Positives- free parking, bed very very comfortable, bedding smelt lovely, easy walking distance of Athlone, reception staff friendly and helpful, bath filled quickly and was hot
Areas for improvement- bar food was dreadful, staff showed lack of awareness of allergies and intolerance, this also extended to the breakfast buffet with no allergens displayed, old food stuffed down the sides of the seats needed a clean

Good points. Grounds clean and welcoming. Great car parking . Stayed one night in room 301. Reception clean and welcoming, check in wtihout issue.Room was clean and well decorated, bed comfortable, TV had netflix
Not so good. Room 301 looks over the back of the bar area with storage above for paperwork. Looks grubby and untidy. Bathroom was clean but shower difficult to control with hot water which got hotter by itself.
Overall our stay was comfortable, would use this hotel again

Frontline staff were welcoming and helpful. Town center to castle and across bridge to local microbrew were a casual 10-15 minute walk.

The apartment was okay. The one thing I would recommend is that the dining and kitchen area be cleaned better. The furniture, such as the couch and chairs should be cleaned better or get leather ones which clean up much better. Also, the carpet could be cleaned. The bedroom and bathroom was fine.

There are no laundry facilities onsite or nearby, despite their listing stating they are available. The bar staff were friendly. Children are allowed in the bar area so there was a lot of running back and forth and screaming. If you are looking for a quiet place to have a pint, this is not it. There is plenty of parking, which is a plus given the limited (free) parking elsewhere in town. If youre up for the walk, its only 10-15 minutes to Sean's Bar.

The staff were really friendly; hotel was spotless, breakfast was fresh and all you want for every morning.
Could do with the odd thing been update i.e bed headboards ; dark brown furniture. Saying this i will be returning deffinality if in yhe are again.

When I arrived at a late hour, there was no room available despite having two emails to confirm my booking. Said there was no record of my booking. Guy at desk told me he arranged bed in nearby hotel and that manager would contact me following day. Arrived at other hotel who said they never heard from hotel I booked and had no rooms. Couldn’t find anywhere and ended up sleeping in car. No contact since from hotel.

The Shamrock lodge was a beautiful place to stay. Our room was clean and equipped with all that we needed, and the customer service was incredible. The lodge is also a short walk from the city center, so we were able to easily enjoy all that Athlone had to offer! The spay next door to the lodge was a lovely experience as well, the ladies gave us the best massages and were an absolute joy!

Was an easy and safe walk to the main part of town and thw Althone Castle.

Beautiful comfortable accomodations that is walkable to the castle and other sites. We had a lovely birthday dinner in the Lodge's pub . Dessert was divine.

What a great place for a stopover. Not a far walk into town but the accommodation was an unexpected surprise, the whole unit to ourselves. The food in the bar, although only a sandwich was beautifully presented and they really accommodated us as I believe the kitchen was due to close. The staff were all wonderful. Would definitely recommend people travelling across Ireland to stop for the night to recharge the batteries.

The property was family friendly but avoid on weekends. Many hen and stag parties with loud people. Room overlooked garbage area and smelled like cigarettes

The location was good, the tub was deep, towels were warm and fluffy and the teas service was mice

Beds were very confortables, bathtub was very big but it was a bit noisy, we could hear our neighbors in their rooms or in the hallway. Breakfast was good.

First time to Shamrock Lodge, Ciara on reception was lovely. Easter eggs for the kids that was wonderful. Room was nice, my side of the bed could do with a new mattress. Breakfast was very good. We will stay again

Stayed overnight with 3 friends in the outside lodge Had meals in Hotel. Dreadful weather so thankful the walkway to lodge was covered. Lodge warm and comfortvke plenty of hot water. Kettle and microwave and plenty of tea/coffee/sugar/milk supplies
