We absolutely loved our time in Monterey. The home is spacious and beautiful. It had everything we needed to enjoy our stay.

Very comfortable house for all of us. We enjoyed the wood stove which really heats up. the kitchen is well equipped, has everything we needed; Very convenient to Great Barrington; the owner was very easy to work with. Hope to return again!

Well I think that the online photos were taken years ago. We drove by the house & then had to turn around. That was the start. From the entrance being crooked to the floors creaking the hose was older than we expected. Only modern appliance was the fridge & washing machine. Very small bedrooms upstairs to VERY SMALL bathrooms. Now the long walk to the dock. If you want to get in shape this is the place for you.

Lovely stay. The lakeside is beautiful and so relaxing. Beds are very comfortable and there was plenty of room for all of us.

Extremely easy, house was beautiful and spacious. Fishing from the dock was awesome. 22 fish in 7 hours, 5 different species. Had a visit from a bear, awesome. The path to the lake is difficult but doable for most people.

Very charming and comfortable house with a lot of bedrooms. Great to have one room to hang out in farther away from beds upstairs so parents can hangout and not wake up kids. Owner was very helpful. Definitely recommend.

We would have liked to know how difficult it was to get down to the water. Wife is 75 and couldn’t manage it. Bears gave us a thrill but scary for the grandchildren. The home was spacious and beautiful. Would recommend it.

Our group of 7 from college had a great stay at this property, the home was clean and spacious and Marybeth was very responsive to any and all questions we had. The walk to the dock was a little farther than expected but nothing we couldn't handle. Once you're down at the dock though, you never want to leave. The lake was beautiful and quiet, and the fishing was amazing! Couldn't have been a better weekend away!

The property is located very close to Great Barrington and Butternut Ski Area. We had planned to ski for a day and this place was perfect for our group. The house had an antique feel but it was equipped with modern equipments and furniture for comfort. Mary responded prompty and was very helpful with the check-in/out and house instructions. Would definitely recommend staying at her place.

This property exceeded expectations and had more character and charm than the listing photos showed. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and the host was very easy to work with and accommodating.. We would stay here again.

We loved staying at Mary Beth’s place. It is large, and has several common spaces, so multiple people can enjoy privacy or quiet times. The area is beautiful. We were able to enjoy nice walks and hikes right out the front door. We also enjoyed Lake Garfield (Except for some loud motorboats on occasion.) Getting to the lake requires some downhill hiking (and uphill return). It is a little bit strenuous. The boats are right at the dock, which makes using them easy. The kitchen is well stocked, and large, making meal prep easy. The décor is attractive. And the sofas are cozy. The beds are very comfortable. There are 2 bathrooms, on the first floor. Since there is only one bedroom on the first floor, most guests will have to come downstairs to use it. Things that weren’t accurate in the listing: When looking for a place to stay, we rejected all listings that did not supply sheets and towels (as we anticipated a tight squeeze in our small car.) So we were upset when we heard at the last minute, only after we had paid in full, that we had to bring our own. Mary Beth said that this is COVID-related, but to the best of my knowledge, there is no science suggesting using freshly washed sheet (or washing guests’ sheets) endangers anyone. Likewise, we did not hear until a few days before our stay that “We will have limited supplies of toilet paper available for your use … Please buy ‘septic safe’ toilet paper.” It is difficult for us to understand why there would not be adequate TP for our use. We had to make a special trip to the store (at this time of COVID) to get a specific brand. And finally, we were asked at the last minute to either bring our trash to a Transfer Station (which was not open on the day we left) or to take it with us (impossible of our small car). We left it behind, but informed Mary Beth of that fact so someone could remove it. Since the fee included a cleaning fee, we were unhappy to have had these things outsourced to us. And from now on, before we make our final reservation with VRBO, we will ask, “Will there be anything required of us that you have not stated here, but that you will tell us right before we arrive?” And I would like to suggest that Mary Beth include these requirements in her listing, so that future potential guests can make an informed decision. That said, we are happy we stayed in this lovely house and area. And we appreciate all the nice touches.

Beautiful home for our entire family. The home has a wonderful kitchen island where we started our day before the family headed down to the dock for kayaking and canoeing. The owner was easy to work with and her recommendations were spot on. Looking forward to going back.

This was a great place to stay very quiet in the woods, clean and equipped with everything you need to relax and enjoy some family time. The only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is the walk to the lake is more than 30 feet from the house, and you have to walk down a very steep incline to get to the private access which would of been nice to know ahead of time. Other that great place lots of fun!

We absolutely loved the property, the fishing is great on Lake Garfield. The owners are very responsive and truly care about the property and care that the renters are happy. We had many visits by different species of wildlife. Would definitely rent again.

We were overjoyed to spend the weekend in this lovely Lake Garfield home. The scenery was picture perfect for relaxation. The lake is peaceful and perfect for canoeing and kayaking which was very conveniently part of the home (lake front dock included). My family can’t wait to return again in the future! The host was super helpful and gave us great tips. The surrounding area is bucolic and spectacular. Thank you thank you thank you!

We had a cozy and comfortable stay for New Year's. The owner was responsive and helpful and the house was a great fit for two families of four.

We loved our weekend at your lake home. Plenty of room, nicely decorated, enjoyed sitting on the front porch, short walk to their dock, close walk to Garfield beach. Friendly and accommodating hosts.

I spent a lovely 3 weeks at this house. It was very comfortable and spacious. I & my guests enjoyed having all our meals on the screened-in porch. Large well equipped kitchen. Two bathrooms on 1st floor. First floor bedroom was large. The four bedrooms on the 2nd floor were quite adequate. Less than 1 mile to the beach at Lake Garfield.

Kids had a blast on the water! The only thing I'd suggest is that there needs to be a safer way to get down to the water. The "nature trail marked by steel hand rail" that's supposed to be used to access the dock is overgrown and especially treacherous if it's the least bit wet. There should be a way to access the dock using whomever's stairs that are there and without the fear that someone is going to get upset about it...

This is our second time at the lake cabin and we found it to be very clean, well stocked and very comfortable for our family. The lake is beautiful for swimming or relaxing on the dock. It's a 10 minute walk to the dock and we used the canoe and also kayaked around the lake. We are lucky that the host was very responsive and let us book at the last minute. We will definitely come back this fall!

The owner was very cooperative, allowing us to arrive early and leave later. But there were a number of problems that she was unable to address, in part because it was a holiday weekend and caretakers did not respond. We arrived at dinner time wanting to rush to make dinner for two young grandchildren. We found unmade beds (and had to hunt to find sheets for all but the master bedroom), light bulbs out (and many of the rooms are dark), an overgrown lawn, accumulated leaves and other debris on the patio and the few outdoor chairs and an empty barbecue gas cannister. We called the owner who did not respond until the next day. She directed us to a replacement gas cannister in the garage and tried to get someone to mow the lawn and replace bulbs but that never happened. In token recognition of the condition of the house, she waived the cleaning fee. The location of the property, near a wonderful lake, served us well, even though the dock area , canoe and kayak were loaded with debris from the winter and cast away metal brackets of some sort. Many of the problems we encountered can be addressed. The house, however, is poorly laid out: three of the four bedrooms are on the second floor but both bathrooms are on the ground floor. The house and grounds need more maintenance to be up to rental par.

The host responded quickly to questions, and the home is large and has everything you need. We were there in Winter, and were very comfortable. highly recommended!
