were really nice and really hot. We got half board and the food they served was presented nicely and tasted great. The rooms had lots of amenities and a yukata for you to wear

Amazing experience. Staff were extremely accommodating. The whole place was super cool and felt traditional but had any amenities you need. The onsens were better than imagined and the food was the cherry on top. Buses could take you to the pirate ship or hikes all within a 10 min drive. For 3 people (all men), it was more than enough room. Would recommend to anyone coming to Japan.

Great location. Close to the lake and the cable car ( a few bus stops away). We reserved a Japanese room. It was nice that the futons were set up when we arrived. An extra mattress was added under the futon, so it was pretty comfortable to sleep on. The two shared bathrooms were clean and seemed to be available most of the time. Outdoor private onsen was an additional Y 3000 for 45 minutes and offered during check in. Dinner and breakfast at hotel were really good and half board was best choice, as there were no other restaurants nearby.

Very good onsen and western style room with tatami Matt.

My go-to hotel in Hakone. I love it! It is a bit hard to get to by public transport and even by car. But it is super worth!

Decent hotel. The surrounding area is very quiet but there aren't a lot of places to visit nearby after dark.

We had a wonderful stay here! The onsen was perfect after a Mt. Fuji hike the day before! Make sure you get the dinner. It was a great experience!

Great staff and services👍

Overall we enjoyed our stay here, food was very good and the room was large and traditional. The bath area was ok but nothing amazing. There wasn’t any view from the room or lobby area, no grounds to walk or sit outside.

Traveled with my gf and had a terrific time. The futons were amazing to sleep on, the onsen hot and the service pleasant. The experience of wearing yukatas to the breakfast and onsen was something else to say the least. Would recommend!

Very nice hotel. Loved the staff. They accommodated us so well even after having some trouble and checking in late. Our room was beautiful and luxurious with a splash of traditional culture. Able to instantly relax with one of their reserved private onsen, which was incredibly scenic and soothing btw. We purchased the half board dining experience and did not regret it one bit. The food included many varieties of traditional Japanese dishes. Conveniently located near convenience stores and bus stops. Nice quiet area with beautiful scenery. Would not hesitate to come back here on our next trip.

I stayed for 2 days and it was wonderful. Hot spring was good and I tried to go there every morning and evening. You can buy some food in the hotel or convenient store near the hotel(5min by foot). I recommend meals especially dinner. I can go to the hotel for eating dinner. I want to go to the hotel again with my family or with alone.

Perfect for what we needed: a place to stay overnight in Hakone. We opted for the private onsen and dinner. They were able to accommodate our dietary restrictions as well, which was a plus! The room was spacious and clean, but the pillows were extremely uncomfortable. There is not a lot around but the busses were easy to navigate and stopped right in front of the hotel.

This place was fine. It was a little difficult to get to via public transportation. The service was a little bit odd - the staff seemed stressed out which did not make for a very relaxing experience. They also contacted us multiple times prior to our arrival to ask about our travel plans even when we had not determined them yet, and it felt a bit stressful to have to communicate back and forth. The food was good and the baths are nice. We had massages in the room which was enjoyable and convenient. The rooms are spacious and comfortable. The private bath for two was very enjoyable.

This experience was amazing! Wonderful food, onsen and atmosphere—- thank you!

This place was amazing. This is exactly what we were looking for to get away from the city during our Japan trip. The included dinner was perfect and filling. We got an in room massage and a private onsen. Staff was great and informative. Book it now!

Vegan breakfast and dinner set was amazing. Staff speak English (didn’t understand my Japanese at check in actually although I haven’t had that issue anywhere else.) The bath is open 24 hours a day so when jet lag woke me up at 3 AM I went down and had a bath. The open air bath is wonderful.
My only complaint is if you pick the cheaper economy room it’s very noisy due to doors opening and closing below you.

The dinner was amazing, even for western tastes as long as you're not overly picky. Even the things I would not have typically liked were good. The rooms were nice and the staff were helpful. Their sake and plum wine were also delicious. The only downside for me was the futon, which was firm as I would've expected.

Clean and comfortable
Very nice public onsen

Nice and quiet hotel. Bus that takes you from train station to attractions is right in front of hotel. Dinner provided is excellent. Staff tried very hard to help. The check in/out time is not flexible but you can store luggage there.

