The property needs a guest room renovation. Our room had a very worn chair with black wear marks on the arms. The shower, with the door closed, flooded the bathroom floor, every time you showered. The room controls were only in German. As the premier hotel in Berlin with a famous reputation that gets lots of international guests, I would’ve expected the switches to have symbols understood by someone who doesn’t speak German. The thermostat was locked to a maximum 22 degrees. The staff were very friendly but service was spotty. The front desk forgot to give the Bellman our luggage tags so we had to phone for our luggage on arrival. The service in the brasserie was generally poor although the staff were always very friendly. We had to flag down staff to have orders taken and pay in the end. The person delivering the starters didn’t know who had what, and when the main courses arrived one was not ours, and the second one was not prepared as requested. We assume that the person picked up the wrong order in the kitchen because they corrected the issue quickly. The staff were either under trained or the restaurant understaffed. The person checking us out was very responsive and took note of what I had to say after she asked about our stay. She was the most interested staff member. If there had only been one thing, I would not say anything, but the combination of issues, albeit none of them large, is concerning given the Adlon’s reputation. Disappointing stay.

Steps from the historic Brandenburg gate, the Adlon hotel has impeccable service. The rooms are spacious and clean, but do need a bit of updating. The Brasserie offers a great place to grab a bite, people watch or enjoy a nice cold drink. Will definitely come back here.

This is an historic hotel, the first to bring real glamour to East Berlin after the wall fell. It remains a glorious place to stay, with a superb staff.

The room was nice with plenty of plugs. The staff was friendly and offered options for watching the football match. The shower was small without a door so it was difficult to use. The AC was set at 17.5 but the room was very warm so we had to sleep without covers at night. There is a lot of construction in the area so it was also noisy.
