Clean, close to the beach and not far from Hilo town center
Bed was not comfortable and woke up with back pain. Wish there was more of a breakfast selection other than yogurt, cereal, bread and a bit of fruit.

First of all, the B&B is nice and clean. The garden is cute. Breakfast okay but not special.
In the night it's impossible to sleep because of the frogs (or any other animals) which were very loud. We needed to leave earlier because of that and another personal reason. We informed the owner and the only reply we go was: "please provide your cvc code from the credit card". They told me they sent me a message but i haven't received one. They also didn't reply anymore on booking. com. So their communication is really rude any they have definitely no Aloha vibes and no sympathy for guests. They charged us the whole amount, which would be okay, if their communcation has been more polite.

it was a very nice stay at the Orchid Tree, a very nice room, it was very clean, at a good service like fresh towels every day.

Location is good. The room is big and the bed is comfortable. Beautiful garden. Friendly host.
The breakfast is healthy and we had enough food to start our day with good energy. In a bed and breakfast usually we expect to eat some homemade food but it’s only the fruit that was homemade during our visit. Also we had a room with a door that opened on the shared area of the garden so we felt it’s a little bit less private than the other room.

The property, location and room were great. Parking on site. Hosts very welcoming. We enjoyed the hot tub.
No blackout curtains-the blinds were ineffective to keep out the morning light. The breakfast was minimal at best however we expected this based on past reviews. Bathroom shower curtain was grimy.

beautiful suite in home near the ocean just north of Hilo. A great surfing beach a short walk away. Morning breakfast provided by host including Hawaiian fruit and Kona coffee couldn’t be better. Hot tub and swimming pool a wonderful plus. The host very friendly and helpful. We recommend this stay over hotel!

Sea-view suite was very spacious with a comfortable bed. Hilo is on the rainy side of the island, so we got to listen to the rain on the roof each night. Backyard is beautifully lush with pool and hot tub. Breakfast was self-serve and included delicious fresh fruit, including fresh papaya, bagels, hot tea, granola, and hard boiled eggs. The house is away from the main part of Hilo meaning you are not struggling with a lot of traffic/parking around the B&B. Would recommend for a stay in Hilo.
A more substantial breakfast (eggs, waffles/pancakes) would be nice. When paying through Booking, the first payment goes through the website but the second half is handled by the property and has an additional fee for credit card payments. They do accept Venmo, cash, or check with no additional fee.

Breakfast was great. Hosts had a beautiful patio with comfortable table for eating. Coffee and tea, granola, cereal available and a mini refrigerator filled with yogurt, bagels, English muffins, fresh papaya and juice and milk.

The pool is amazing! Overall it is a very nice and quiet area, we could rest a lot in the chairs and read a book quietly

The breakfast was a bit underwhelming; however, perhaps Hawaii does not allow for B and B owners to prepare hot food? The location was good - very convenient to places yet out of the way. Our room was a suite - it was huge and very well appointed; it felt like an apartment. Beautiful grounds with a clean and inviting pool. Very comfortable bed and private parking spot.
The breakfast had limited options (cold bagels, English muffins, yogurt, some fruit). The coffee however was delicious.

We had bananas and papaya from their garden every morning which was a treat.
Breakfast was much different than the photos. A variety of food, but no hot dishes. Served on paper plates. Coffee was not served ahead of breakfast at 7:30.

The photos do not lie. The room ( we stayed in the room with the vaulted ceiling) and bathroom are so pretty and comfortable. The outdoor space is beautiful and relaxing. We saw whales from the lanai! It is a 5 minute walk down to the grey sand beach with the very pretty lush green hillside. The surfers, hoverboarders and and boogie boarders were fun to watch. Also, the location is perfect! 4 minute drive to downtown Hilo and well situated to reach all east side Big Island attractions.
The continental style breakfast was good, but did not quite rise to the level of some bed and breakfast fare we have experienced. This did not at all detract from our overall experience!

The listing and past reviews made me think we were staying at a bed & breakfast - this is someone’s home. I stayed in the living room, which smelled strongly of mildew. (The other room was much nicer!) It was difficult to get a hold of the hosts at times (no one was present for check-in and there was some confusion about the rooms) and there was no breakfast the first day, though food was left in the outdoor fridge. If you’re expecting an Airbnb, it would be totally fine. But it’s way overpriced for what it is.

Wonderful location and very large bedroom. Enjoyed having a patio and pool just outside our room. We had breakfast on the lanai and enjoyed the papaya fruit plate. Our host was very accommodating and friendly.

The Orchid is a beautiful and inviting setting with a tropical garden and spacious accommodations. The facilities are very clean and well maintained, with exceptional attention to detail. It is a short walk to the beach and close to downtown Hilo. Nice breakfast on a lovely lanai. Our guest was informative and hospitable.

Our stay with Steve and Su was excellent! The bedroom was clean and spacious. We loved having breakfast every morning on the patio with a gorgeous view of the ocean.

Did not live up to the hype from Trip Advisor. Owners were not there and left someone else in charge. We never felt so neglected in a bed and breakfast before. It was a glorified continental breakfast.
Breakfast was not as many travelers advertised. It was simply a continental breakfast of the same few items both days we were there.
