We had the best time at this hideaway downtown - everything was so close, but once in the house it was peaceful and felt secluded. Beds were comfortable, we LOVED the step-in shower, and the washer and dryer were really convenient. We had everything we needed in the kitchen. We loved it and would 100% stay here again!

We enjoyed our visit very much. Central location walkable to all of the main spots in Bar Harbor. Parking was easy and the Cafe next door was not bothersome. You can get breakfast right across your parking lot if you want. You can catch the shuttle easily to Acadia on a 2 minute walk from this place. Acadia and most other things are working a 15 minute drive. Our host was wonderful and there were delicious treats and a bottle of wine when we arrived. All together excellent experience.

We had a wonderful stay. The property is steps away from downtown Bar Harbor. Visited all the shops downtown while taking nightly walks after dinner. Most shops are open until at least 9 pm. Got popovers and blueberry crisp from The Stadium, and enjoyed a few nightly concerts on the green along with some nightly ice creams and walks on the shore path. Property is less than a 10 minute drive from nice walks at Compass Harbor, Schooner Head, or the Great Head above sand beach. Everything is so close. Property was very clean and had all the amenities needed. The Cafe next door had a sign out notifying the patrons to allow us to drive in and out in the mornings, which was never an issue. Woke up early a few mornings with the delivery trucks at the cafe and the early morning patrons along with some singing birds. If the windows were closed, we were able to sleep in. My son enthusiastically recommends the poutine at Blaze. Thanks for a wonderful week full of memories.

The Hideaway was wonderful! The house was immaculate and in the center of town, yet quiet and peaceful, the kitchen was equipped with everything you would ever need including sharp knives! We had a wonderful week!

The Hideaway was the perfect Bar Harbor stay. Walkable to the entire downtown area, yet private. The home is bright, beautiful and has the best equipped kitchen of any VRBO I have stayed in. Ann is a wonderful host- responsive and thoughtful- including a loveliest welcome basket.

Location, location, location. You couldn't beat it. Just steps away from all the action but secluded enough to have your privacy also. Enough room for my 5. Cooked breakfast most mornings to save up for the best lobster rolls at The Traveling Lobster, don't bother with any others. Would head out most mornings to The Stadium for the best Popovers and coffee and take to the park and enjoy the view of the harbor. Cafe across the way has rhe best blueberry pancakes. Love the crispy edges. Ann is so sweet and very responsive to any questions i had. Definitely will be returning... BUT only thing I hope is different when we return in 2025, is the mattress. To hard for my wife and I. But all the other +'s would keep is coming back. Thanks again Ann!

The house was impeccably clean when we showed up and there was the nicest welcome basket and note. We felt at home right away and found the gathering spaces great for curling up and spending time together. The most amazing part of the property though was the location. It managed to be quiet enough to relax and still be just steps from the excitement of Bar Harbor. To be able to walk out into the bustle of the shops/restaurants and then retreat within minutes was unique and fantastic. For our family there wouldn’t have been a better place to stay in town.

Had a great stay! The photos do not do the property justice. It was very spacious and bright and the outdoor area was beautiful. Well equipped kitchen and the location was fantastic and walking distance to everything in town. Our favorite hikes in the park were a short 5 minute drive. Had we stayed later in the season the Island Explorer would have been a great option and would have been a short walk up the driveway. We are already looking forward to our next visit!

If you want to enjoy the fun of Bar Harbor, this is the perfect location! Steps away from the park and lots of great restaurants and bars.

Great location and Ann made us feel right at home . We would love to come back to do all the things that there just wasn’t time for. The property has everything you need inside and out. All you have to do is show up and relax .

I returned to this property having stayed there 5 years ago. It is located in the heart of Bar Harbor within walking distance of all the busy shops and restaurants as well as the famous Shore Path walk. It is in a quiet little side street with its own parking for 3 vehicles. There is a handy restaurant next door that has no parking, so all guests walk in, meaning no noise or exhaust. The charming house has everything and is my choice over common motel/hotel accommodations. My family of three enjoyed our time so much. A fine location for daytrips all over the island and beyond.

This home is adorable, spacious and in a great part of town. The owner was generally very responsive, except we didn’t receive check-in information and the night before our flight we were worried we didn’t have accommodations and had to reach out to VRBO for assistance. Owner apologized, and it was clearly an oversight. I’m only mentioning now in case it happens to someone else - I do believe she is trustworthy, so you don’t have to worry! The cons of the property are as follows: no A/C, so if it’s an unusually hot summer (or … global warming), the house is hot. It was 86 degrees inside the house the first weekend. Ann gave us extra fans, but please be aware. Also, because there’s no A/C, windows need to be open during the summer. The house is right next to a charming breakfast cafe, so we were awakened most nights by delivery trucks from 2:30 - 4 am, beeping as they backed into the driveway shared by house and restaurant. Then the restaurant began setting up the patio for service around 5:30 am, but by then the sun had also risen so there was no hoping the kids would go back to sleep. Needless to say, we got very little sleep and were exhausted. Ann was very kind and got the kids eye masks, but unfortunately that didn’t help as they were for adults and my 6-year-olds weren’t inclined to keep them on. In summary, if you are a deep sleeper, then you will be fine and this house is a gem! If not, I don’t advise staying here until there is A/C or unless it is a colder season.

