The plants in the living area were pretty.

The coffee we were given was, potentially unhygienic - tasted like pond water, we couldn’t drink it. Cockroaches in the bedroom and the room made allergies flare up. We were woken at 6:30 am by a loud blender being used but no idea what for as we weren’t offered any real cooked food. The breakfast was atrocious, cold dry toast, one plain egg and a few pieces of fruit- to say this was budget would be putting it lightly, so disappointed considering the great Sri Lankan breakfasts that have been included for less money at other home stays/ hostels. When we arrived our host was polite but in the morning he wouldn’t even acknowledge us as he took our money and continued talking in the phone. - nobody in the hostel seemed very happy and the ambiance was strained.

Das Frühstück war abwechslungsreich und sehr lecker. Es gab Option auf Mittag- und Abendessen, was wir teilweise in Anspruch nahmen. Alles wurde frisch zubereitet und war sehr gut und reichlich.

It was very clean, quite and in good location with view of the lake. The food and breakfast was very delicious and designed very beautifully. The Manager and staff were very kind and hospitable

Diese Unterkunft hat einen Europäischen Standard. Das Personal war herzlich und lieb. Ich hatte selbst in Sri Lankas hotel nicht so eine Saubere hotel gesehen wie in Gregory house Hostel. Dieser ort ist Sauber, schön gerichtet und man hat einen See Blick. Ich würde das nächste mal wieder diesen Unterkunft buchen.

It was very relaxed and in a good location. The chap there went out of his way to help. He made us a breakfast to take away when we left at 6am and was happy to make us tea whenever asked. Very kind!

Het personeel was erg vriendelijk. De gezamenlijke kamer is erg gezellig ingericht en groot zodat je er makkelijk zelf kan zitten maar ook mensen kunt ontmoeten.

Sehr sauberes und einladendes Hostel. Wir haben auf Anfrage ein Privatzimmer bekommen, obwohl wir Dorm gebucht hatten.Dieses kam mit einem eigenen Bad und warmer Dusche. Gutes Frühstück inklusive, das frisch zubereitet wird.

Das Hostel ist etwa 40 min zu Fuß vom Zentrum gelegen, mit dem Tuktuk aber kein Problem. Dafür hat man einen schönen Ausblick. Leider waren wir sehr enttäuscht vom Hostelbesitzer. Er konnte uns bei einfachen Fragen über die Umgebung nicht weiterhelfen und gab uns sogar falsche Informationen. Obwohl in der Beschreibung die Benutzung der Küche ausgeschrieben ist, verlangte er eine "Benutzungsgebühr" von 500 Rupees, nachdem ich mir Instant Nudeln zubereitet hatte. Nach langem Verhandeln musste ich dann aber nicht zahlen. Schade, da das Hostel an sich sehr schön ist.

I recently had an amazing stay at Gregory House. The customer service was exceptional, creating a beautiful and welcoming vibe. The staff was incredibly friendly, and the breakfast was superb. Everything about the stay was fantastic. Highly recommend!

Beautiful view of Lake Gregory.. Spacious lobby

Het hostel was zo knus en gezellig en ligt in een pittoreske omgeving. Het ligt vlak aan een meer en je kan de stad op wandelafstand bereiken. De eigenaar is super vriendelijk en gastvrij. 's Ochtends zijn we gaan hiken en moesten hier vroeg voor opstaan en de eigenaar had een super lekker en vers ontbijt pakketje voor ons klaar gemaakt. Je kan er ook avondeten en dit was ook heerlijk! Het hostel is heel proper, goede bedden en er zijn wat dikkere lakens voorzien (want het kan wat kouder zijn in Nuwara Eliya). Gratis koffie en thee zijn voorzien.

De badkamer is aan vernieuwing toe maar alles werkt prima.

Manoj war super hilfsbereit und freundlich. Ich kam nach einem 9 stündigen Horrortrip am späten Abend an. Er hat mir eine Pizza bestellt und eine heisse Milch gemacht. Damit hat er mir den Tag gerettet. Das Frühstück am nächsten Tag fand ich auch mega klasse. Preis-Leistung ist unschlagbar.

It was the best stay we had in Sri Lanka. The place is beautiful, clean, very well maintained. Located by the lake, a bit further from the city, but it’s worth taking a walk. The hosts were amazing, very helpful. The breakfast was the best we had - yogurt with granola and fruits and other day eggs with fruits and toast. The rooms had duvets which was very helpful, because it gets a bit cold during the night.

Did not stay the sent a message after the reservation staying they were overbooked.

A lovely place with an aesthetic atmosphere with many indoor plants and imterior decos which best suits for a couple/family who seeks for a staycation for a fair rate. The breakfast is 10/10 from my personal rating and the host and the caretaker both were very supportive and we had an amazing time at this place!

Most of those comments below aren't true! This place is completely dirty, bathroom and smelly pillows and bed sheets, owner and staff have very bad behavior and made some unprofessional act even I threatened him that I was going to complain! They don't even like to give the breakfast which is mentioned as included! Next day I left that dirty place and went to much better one. Please stay away this place doesn't deserve a single pinny, and you'd find so many better places around with cheaper prices!

Gregory House Hostel is one of the best places to stay in Nuwara Eliya. It's a beautiful property with clean and comfortable rooms. The common areas and washrooms are well-maintained. They offer WiFi facilities; however, the WiFi strength is not very strong in the far rooms. But In the common areas and nearby rooms where the router is located, the WiFi works perfectly. The Host mentioned that they are working on extending the WiFi coverage. Apart from this, everything is perfect. Additionally, they provide breakfast included in the room/dorm price. Despite the affordable price, they offer a very satisfying stay and a hearty breakfast. Even the complimentary breakfast has various options to choose from. Also Black tea and coffee are free of cost and you can order anytime. The hosts of this stay are some of the most generous and sweetest people I've ever met. They are incredibly helpful. I would love to come back again. ❤️ Highly recommended. 🌼

Staff were very helpful and friendly, bed was comfortable and they helped us to arrange a tuktuk for a good price. The dinner offered was lovely and meant it was quite a sociable place to get to know other travellers.

Breakfast wasn’t the greatest, noise carried through a little bit but nothing too bad. It was a little far away from the town centre.
