I was about to give one more star to this hotel but at the checkout, surprise, the white lady said I haven't paid... I replied I had already done so... She said no I hadn't pay. Then she also mention the city tax... I said I paid everything already including the city tax... Then, and only at that moment, she started to check her record and she said oh you paid. Then she said people can make mistake. I said yes, but she should have checked first before she replied and insisted...
Now I remember this very same lady made me wait 10 min to get the key when I was tired getting back from outside because she was busy talking...
It's a pity these things happened. It's also pity the hotel put this kind of people at the reception. I guess she may also don't like Asian people, not too say she hate them. Other people are nice and hotel is quite good, well renovated and good breakfast.
The price is too high compared to the room, service and breakfast.
I would not come back here again. If you can choose, go to another hotel.
And don't forget, beware at the checkout if you have already paid. Keep you receipt ...

Friendly staff, nice breakfast, close to train station and clean room

One of the female staff was very rude and unprofessional. When i confronted her about her behaviour and told her that it's unprofessional and i should not be treated like this, she told me to never book this hotel again. I belive she is the manager or owner. Other staff was very kind and professional. She woke me up at the middle of the night to move my car in the parking lot that her staf has told me to park before. Then she complained that my labrador was too jumpy and dangerous when my puppy only wanted to lick her. I asked her why did they advertised this hotel being pet friendly if the staff are afraid of labrador puppy. But she told me to use muzzle when i take my puppy out of my room. She even refused to lend me an umbrella when i asked for one, due to heavy rain outside. I will never set my foot in this horrible hotel again.
I also found bed bugs in our bed. me and my wifes body was itching every morning after we woke up. I lifted the matress and found lots a bed bugs.

Well, all staff are helpful and very nice.
Location of hotel is good. Walk 5-10 mins from Salzburg hbf. Can walk to city center 15-20 mins.
But the condition of hotel itself really old, should have done some renovation. Our last night, the hot water for shower doesnt work, the staff told us nothing they can do, probaby alot of customer using hot water that time.
Breakfast, it could be better than this for 100 euro per night

The hotel is nice but the room looks old and outdated. The area is nice and close to the train station. Easy access to the center by foot or public transport. Breakfast was nice. The stuff was very nice, helpful and welcoming.

Check-in is not smooth. They require a printed receipt from Expedia though they could see we booked it through them. Luckily I was able to email the invoice to them and they accepted that.

My worst experience !! Think about your stay of "Hotel Scherer" over and over.
I sent a message twice to this Hotel thru booking.com, and no reply. I am afraid for cancellation of two nights stays. So i prepaid and send message again thru its homepage, and repled nothing. The very day my bus came delayed for a hour, and I called and send e-mail to it about my apology and changing schedule.
I called again to help me for arranging for a taxi, when I reached the bus station. The Hotel person said me "go to my company hotel". I could not understand what they said, I make a taxi to go there. They met us outside the hotel, and just said "go to my company hotel" without any excuse or any apology for overbooking. I argued with them at 2 am, but in vain. If you would not feel like me, please think it over.

Very disappointed. Not a clean hotel sheet had stains on them we had to have them changed when we check-in the bedding under the sheet were also dirty stained and full of hair and the refrigerator did not work, the bathroom floors were dirty. Our stay here was very uncomfortable. Would not recommend.

Nice hotel with a helpful staff. Air conditioning was nice. It's a little far from the sites, but at least close to the train station. Curtains blocked out a lot of morning light which was great for sleep.

It is located literally around the corner from the house wherein my mother and uncle grew up, two blocks from the Salzach and a ten minute walk from the Hauptbanhof.

Lovely hotel--clean, comfortable, and quiet. The included breakfast buffet was excellent with good variety. Staff was friendly and polite. The location was convenient for getting to/from O-Bus stops and the train station, but there were not a lot of restaurant or shopping options in the immediate vicinity.
If you need a port-a-crib for a baby/toddler they have them available, but it took about 4 hours to have it dropped off at the room after we requested it at check-in, so plan accordingly.

Clean decent hotel with professional staff. It was clean, but room was on the small side, but that's to be expected. The bed was also tiny, and I was not able to sleep well. Location is superb. It was close to Salzburg central and it made my late night arrival and early morning departure much easier and safer. Hotel is about 14 minutes walk to Mirabel Garden, and you can cross the bridge into old town easily. I walked everywhere from the hotel and did not need to use public transport.

At first glance you might wonder but the staff and cleanliness are so amazing that you soon become charmed by the place. Wifi access was easy and reliable. Breakfast was friendly and delicious. The front desk helped us maneuver and purchase tickets.

Having WiFi in the hotel is very important to us. We chose this hotel because it is published in Hotels.com that there is WiFi in the lobby. We found out that even using WiFi in the lobby is chargeable. When I pointed this out to the front desk, the person who attended to us made an excuse saying that the someone else takes charge of the website and did not want to look into this manner. How disappointing!

For the price paid, the hotel should offer free wifi. This is the only hotel in the 3 months that I traveled Europe that did not offer free wifi. The guy at check in tried to make a joke stating the Expedia listing said access to internet, but not free. The previous guest had locked the safe and it took over 30 minutes to get remedied. The guy who worked the overnight desk/bar was nice. The chips at the bar were stale and the OJ outdated.
