All good and no complaints from us đź‘Ť

V interesting ancient building, but comfy modern bed and en suite. Every member of staff friendly and helpful… v nice atmosphere throughout. Bar meal good standard and generous cooked breakfast- to order, not buffet!
Sl noisy c window open in night ( v warm December!)

Never got to stay. Hotel uncontactable on the night of the stay. Payment declined mistakenly by Booking.com and PayPal (but actually went through) so stayed in another hotel at a cost 50%more than this one. No contact made from management when I raised the issue.
Anything. Between booking.com, the hotel, and PayPal I have lost out on ÂŁ103.50 after making a claim that was refused. Never got to stay at the hotel through no fault of my own so why should I be charged?! DISGUSTING from all parties involved!!!

Fabulous food in the restaurant both for evening meal and breakfast. The staff were very fresh and helpful. The room was full of character and very clean.
The only minor thing was there was only basic tv and unable to chess my WiFi, other wise loved it.

Good breakfast friendly staff

The pub was very traditional and as you would image from a coaching inn very historical. The staff (and customers) were extremely friendly, drinks were good value and the evening mean was fantastic and great fun cooking by stone at the table.
The breakfast was good quality but plates were cold so the food cooled very quickly but overall it was a minor issue and not worth raising at the time.
Look out for the car park entrance its easily missed.

The bar dinner was excellent. The room was warm and comfortable. All the staff were friendly and hospitable.
Craig was particularity helpful even though he was on a break. We were grateful that there was generous car
parking space when we arrived later than expected.
No complaints.

We wanted a classic old English pub and this was it. Low beams , rickety staircases and a route to our room that we needed satnav to repeat. It was centrally situated in one of the longest and most attractive high streets in the country.
The room was perfect with everything we needed and spotlessly clean. We arrived on a Sunday and sadly the dining room was closed but breakfast the next day was a feast.
All the staff were lovely.
Any improvements would have reduced the character of the place

Loved the property, it was very quaint and had lots of charm and character. The rooms were very spacious and we appreciated having 2 fans to cool the room down during the very hot weather. Food in the restaurant was excellent. We will definitely be visiting again soon.

Nice welcome on arrival. Lovey big room. Situated right on the high street with free parking at the rear. Very good breakfast menu.
The restaurant was fab but not sure about the stone cooking of steaks yourself. Looking round some people seemed to love it but could be a bit strange if not told exactly what to expect/do.

The room was fine! Comfy twin beds, large bathroom. All clean! Just what we needed for the 1 night stay. Staff were so friendly, making sure we were having a great stay! Yummy breakfast too. Very happy we stayed here. Our room was ready at 12.30pm too, which was amazing!
The only negative was that our bathroom door would not stay shut or lock. Staying with a friend... well we had to prop it shut! An easy fix though. Other than this, everything was fab!

Staff were wonderful, food excellent , for the elderly the stairs were a problem and the hand rails were sticky and needed cleaning

Nice old world style hotel, good welcome from staff, a good introduction to our stay.
More stairs than expected, possibly my fault for not asking the question before booking,

We enjoyed The Restaurant particularly the decor. The room was nicely furnished and a reasonable sizee. The location was ideal for visiting National Trust properties.
Because this was an old coaching inn it required several flights of stairs to reach the rooms on the first floor. We stayed for three nights and on two of them we were awakend by people laughing and talking in loud voices just before midnight. They were seated at tables immediately below our room and despite our request for them to move on (the pub closed at 10.00 pm) they continued to be noisy for at least half-an-hour.

Central position .
Staff shortage, but perhaps unavoidable.

Love location
Single glazing windows , outside eating and smoking area below the window, so if you want a good night, sleep take, earplugs or maybe ask for another room. Tables in the bar were sticky with food in between the groves.

Great location, Loved our dinner in the bar.
bit disappointed there was no fruit and yoghurt for breakfast.

Having seating and covered area below the bedroom windows is very noisy. We could not open windows due to people smoking below. Awful

Would not return or recommend
No staff on site
Shower didn’t work, when I called for support at 6:30am no one responded, when I went downstairs to look for someone there were zero staff and the venue was locked up.
There is a pub garden outside of your window so you won’t be able to sleep until 11:30/12
No lift for a large suitcase
I didn’t attempt the breakfast

I loved the design of the room and the fact there was biscuits and conditioner for the shower. These little touches really made my stay.
became a bit confused about the parking and ended using one of the town free parking. Also please have veggie lasagne next time.

Great breakfast, comfortable bed, friendly and helpful staff, great location and evening menu was great.
There were a number of noisy smokers outside at 10.30pm and the room was a little warm. Shower could have been more powerful.

The room was lovely and comfortable.
The pillows were very high and quite hard.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The location great.
My room was right by the courtyard and when dinner guests left when the bar was closing were very rowdy and woke me up on a few occasions.
