super clean, charming, California chic vibe. Exactly what I expected for the price. nice ocean view. easy check in and check out. I just wish we could have stayed longer! it was not the weather for it, but the pool looked nice. some people complained about street noise and we didn’t find it to be an issue. The blinds and curtains gave enough blackout that room was dark enough for a good sleep in.

’m not sure who wrote positive reviews for The M Malibu, but I can’t imagine them being genuine. The stay, service and follow up was, at best, very disappointing. DO NOT SPLURGE TO STAY HERE. It is one step up from a motel that you’d find off the highway—in that they’ve cleaned it, kind of, and added orange accessories. I stayed there as a vacation treat, thinking it was a cute/vintage boutique option. I didn’t sleep a wink because my room was literally attached to the parking lot right off of a busy highway (forget the balcony/palm trees in the photo and see photo attached). The floor was sticky, the bed was cheap, the air conditioner barely worked and the staff leaves at 6 pm. I would have turned around in an instant if I didn’t have a wedding that night and had another place to stay. I paid a premium price for misleading advertising. Honestly, writing negative reviews isn’t fun, but I’m so put off by the management’s response to my enquiry—which was nothing. My advice, find somewhere (anywhere) else to spend your money and enjoy Malibu!

we waited 30 mins to access the property as no one was on reception and we were not told our room number. we didn’t see any staff member the whole time. also, the room above ours was extremely noisy at 3am. the pool was dirty

The room was done up to a high standard, it was easy to find and the location was perfect for Malibu beach. Definitely not worth the rates charged though… they charge these rates purely for location.

The bed was incredibly uncomfortable, the noise of the road was much worst than expected and it was hard to sleep, we had used dirty towels in our room and reception closes at 7pm, so no one was around the entire time - to get them changed. In addition, the receptionist charged our card for the full amount (circa $700) when it was a prepaid booking and even when we highlighted that it was paid, they insisted it wasn’t. They realised their error several days later and refunded us but we had to wait for this. That was money we needed for the trip - and we had to make adjustments to our plans. The hotel have still not provided any form of compensation.

The location of the Motel is really great, 5 minutes to walk to the ocean. The shore side is really great. The Malibu looks really great from outside and was easy to find. The rooms are clean and comfortable.

As written from outside the M is really good looking with the palms, but the rooms itself for that price are very basic. No great lightning beside the bed or any curtain around the small window. We booked the cozy hideaway and in the end it doesn't felt cozy and I think thats easy to fix for the owners. The biggest thing which we don't like is the missing wifi. We was able to connect to the wifi but it never worked out during our stay. Come on it is 2022, a good working wifi is absolutely mandatory.

I liked the layout of the bedroom and the furniture inside the room.

I didn’t like that the property was dangerous to enter while driving, whoever answered the phone was very rude and sarcastic, the room wasn’t very clean, there was dirt and dust all over the floor, there were bugs inside the room and I found out that they reuse all of the hand soap, shampoo, and conditioner instead of providing new bottles for every guest which is disgusting.

Everything was fine. The maid (Lupe) was fantastic!

Weekend traffic was quite noisy but we expected that. Weekend beach goers!!

The room is clear and nicely furnished.

The motel is exactly near the main road, so it is very noisy, and as the building is made of wood, you can hear every word from the rooms next to yours. Only for good sleepers/marmots.

The bed was soft. Shower was good

Room smelt like smoke. There was very little daylight. Felt like a prison. The pool was dirty.
