Friendly staff, however I feel sorry for them working in an establishment that as had no investment or upkeep for a long time. Our room was very tired, the bathroom was dusty, mold in the shower and the ceiling was in great need of attention, the corridor was smelly. Shame on a company like Greene King not to take more care of one of its establishment.

Quick trip to the area. Hotel was very handy for where i needed to be. Plenty of free parking.. check in lady was great. Room was fine. A bit chilly but the heating soon sorted that. Neighbours were a pain in the rear end. Noisy at 1am. Not the fault of the hotel of course. Had dinner on site. Reasonably priced and very nice. Breakfast was included and was great. Key drop check out. Will i use this one again. Definitely yes.

Hotel overall was pretty dirty. We ate in the bar which actually tasted quite nice but when we ordered a drink the glasses came with dirt and lipstick on them. When I returned them to the bar, the girl was actually unimpressed that I had returned it. Albeit she did say sorry. The room and corridor leading to it were also old and dirty looking. However, the bed sheets were very clean and the bed was comfortable. We paid less than £60 so it wasn’t over the top for the time of year. Not a great hotel given its condition though.

Stayed here for 3 nights. Staff were friendly, courteous and welcoming and couldn't do enough for us. Unfortunately they are let down by the overall shabbiness of the rooms, poor cleaning standards and the low quality of the food. When we arrived we found a brown stain on the top sheet and so removed it, only to find that an entire corner of the sheet had a tea stain on it and it had been tucked in so as not to show - clearly the sheets hadn't been changed before our arrival which is pretty disgusting. The carpet was covered in stains, the bathroom sink was badly cracked and dirty and the bath itself has chips in several places, this sounds minor but could be a real hygiene issue if not sorted. The full english breakfast was poor, the egg was swimming in oil and the bacon was covered in burnt black bits. For the money we paid, the food wasn't worth it. Lastly, the corridor to our rooms absolutely reeked of marijuana. Clearly somebody in the one of the rooms was smoking a lot of the stuff. Hardly makes the place family-friendly. All in all we probably wouldn't stay here again.

Staff were lovely, but you were given food with no cutlery or napkins. You were expected to get that for your self. Bathroom we had had no heating, black mould on ceiling. Bedroom freezing, the heater hadn’t been on in the room for a while so we felt when we put on heater the room never heated up Temperatures outside was 1degree. Bedside light not working

The staff were excellent and the room was lovely and quiet. The beds were really comfy. I would only say that the shower cubicle was very cramped with a drench shower head which was unnerving for my elderly mum and the carpets and some fixtures were a little tired.

Having family in the village ive known this place my whole life but never stayed but we will definitely be back. Super friendly staff, fabulous room, clean comfortable and elegant. Perfect for a night or two and overall good value.

The hotel was clean, up to date. We had a nice room, quiet and cool with a nice bathroom. All very clean and comfortable. Only 3 stars because we were rudely awaken early in the morning by the fire alarm. It went off twice while we were trying to have a lie in. It set a downer to our day and was really stressful. We weren't sure whether we should run outside in our underwear. When we asked downstairs what happened they said someone in the kitchen had burnt toasts. Not impressed.

Comfortable stop on a journey. Ok for the price. Cooked breakfast exceeded our expectations!

Great customer service, comfy beds, some marks on walls & black spots in bathroom but overall clean, tidy. Good night sleep. Would use again. Only think to note not wheelchair friendly (stairs to all rooms), but team willing to help where can.

We needed a bed for the night on our way North which offered a chance to meet up with old friends. This hotel fitted the bill. Our room was spacious with a nice bathroom. The pub downstairs meant we could get a bite to eat and have a chat. We did have noisy neighbours around midight but thats not the hotels fault. Only grumble would be that food could be served hotter. Both our evening meals and breakfasts could have been improved in this way.

Our stay at the Darrington was very good, the staff were very helpful, when the weather turned very cold even though the radiator was hot it still felt chilly ,but when we mentioned it a heater was bought in which made all the difference. The food was excellent and again the difference we asked for soon appeared,we would certainly recommend this hotel, Molly there was a delight a lovely lady.

I managed to book the wrong week for our stay - 3 rooms. The staff were very helpful and sorted Al my issues out and made sure we were comfortable. Very happy overall. Thank you.

Nice stay all things good apart from someone drilling at 8am.

There us no one manning the reception , so you have to press the bell, waited around 15 mins for someone to give us the keys as she was the knly person able to work on reception and she was in the cellar changing the barrel as the hotel is attached to a hungry horse pub as she was the only person who could do that too. The staff were friendly and polite , We had a meal in the eve that was ok , the breakfast was just about edible the sausges were cold, there were no cups it was very basic. We dudnt have a full breafast tge next say as it wasnt nice. They had just had new tvs in each room and the first night had tv nothing in the morn and reported it and said i would like it dorted for when i return . We went to the room atoubd 9 pm and no tele , the reception wasnt manned so called the number they leave 12 times and no answer, i then went to the reception and rang the bell again a number of times, a very nice lady came apologised and when i mentioned i cslled the phone line , it was at the desk so woukdnt have been in earshot of it as was running the bar also. She did in the end fix picture i was slightly annoyed as had asked for this to be done in the morn.

I was here for literally 5 hours, checking in at Midnight and then leaving at 0500! It was just a break on a long drive! The bed, room and overall area were comfortable. It’s like a conventional travelling Inn and lovely. The night porter was nice, friendly and easy to chat to!

Staff very friendly. Restaurant attached had good quality food with helpful staff, good service. Bed wasn't the most comfortable, especially the pillows, could have done with better quality or more options for pillows.

I was leaving in the early hours of the morning so they moved me into a quieter room whilst at check in.

My only complaint is the shower cubicle is too small, as a 6’2” man.. But Hey..!!!
