Lovely clean hotel. Great friendly and helpful staff every time I've visited. Very close to Overamstel metro station. Good views from the upper floors.
Spa is nice, would prefer hot tubs over the pool which can be a little cold at times.

Friendly staff, fantastic view, great rooms, tasty breakfast buffet!

The room was miserably hot and sticky. We hardly slept, having to lay on top of covers for 3 straight nights. Made at least 2 requests to address the AC temp, but nothing they did resulted in a cooler room.
Other than that, we enjoyed the property and location. Really close to train station. Nice onsite bar.

10/10 hotel. Second time staying here. Rooms are spacious and stunning decor (altho some wear and tear in the rooms). The jet bath is incredible! The breakfast buffet is also great, lots of choices depending on what you fancy. I do think some of the food could be seasoned better but still good. The train station is a 5 minute walk from the hotel so easy connections to central Amsterdam and other places. Room service pizza is quick and delicious. All in all a fabulous stay and would recommend for couples looking for a romantic getaway and want some peace and quiet but still within distance to the sites!

My experience at this hotel was extremely disappointing. If it were a 2 star hotel, I might have understood, but this establishment is far from deserving four stars. The hospitality, the quality of the staff—none of it met the standards one would expect from a 4star hotel. This experience reminded me that stars are not just about having facilities.
The mineral water provided in the room could not be opened without a bottle opener, yet no opener was provided. When I inquired at the front desk, I was told that they often forget to place them in the rooms due to the high number of rooms, but at that moment, they had none available. As a result, I tried to open the bottle by other means and ended up injuring myself.
The staff were unhelpful and lacked any motivation. They did not assist with our luggage, even though we were struggling with back pain. The prices were set high, but the service did not match the cost.
Furthermore, the location is far from the central area, and while the proximity to the subway station is highlighted as a plus, the station leading to the city center was closed, forcing us to rely on taxis. Waiting for a taxi took a long time, making it inconvenient for both business and leisure.
I chose this hotel because of the advertised sauna and spa, but found only one small, overcrowded sauna in operation. The so-called heated pool was outdoors and too cold to use.
Here’s a piece of advice: Always read reviews starting with the negative ones.

A really disappointing stay at a hotel I’ve stayed at several times before and never had issues. Long queue to check in due to there not being enough staff. I informed reception my wife was allergic to feathers and they assured me the room contained no feathers. When we got to the room, two of the four pillows contained feathers as did the cushion on the armchair. We called reception to get them removed and replaced immediately but were just on hold for the minutes before someone hung up! Tried contacting reception via WhatsApp and they got back to us eventually. Someone removed the pillows/cushions and have us one strange pillow to replace them. We asked for another but were told there were no other pillows on the property which was bizarre. Nobody bothered to check on the welfare of my wife who had been exposed to feathers. Robe and slippers no longer provided - have to pay extra to rent those now! Went to the spa and two of the steam rooms weren’t working properly. On checkout the receptionist asked how my stay was to which I replied it was ‘OK’ but she didn’t probe to find out why it wasn’t excellent which seems quite a basic requirement. Overall extremely disappointing/dangerous and we won’t be staying here again.

I had a wonderful stay at this property and I would highly recommend it. It was clean, modern and all the staff were very helpful. This hotel is outside of the town centre so we took taxis everyday in just as an FYI I wouldn't let this put you off though it's a stunning hotel.

Great hotel for a great price. The rooms are a little too dark for me, but the service was great.

I love how friendly the staff are and I enjoy the breakfast very much! I didn’t like I had to pay for universal plug in! I think naturally they should just provide it and take it back like other hotels.

Great hotel. Not central but quick and easy to get there by public transport. Spa was lovely.

Ac was not the best. No transfers offered and spa is outsorced. The team at the bar needs cocktail training love their effort and kindness but the basics like a margarita should be a given.

Hotel staff, location, and facilities are great.
TLDR:
Some things could've been better specially considering the price of the stay.
I'd most likely come back to this hotel.
Things to note prior to booking:
Facilities lacking an ice machine. Had to go to the bar to get ice and they could not provide me a bucket of ice. Bar only open until midnight so I couldn't get ice from midnight to whenever they open.
Requested more coffee pods at 5am as we had to be at the airport for 8am but there was no room service at that time. Slightly disappointing service hours for a 4-star hotel.
The beds are very comfortable, bed holds heat well. I prefer sleeping when it's cold so this was not a plus for me. Just my preference, did not affect the rating of the place.
Room thermostat resets once a day back to 21 Celsius. Very annoying when you're jetlagged and trying to sleep then it gets hot all of a sudden.
FYI: Does not have NA-style electrical outlets. I thought maybe they'd have the combination-style receptacles due to their clientele. Did not affect my rating of the hotel.