Ann was a great host would stay here again when in the Area. We enjoyed Bar harbor and all of the Surrounding towns. Great riding

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. For the age of the home, everything was functioning well and well-kept. Having a home base centered in town was invaluable as we explored the town and the national park. We would definitely stay here again.

Ann is a great host and her place is neat and has everything you need for a great stay. Fabulous location by the Village Green makes taking frequent walks around town and to the shore path very convenient. We will be back!

If you are looking to stay in the center of Bar Harbor with easy walking access to all of the shops and restaurants, then this is the perfect rental for you! We appreciated being in the heart of downtown Bar Harbor where we could walk to get our morning coffee, take a stroll downtown to get ice cream after dinner and be close enough to come back quickly home if our little one needed a nap. Being at this location made it very easy to travel all around Mount Desert Island for our daily adventures. Our host made us feel welcomed by providing a personal note and a basket of snacks upon our arrival. The home is spacious and bright. We appreciated all of the thoughtful amenities that made us feel at home, like the washer and dryer, stocked cupboard of dishes and plates as well as the plentiful amount of towels available for us after a long day of hiking and exploring the Island. Be mindful that if you are traveling with little ones that this home has a luxurious shower, but no bath tub. Fortunately my daughter loved the shower so it worked well for us this week. While the listing for this home claims, "Newly renovated. Mint condition," there are clearly some things that were missed to not make this statement 100% accurate that we will personally share with the host. However, we throughly enjoyed our stay here and would highly recommend this home to any traveler who is looking to have a private space just steps away from the center of downtown Bar Harbor.

This was the perfect place to stay in Bar Harbor for our party of four adults. The house is within walking distance to everything in Bar Harbor while being a short drive (less than 15 minutes) to multiple Acadia park entrances. When the crowds poured into Bar Harbor and parking became challenging it was so nice to have our own no hassle parking spot at our oasis in the middle of it all. Ann was a generous host, very easy to communicate with and meeting her was a highlight of our trip. A hidden gem is the bar next door in The Main Store. We would definitely stay here again!

First of all, Ann, the property owner is wonderful. Her place was spotless and was stocked with everything that was needed to feel at home. She surprised us with a delightful welcome basket that was thoroughly enjoyed by my whole family. We chose this property for several reasons; it accommodated a family of 5 beautifully, walkability throughout the village & shore drive, and had off street parking. Here's the caveat, the restaurant Cafe This Way extended their seating area and by doing so creates no place for people who are waiting for a table to go...so they pile into your driveway and all over the side street. This makes it very difficult to come and go with the car. I had to get out several times to direct people to move. For whatever reasons, people wouldn't move. The cafe helped assist maybe once. The delivery trucks in the middle of the night are very loud too, but fans in the window are very helpful. Those are provided too! So if you don't mind a little hassle coming and going, and maybe people lingering in your private driveway, and aren't a light sleeper, than this is the place for you. My family and I were able to work around these things, but they were definitely an incovienence. Nothing that Ann could do to prevent any of this, but people should be aware prior to booking that this is part of the deal.

House was very nice and well kept. Host was very easy to work with and made our stay feel like home. Location is great to access just about anything in Bar Harbor or go to Acadia National Park. Driveway is tricky since it is next to a couple of restaurants and people were standing in line. Enjoyed our stay!

This was our second time staying at the Hideaway and we loved it just as much as our first stay in 2018. The location is unbeatable and the three rooms, one with two beds is perfect for families.

Ideally located within walking distance of everything in Bar Harbor and a quick drive to Acadia. Cafe This Way is literally a few steps from the front door of the hideaway. The property felt very tucked away and private despite being right in the middle of everything. Ann was a lovely & welcoming host!

Awesome experience. The house and owner were great. It had all the amenities we needed. Close to all the dining and shopping in Bar Harbor. We were minutes from hiking, kayaking and biking. It was a great vacation. We hope to see Ann and stay again in the future

We loved everything about this Bar Harbor hidden gem! It's location , amenities, parking, and quaintness, made it the perfect rental for the two of us! Loved the spa inspired bathroom and shower, the amenities such as fresh towels and linens, washer and dryer, dish washer and cable tv, as well as basic necessities such as paper towels, toilet paper, soap, laundry soap and softener, dishwasher liquid, basic cleaning supplies, and firewood for the outdoor firepit. Last but not least, the amazing welcome basket, filled with cheese, fruit, wine coffee ., milk, and cookies , was a great surprise, and was greatly appreciated! My only wish was that we could have stayed longer. We will surely stay here again, as Ann was wonderful to work with, and made our stay an enjoyable one.