We really enjoyed our stay and awesome experience with the onsen. I recommend the private onsen.

Nice and quiet hot spring hotel in Hakone. Friendly staff and beautiful private baths with views of bamboo

Definitely pay a little extra for the private onsen, if not, public onsens are nice too. Food is good and staff speaks good English. Would definitely recommend to people visiting the area.

We loved our stay here. The man checking us in was so incredibly kind and warm and welcoming. He guided us to the most gorgeous spot nearby in the town and it was one of the highlights of our entire trip. He also made us origami to take home with us! He really made us feel welcome. The whole experience here was so nice. The room was great, the meal was excellent, and the onsen was divine. I wish we had more time at this spot and hope we can visit again!

I really enjoyed my stay here and everything was very nice. The best part was definitely the private onsen. Definitely a must try for visitors.

A good location and price for the room. The room we booked was a shared bathroom. But we did not have much issues with it as we used the family room to shower as our room has toilet and sink. They have public baths that you can use as well as paid private baths. For the private baths you have to reserve the morning of if you don’t want to be left with super late time slot. The food served was great and we were stuffed every meal we had. The room we stayed in was also large with AC included. Overall it was a satisfying and relaxing stay.

Mount View Hakone exceeded our expectations! We stayed for two nights in a Japanese style room and had breakfast and dinner.
The meals were amazing with huge variety, giant portions and made using high quality ingredients. All meals were different each day and the service was excellent.
The public and private onsens were very nice. The public onsens are gender separated and open 23 hours a day with both a regular indoor heated bath and an outdoor natural hot spring bath.
There are a few private onsen rooms that you can book on the same day from afternoon until late evening. There was plenty of availability for a private bath on both nights of our stay. I would recommend booking a private onsen as its a nice experience.
The room was much bigger than we expected with a futon floor bed and a tatami floor with sliding windows overlooking the mountains. You're provided with Yukatas and slippers that you can wear throughout your whole stay. There is a private toilet in the room, which wasn't very clear on the listing, although there is no shower in the room.
The area is a bit out of the way from the main tourist attractions but there's a bus included in the Hakone free pass that stops right outside the hotel. Google maps was a bit rubbish around Hakone compared to other cities so you might want to add a bit of overhead to your travelling plans as it took us a while to figure out how to get there from Odawara station using the free pass.
Highly recommend!!

Excellent service , Onsen fantastic , booked a private bath and use shared also both great . Food both evening and breakfast top class. Wearing the Japanese yukata was brill to feel the part. Bit out the way, bus right outside so no issue. Overall would say again maybe longer .

The staff was very friendly and helpful with questions before and after we arrived. Our room was really nice and the private onsen (have to book when checking in) was highlight of our stay. We also enjoyed dinner (lots of different food and they had a vegetarian/vegan option that we requested in advance). Really great experience overall. Wish we could’ve stayed longer here!

While somewhat out of the way of most of Hakone's attractions, Mount View is located right by a bus stop, making for easy enough transit (though you can expect the busses to get pretty busy, especially on weekends). Both the in-house dining experience and the private onsen were well worth the extra costs.

Mount View Hakone is a jewel we didn't expect. Everything was perfect, chef breakfast and 9 course chef meals at a very affordable price - yet one of the best dinners we had

We like the services very much. The hotel staffs are very polite and kind. We enjoyed each breakfast and each dinner very much. The only thing we disliked was that the lavatory sink area near the toilet was too small and too dark.

Nice onsen hotel. Breakfast and dinner are tasty. Will stay again.

Going to a ryokun is a must-do when you go to Japan and Mount View Hakone knocked it out of the park! it is right by a bus stop so it is convient to get to. The tatami rooms are so big and had TV and wifi! They had a tea set and tea you could make in your room! They even provided us with Yukatas to wear to the onsen. To my American pals there are no showers in your room so you have to use the onsen to wash. However, if you get there early or late enough there are family onsen rooms which let you shower and go in an onsen privatly. (it's like family bathrooms) You can also reserve private onsens with beautiful views like a bamboo forest! Me and my friend had a relaxing and fun time. I wish I could of tipped the staff but I know it's not culturally appropriate. Everyone was super polite and there were english instrutions in the room which really helped! Would definatly go again!
