Fabulous stay, the place was clean, comfortable and cosy with a nice area outside to sit and play. Hosts were fantastic, they provided us with a sample of their own eggs and honey and thought about everything, there are books available to read, a file full of maps of local walks, bicycle routes, local entertainment, restaurant menus. Cottage has fully equipped kitchen, lots of room for storage, very comfortable bed, everything top quality. Location is great, far from busy roads and quiet but a stone throw from Stamford. Very peaceful place, perfect for relaxing. Highly recommend and hope we will come back soon.
Nothing, everything was perfect :)

What an absolute gem in a lovely rural location. Kate and Richard are so warm and welcoming and their beautiful property is VERY special. We combined biking with a business meeting and some splendid food and beer at The Six Bells at Witham so win win! We were very touched to be given homegrown tomatoes and cucumber and honey...how good is that! Supper tonight sorted! Jealous of the hollyhock profusion!
We will return..xxxx Sue and Bill

The location of The Retreat at Clematis Cottages was lovely. I really enjoyed the drive to and from the Rutland Show ground each day.
The immediate setting was lovely too with pretty gardens all so beautifully tended and pond attracting feeding swallows. The peace and quiet was much appreciated.
It was great to park so conveniently and to have everything I needed in the cottage for a very comfortable stay.
Richard and Kaye were kind hosts, welcoming but not intrusive. I’m sorry I didn’t eat the tomatoes and cucumber you kindly left me!
While I appreciate the need for owners to maintain and protect their property, it made me very sad to see the nets up around the nooks and crannies of the lovely old building. These were such perfect nesting sites for swifts and swallows who only return to us for a few months each year to have and rear their young. It is one of my greatest wishes that we can learn to live with wildlife and not see it as a problem.

Very comfortable accommodation in a lovely, quiet location that was handy for Stamford and Burghley. The EV charger is a real bonus - it was great to be able to charge my car overnight. Many thanks to Richard and Kaye for making the effort to meet the needs of EV drivers.

We upgraded to the Eco barn for a bit more space. It was amazing. The lounge is upstairs so you can enjoy the views. The kitchen was so well equipped it’s easy to self cater . Richard and Kaye were the ideal hosts too.
Could not fault a thing !

Cleanliness of the place and friendly hosts. The location was so nice and quiet and peaceful.

No problem finding Clematis Cottages on Aunby Lodge Farm and being on a converted old farm there was plenty of space to walk around. A very peaceful location. We bought several jars of homemade jams and jellies from the owners and had some lovely chats with them. Had disability issues with the Retreat, but Kay was very kind to let us stay in Clematis Cottage which made life a lot easier.
The bed was the only problem we had as we are used to a much firmer mattress, but otherwise everything else was perfect.

Kaye is really friendly and helpful. The property is lovely. It's clean, well maintained and the grounds are fabulous. There's table tennis and a bit of pitch and putt golf that you can have fun with. There's eggs and milk supplied when you get there foc. Really was a great place.

A cosy and comfortable cottage in a lovely peaceful location with superb grounds but only a short distance from the main road network. Charming and very hospitable owners who made me most welcome. I shall hope to return for a longer stay.

We loved our time at Clematis Cottages. The Retreat lived up to its name; in a really peaceful location with uninterrupted views of the surrounding fields and hedgerows we immediately felt ourselves relax and unwind.
Everything in the extremely well equipped cottage was spotlessly clean. The shower was excellent ,as was the bed. We had packed plenty of layers for our New Year break in the country but didn't need them indoors - as it was wonderfully warm and cosy. Richard and Kaye were really helpful, informative and hospitable and we loved their eggs and honey !

Everything about our stay was perfect. The accommodation was exceptionally clean and comfortable with careful attention to detail and much appreciated extra touches e.g. fresh flowers. Cottage is set in beautifully maintained and extensive grounds. Hosts were friendly and available to offer advice and help if needed, but were in no way intrusive. Overall a wonderful stay - we would highly recommend the property.
Nothing! We loved everything about the property and our stay.

What can we say about this wonderful hidden gem … well it was just what the dr ordered :-)
A brilliant nights sleep in the comfortable bed , it had everything we needed to relax and unwind .
We were shown how honey was made by Richard , who took us too see his girls ( the bees ) it was so interesting , and the next morning we sampled their wonderful chutneys , jelly’s , pickles and honey (yummy )
We will defiantly return to this lovely well kept and clean place .
Not far from the picturesque Stamford and Burley house and gardens . PERFECT !

We really liked the location. Lovely surroundings. We were able to use the car charger most nights for our Tesla so were very happy to rely on that. Just paid for the energy used. Cottage had lots of useful facilities including dishwasher and washing machine.
Nothing :-)
