Alex met us at the dock with mules in tow to help us find the house and get our luggage delivered. He then gave us a wonderful history of the house and town, as well as restaurant recommendations, as we walked the 400 or so steps to the house. Every one of them worth it! The view was fantastic, the house terrific. This is such a unique place. Loved by the whole family.

It was a privilege to have the opportunity to stay in such a remarkable home. Everything about it was exceptional - the elegant architecture, the personal treasures, the ample space, the views and the generous welcome. Perched high on the hill, it was a haven from the hustle and bustle of the port, and caught a gentle breeze even in the middle of the hottest days. The effort to climb the stairs (easily managed by an active middle aged couple and our young adult children) was more than rewarded every time we entered the lounge and saw the jaw dropping view. Hydra port is a very special place and Rallou House is even more so. We look forward to returning some day.
We found very little to dislike. The WIFI was patchy in a few of the rooms (thought the owners have added multiple APs to alleviate this and both Vodafone and Nova mobile data connections were solid). Apart from that no-one in our part of 5 had any complaints.

The outstanding view over the town from the property. It is an interesting family home with many levels and terraces. The island has an amazing restful atmosphere due to the absence of cars and hopefully this will not change.

The loved staying in a traditional Greek home that full of art to enjoy. The views from the many terraces were beautiful. The property owner went out of her way to assist us with arranging transportation from the Athens airport to the Rallou House. Sophia meet us at the harbor and assisted us with grocery shopping on the way to the house.
It was perfect for us. It is a hike up from the harbor, so you need to be able to walk up stairs and would be difficult for someone with limited mobility.

The property was wonderful and the view amazing. The outdoor space was fantastic and internally it was authentically furnished and well equipped. The host was very helpful and kind. We loved everything about it.

We loved everything about the house: from the amazing view, numerous terraces and outdoor spaces, the authenticity of the place, to its tasteful decoration. The host was kind to leave us bottles of water, a bottle of wine, bread, butter and honey as well as a pack of coffee. The house was also stocked with salt, oil and spices for cooking. The beds were very comfortable. The air conditioning in each bedroom was welcome on hot days. On cooler days we enjoyed leaving the windows open for natural ventilation.
As we traveled as a family, we did not mind having to share the bathroom on the same floor as the bedrooms. There was another bathroom one level down which was small and not as convenient which we never used to bathe. We liked the fact that there were staircases to access the different spaces in the house but it could be a negative for some people. Likewise, we enjoyed the walk up and down to the port but it is quite a hike, something to know about.

The house has an amazing atmosphere and is very beautiful designed in traditional Greek way. The view from the living room and rooftop terrace is mesmerizing and unique. The house has very good facilities: two bathrooms and a washing machine. The host was very kind and helped us in an emergency situation.
Overall, the house was fantastic; however it is located in one of the highest points of Hydra that requires a fifteen-minute walk up the mountain by stairs everyday. For us it was difficult when we had to carry groceries or other heavy things.

Architecture, view, interior, details, privacy everything exceptional . Short walk up to the house is perfect for burning calories after delicious food at the port. Maybe one if the best views on Hydra.

Sophia, the host, was very very nice and helpful, sharing her knowledge about the area and before the stay provided us with info about how to best get to the island, then waited for us at the harbour and gave us a thorough tour of the incredible house, which is well represented in the photos.
The location is amazing, being so high on the island provides a wonderful view of the harbour, the whole island, and of the sunsets.