The state of bedding and towels was very poor. They were all very old with holes and wasn’t pleasant to use them.

HUMAN FECES ON THE WALLS
FILTHY rooms, literally feces on the toilets and walls, see the pictures
Staff is useless drones, manager is a complete joke
Amsterdam is a beautiful place, don't let somewhere like this ruin your stay.
Take your business elsewhere - AVOID!!

Gorgeous hotel with a phenomenal breakfast buffet- one of the very best we have experienced. Admittedly the bar could be better, but it’s a decent offering and the restaurant also worked in a pinch to provide a solid 3-4 dining experience. Location is excellent as this hotel is very drivable, yet also right next to the metro station and it only takes 15 minutes to get to downtown Amsterdam.

Really helpful staff. Tom on the front desk was exceptional. The wellness centre was great. Different types of saunas and a lovely pool. Good bikes to hire. Easy to get to city centre on bike. Lovely looking restaurant and bar in hotel. Rooms nice. Good size with lovely bathroom.

Called several times before arrival with questions, and in every case we were given incorrect information about dining options in area (were told there were none because it’s in industrial area even though they have a map with 10 places you could walk to), questions about Johan Cruyff arena rules were met with no answer, “I don’t know” or blank stares, and pool was so cold it felt like the North Sea. Horrible experience with Amstel Restaurant and the Modum (sp?) Bar. Checked with 3 staff members including restaurant manager and front desk manager about dining at restaurant for dinner with party of 3. All confirmed reservation not required and that restaurant closed at 11. NO ONE mentioned that Kitchen closed at 10. When we arrived after day of sightseeing at a little before 10, we were turned away. If you can’t order after 10 then that should be communicated. We were then told Bar restaurant was only option in area - food was so greasy and without flavor, and definitely not appropriate for young child in our party. Service was horrible and we couldn’t get glass of wine for first 30 min because there were “no clean glasses”!
No matter what question we asked or help we needed, the staff took zero initiative and either couldn’t or wouldn’t assist.

This was a great stay for me, it was not in the city center and the taxi driver told me it was in the middle of no where, but that's what I needed. There are 2 dining/bar options on site. Food was decent, and the guests were lively. Metro station was a 5 min walk.

Everything here has extra charges.
Slippers cost 2,50€ each, adapter around 9€.
But you can get free toothpaste and toothbrush.
When I called the hotel staff (before our arrival) to ask if we can reserve a parking spot for electric cars the answer was: “When you arrived here and there are free spots, you can charge the car. If not, then not.”
I’m not sure if they won’t fill up the tissues or if they will only fill it up by request… but ours was empty.
Also on the day before our departure they didn’t put a new rubbish bag as well.
Other than the points mentioned above the hotel was very clean and comfortable.

Really good stay, the hotel facilities were great from the spa to the gym, all in very good conditions and great environment. Special mention to the employees, all very friendly and polite.

I like that it’s just a quick ride into the city center so you are away from the crowds but it’s still a beautiful hotel with a feel of Holland and it helps it’s near a canal

We had a fabulous stay at Van der Valk hotel. The staff were super friendly and accommodating. The facilities were outstanding especially the spa. The room was spacious and comfortable with a lot of the extra touches you wouldnt normally expect. We would highly recommend anyone who is looking to visit Amsterdam for work or pleasure.

This is an outstanding property. I love the food and incredibly nice, professional and prompt service. They went beyond by making a tweak to an item on the menu. The particularly loved the huge sauna! I have not seen this in top United States hotels and I have traveled throughout the states as an executive and past military captain.

Great hotel breakfast is phenomenal staff very accommodating good links to the centre could do with a couple more lifts but not a massive issue

The property was clean and presentable. The staff seemed unhappy about working there. I was getting coffee from a coffee machine outside the breakfast buffet when the owner of the hotel asked me if I needed help with my coffee which I replied no thank you. He then proceeded to take me to the host of the breakfast buffet and told me I was supposed pay for the coffee. I was willing to pay and I informed him I had payed for the breakfast and that I thought our monetary exchange was adequate and that it definitely appeared as if the coffee was complementary. He then told me half the guests don’t pay for breakfast and that the coffee was indeed not free. The owner seemed to be miserly and it seems like he is micro managing to the point of stifling the energy amongst the staff. The place non enthusiastic energy. Additionally, they would not deliver via room service from the restaurant but would deliver pizza and burgers from the bar, this didn’t make much sense. We chose this hotel because they had a nice restaurant and advertised room service however the room service was limited to unhealthy options.
