Nice rooms, beautiful property, helpful staff. Breakfast was also decent but not the best I’ve had in Costa Rica. We appreciated the opportunity to plant a couple trees on the property.
The room smelled like bug spray after every cleaning, which I did not appreciate from a hotel self described as ecofriendly and sustainable. I couldn’t sit in the room for several hours because of the bug spray smell that was unhealthy and overpowering.

Room was beautiful and very thoughtfully designed and equipped, bed was extremely comfortable. The hotel was very well equipped to deal with rain emergencies (umbrellas, golf carts, gym boots and the hotel even offered to dry our boots when they got drenched). Booking tours and activities was largely very smooth and the guides (Luis and Jessica) were great and very knowledgable and passionate about the forest (tours quite expensive, but as I would expect of booking through the hotel, and one issue with concierge booking us onto a different/more expensive tour option but we caught it). There were quite a few interesting animals walking around the property. Centre of town and nice restaurants walking distance (though return up a very steep hill - the price of being a bit secluded!). Breakfast was good and quick.
The hotel is reasonably secluded but does not have a remote feel- not necessarily an issue but something to be aware of when choosing. It also has a slightly “resort-y” feel (including daily schedule of activities), very minor niggle and entirely a matter of taste but it took away a bit from the atmosphere. We did not have hot water in the shower (it did not go above tepid), which wasn’t much of an issue for us (so we did not report it to reception - it may well have been fixable!). The bar menu is lovely and the staff incredibly nice, but the bar is not a very nice place to sit. We had dinner in the restaurant one day - it has a cosy space which was unfortunately fully reserved (it was the day we arrived), so we ate in the larger hall, which again is not a very nice space. Food is fine.

Our room was in a beautiful spot in the forest. We woke up to the sound of the Motmot bird. Can easily walk to trails of Aguti Nature Preserve, which is so nice. The included breakfast was very good.
A little trouble with the toilet flushing. They came to fix it, but it didn’t change. This may just be Costa Rica.

Very cute cabins. The staff were extremely helpful and organized all of the activities and tours for us. They also arrange the transportation to our next site. The restaurant is very reasonable and the food is clearly cooked by someone with culinary training. The poached eggs for breakfast were perfectly done, pancakes were light and fluffy. Guests have free access to the Agouti wildlife trail which is a good workout since the facility does not have a fitness room. We got a massage in the room and it was very effective. Short distance from the town where you can stop and get food. However, Monteverde is extremely hilly so it’s quite a lower body workout, especially since it’s very windy.
The kitchenette is good, but the refrigerator sometimes opens up awkwardly, depending on whether the wall is on the left or right side of the refrigerator. Could use a few more tables to put luggage to open it.

The room, the view, the food, the staff, the grounds...and the coffee!!! And, the view!
Kinda steep walkway to rooms. Stopped to catch my breath while enjoying the gardens.

The food was delicious, the hotel was one of our favourite stays in the whole of Costa Rica, and the staff would always go above and beyond to make sure you felt both welcomed and well-looked after. Just incredible!

beautiful property set in lush tropical grounds. love the bungalow style rooms with patios. the staff are just amazing and incredibly accommodating, helpful and friendly!
nothing. There is not yet a spa on site but they arranged everything for a massage therapist to come to the room, which is even better! There is no pool, but the cool temperature of Monteverde doesn’t require one.

Very nice staff, very good breakfast! The room was comfortable and well equipped:)
It’s a hotel in the middle of the jungle so you need to be prepared for bugs and flies
There’s not enough lamps there so at night you cant see anything unless you have a flashlights

Excellent location and property. We loved the cabin style room. The property is so well maintained that even the agouti seem to prefer it to their own nature reserve.
The check in process could have been more friendly and quicker. We drove from Manuel Antonio and were really tired upon arrival. She was too focused on paperwork and details that could have been processed later.

In the monteverde area it’s definitely the best hotel!
Great breakfast and the restaurant at the hotel was very good! The room so authentic and warm we loved it!
No air conditioning. We’ve been there at the wet season (October) so it was fine because it’s cold outside
