Front desk lady was rude, did not come across as friendly, acted like we were an inconvenience needing to check into our room, hardley said 4 words to us while checking in

Most every time we stay, the front desk staff is nowhere to be found most of the time. But - the lady who attends the breakfast ALWAYS goes above and beyond. She is a very hard worker!

Nice place

This was our first time at this location. This hotel met the standards I was expecting for a Holiday Inn Express. The check in gal was nice and friendly. It was easy to check in. When we left it was a different gal, but also nice and friendly. Location was 5 minutes from where we needed to be that evening.

Housekeeping opened my door and tried to enter my room 30 minutes before checkout time. Was charged an extra fee for being a local resident as well. Price was expensive for relatively average hotel stay at best.

They called ahead to tell us the pool heater was out, and they promised to be very accommodating. We still swam in the pool but their chemicals must have been off. All of our brand new swimsuits completely faded and took all the color off! They came and told us only 6 people in the hot tub (which was fine) but later some older people drinking beer went into the hot tub. There was always 7-8 of them in there. They came in and laughed them never mentioning the 6 person limit. They kicked us out of the lobby at 8:30, yet didn't say a word to the other group of people. The lady in charge was always away from her desk on her cell phone most of the time. There was no shampoo in our hotel room. There was no bedding for the pull-out. The wall was completely beat up. There was 3 towels in a room that sleeps 6. I would just say the customer service by the worker in the purple hair was EXTREMELY poor.

Love this hotel. I would give it a 5 star rating, but it’s getting $$ to stay a couple of nights.

This hotel is overpriced for this area of Iowa. I was expecting the hotel to be in good condition because of the price. That was a mistake. This hotel is very run down. I won't stay here again. And, why on earth is it priced so high?

Staff confusion at check in

I booked a handicapped accessible room. I get to the hotel and the lady sees me in a wheelchair and said I'm sorry we don't have the room you booked online. So we had to pay double for our stay and had to get a regular room for us and had to get another room on top of that because we all couldn't fit in the room I was put in if we added a cot due to me being in a wheelchair. I went to use the pool lift to get in the pool and the lift didn't work. I asked the front desk if it works and one person said yes I just have to put the battery on. She put the battery on and it didn't work. Then the other front desk person said that they ordered I fuse and it's on back order. Another front desk person said it's been not working for a long time. Can we hold hotels liable if they list their hotel and amenities as wheelchair accessible and handicap accessible if their items are not working and they have no such room available so you don't have to deal with what I had to go through. It was one of the worst experiences. The beds you can feel the springs when you sit and lay down. Not very comfortable at all. The breakfast was cold, the muffins were hard you couldn't bite into them. The closing manager idk if he was scared or what but he had the doors locked before 9pm for guests to walk in. He was really rude and would come in the pool room and slam the door shut.

Our stay at Holiday Inn Express in Fort Dodge was great. It was very clean, beds were comfortable, the pool stayed open until 11 and the rooms had everything you needed. I would definitely recommend this hotel.

Unable to process debit card for $25 "incidentals" charge. Doesn't take cash.

I always stay in this hotel when I come to my hometown because they have good quality handicap bathrooms. As usual, it was quiet, even though a teen boys baseball team spent Saturday night there. The down side is that the building is aging and in need of a DEEP cleaning and some upgrades. I do not believe that it is necessary to charge every guest with a pet the same $50 pet fee. I have a very well trained chihuahua mix, small dog that I take with me everytime I leave the premises. I still had to pay the $50 even though she never barked once or caused any damage whatsoever. When one is a repeat guest with the same pet, I think some allowance should be made. In addition, I take my own poop bags and clean up after my pet every time. That should be taken into account.

Like: like the quick response when we couldn't get the TV to work. Someone was at our door within minutes. She was a very friendly lady. Saw her again before we left and she took the time to ask how did the TV work after she left and struck up conversation about our trip. Not many do that anymore. Dislikes: hot tub was not hot. Wallpaper in bathroom was pulling off.

Very nice, clean, quiet. Bed good for me, to firm for my wife. Good breakfast, cinnamon rolls were great! Pool was open only 1 night of the 4 we were there. Hot tube was open and great.

We were so disappointed at the limited hours of the concierge lounge. We ensured we had access as part of our reservation, but it closed before we arrived and didn't open until after we had to check out for our flight. We had to pay $5 each for a half cup of coffee in the lobby on our way out :(

Checking in and out was easy and night staff was awesome and breakfast was amazing!! Room was clean andbed comfortable!! Will be staying again!!
