Perfect location and lovely staff - we arrived very (very!) late due to a very late plane and even though the restaurant was shut they gave us a little something to eat - could not have been happier.

There was issue w room accommodation from booking.com and hotel system. They contacted me directly and apologies on the mistake at booking.com system and offered 2 solutions to properly accommodate us. Amalia was very very helpful in assisting to solve the issue and give us good experience in Athens Gate Hotel and in Athens

Fantastic location to many of Athens historical sites. The complimentary breakfast was phenomenal with a rooftop view of the Acropolis. staff were joyful and easy to interact with. We loved this hotel.

Location of hotel is ideal and walking distance to Acropolis, Temple of Zeus and Olympic Stadium. Plenty of restaurants in between. Room 701 has incredible balcony views of Acropolis and city.

Staff was welcoming and always greeted you with a smile. Our room was cleaned daily, and breakfast was delicious with a variety of choices.

Room not ready by 3pm even though asked for a early check in, was 3:45pm before ready and had a tour booked for 4pm. Elevator capacity a problem when lots of people checking out at the 11am, took 30 minutes to get luggage to lobby.

The hotel was in an excellent location in center city, Athens, close to main attractions, dining, metro. The rooms were lovely, and the breakfast was delicious. Best of all, the staff was exceptional!

The elevator system , consisting of 2, tiny elevators, holding a limit of 2people, was very aggravating. One morning we had to wait 10 minutes for an elevator to go to the 8th floor for breakfast.

Check in was to be 3pm but was late for two of three rooms booked and we had a 4pm pick up planned for a tour. Did not get into last room until 3:45pm.

Excellent location. Beautiful views of the Acropolis - day and night time from the restaurant. I only wish we got the Acropolis facing room instead of the road facing one which was super noisy. Had a decent view though with the Temple of Zeus. Main bit is that its walking distance to Acropolis and surrounding areas. Restaurant was a bit expensive but has great views so must do a dinner there. Breakfast was very good.

Rooms could have been done up a bit more. Seemed very bare as you enter them.

The location was perfect. it was right in the old town with a view of the Acropolis from the roof top restaurant. The acropolis entrance was a 5 minute walk. Perfect for shops and restaurants and walking tours. Our room was a superior double with a view of the temple of Zeus.

The bathroom was internal with no window or extractor fan so not good for dampness or odors. The 2 lifts for 8 floors only fit 2 persons so could involve a bit of waiting.

The hotel was able to provide 3 rooms that were next to each other which was one of the requests I made as we were traveling with family. The roof top provided a spectacular view of the Acropolis and city of Athens.

Honestly I'm not sure if this comment is for Athens Gate or for Booking.com but it was very difficult to book accommodations and understand what we were actually getting in terms of beds. I was traveling with my 4 adult and very tall children so I wanted BEDS not sofas for them to sleep in. Athens Gate did provide beds so that was great. However, I thought I had selected all 3 rooms to have 2 single beds and we ended up getting 3 rooms with all queen beds. This was great for me and my husband but not for our adults kids. Not the end of the world. A guest in the lobby did switch rooms with us so we had two twins for our daughter and son. Nothing wrong with the rooms at all. Also the restaurant upstairs had a wonderful view and breakfast was lovely. However we had dinner there and the timing was way off. We waited 20 - 30 minutes for our drinks and then got our appetizers and meals served all at once so it felt rushed. Other tables around us made the same comments. Athens offers so many options of places to eat, I might suggest a cocktail on the rooftop to get the amazing lit view. If you want a fast meal, it's fine and if you are okay with smaller portions. I have young growing men so they were kind of hungry afterwards. Not the best dining experience on our final night.

Proximity to a lot of sites and especially the Plaka district was an absolute bonus.

Breakfast is fairly late start when you want to get out and about for a full day.
