Some rooms are a little dated and need some TLC. Shower was temperamental.

Stayed here after a trip to Chester zoo. Huge room with huge bathroom. Didn’t know there was a pub at the bottom which was good so we could have food after a long day. Staff were super friendly and attentive throughout. Nice quiet evening considering it’s on a main road and a good price for the night. Will definitely be staying again.

Nice quiet room at the back of the hotel.

We were leaving early for the Open at Hoylake and found the door to reception locked - nobody had bothered to tell us we should leave via the fire exit!

The location was just 10 min walk from the train station with under 1hr comute to Liverpool Central, the food was very good, all of the staff was very polite, helpful & sociable. The bar & eateries area was very large with TVs on display & not overcrowded do plenty of space around you, also rooms were very clean & comfortable

Room clean and very quiet at night. Easy parking and easy walk in to Chester.

Room was clean but very tired & in need of a full refurbishment. Dark and quite small. En suite also very tired fittings and decor. Very limited hanging space for clothing.Just passable for a very short stay.

The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. Easy to order a drink on the app. Breakfast was fine and staff went the extra mile to bring it to the room for us

The rooms were small, the beds were hard and the walls were thin. We hardly had any sleep due to the bed being hard and next door coming in really drunk and noisy. The rooms need a lot of work as the paint was peeling off the walls quite badly. Yes this was £166 for two nights but even so we didn't expect a tatty room -. It looked newly decorated in the advertising pictures. Would like a refund but can't get hold of the manager.

Clean accomodation, comfortable bed, good location

The noise. We could hear music, singing, arguments until 4am. Struggled to sleep because of this. Complained to staff the following day and were offered a reimbursement. Accepted this and had planned to include this in the review, but following this all correspondence has been ignored by the hotel and no refund issued.

the walls need sound proofing as someone come back really late and was having a conversation next door and I heard every word amongst other things 🤦🏽‍♀️ so that was the only down fall

Great location, lovely accommodation and considering it's part of a pub, we didn't hear any noise in our room and slept very well.

The property is quite run down. In need of a makeover. The rooms are so small that there isn’t enough space for a set of drawers or a wardrobe. We lived out of our case for 3 nights. The website photographer must be a magician.

the staff here are all so lovely, 100% went out of there way to make our stay as comfortable and stress free as possible. me and my partner brought my little sister so we could attend Chester zoo today and didn’t have to do the trip all in one day. the hotel staff where brilliant, especially the women on the desk who checked us in(Emma) she was brilliant and also made sure to make us aware of the boxing on late and advised it could be a bit loud, there was a tiny bit of noise but it didn’t affect our stay. the room was lovely and massive for the 3 of us, so comfortable. the location was good as well with it taking us about 20 minutes to walk into Chester. came down for tea and had breakfast, both above what I would expect a pub to serve. can’t fault them! highly recommend, if we ever come back to Chester we will be staying here again!

The room was fine - small, but comfortable and clean. The bed was extremely comfy, with duvet, firm mattress, and multiple pillows. Bathroom great. Good shower, nice soap/shower gel. Nice clean kettle, good size cups, and plenty of tea/coffee. Breakfast was good, and a reasonable price. Staff were all friendly & welcoming and really helpful & responsive.

Some of the walls need re-painting - looks a little shabby in places (especially inside the bedroom). Also, there is no lift, so be prepared to carry your bags up a flight of stairs. Breakfast is served in the public bar, although not a problem early morning.

Convenient location, about 15 - 20 mins walk from city centre.

One of the steps up to the entrance is missing a tile/slab and some internal areas look tired, need some repair then redecoration.

Had to report that toilet had been used. Evening meal had obviously been dished up for some time before coming to table, mash was crusty. Staff were very apologetic. Walls in room in need of decorating.
