The staff were wonderfully friendly and family-oriented, which we appreciated. The pool and bar area was excellent and the kids loved it. The food and service at the restaurant were excellent and we appreciated the included breakfast. Front desk staff gave us great recommendations for enjoying the area with two small kids.
The room furnishings were pretty bare bones. There was a strong smell of insecticide throughout the grounds.

Everything was lovely. Mainly the bed and views!
The breakfast was kinda poor, as a foodie I expected more:)

Super helpful and friendly staff. Lovely, well thought out (wind and rain in Monteverde!) pool area. Great food at the restaurant - even the free breakfast was incredible. Housekeeping did an excellent job with lovely folded towels and toilet paper. It is expensive than other options, but after spending time in the area and seeing the other hotels, this was definitely great value for money.
Our room was a little tired and without a fridge. That said, it was still immaculately clean every day and with all mod cons (usb charger bedside lights, safe, hairdryer, nicely fitted bathroom) - just due a lick of paint is all.

the pool area was covered which was nice as it does rain a lot.
staff was helpful.
rooms were regular rooms but they were clean.
breakfast was good - lots of selection and was very tasty.
it seems to be less of a family place. we stayed with kids who were playing and jumping in the pool. there were other guests there that were clearly there to relax and not be bothered by kids

Free breakfast was amazing.
The setting could have been better, with a nicer view from our room

The staff went above and beyond for us during this stay and made our honeymoon really special. We had morpho butterflies and agoutis on the lawn outside the room. We loved Monteverde and our time here.
I would recommend you book the better rooms in the hotel - there's a big difference between the value rooms and the more pricey ones. The luxury rooms are absolutely incredible!

This was our last stop on our two week adventure in Costa Rica. We were so impressed with the friendly and helpful staff. Reception organised all our trips and they were also quick to resolve a problem we had with a faulty coffee machine in our room. The staff at breakfast were also very welcoming and served up a good choice including fresh fruits, eggs and local fare. A lovely looking restaurant too. The rooms were very clean and airy, coffee making facilities and coffee provided, bathrobes and daily housekeeping service. The hotel was set in pretty grounds with a nature trail and lots of hummingbirds. The pool area was undercover with a swim up bar and jacuzzi.
Nothing really. I would like to mention that the hotels location is very central to the town which is great for checking out the local restaurants but it’s not quite as at one with nature as some of the more remote hotel in the area. Also, if you prefer an outside pool with a bit of space then you may find this pool a bit claustrophobic.
This is just for your information, not necessarily a negative.

The breakfast was delicious and made to order each day. You were able to choose from a list of about 7 options and you got a simple fruit plate, juice, and coffee/tea with your meal.
The room had paper thin walls which sounded like every outside noise was inside your room. We were woken up every morning before 7am by the staff sweeping leaves. After the first night, we started experiencing small bites on our feet and ankles different than mosquito bites.

Our room was on the edge of the rainforest.
Everything was wonderful we even stayed an extra day.

The covered pool was a great feature because it rained everyday. It was very kid/family friendly. Walking distance to restaurants, a few activities, and basic amenities was also great!
We had someone get really sick in the middle of the night and the front desk was closed. Make sure to get the after hours number when you check in.

Great place, warm pools and helpful staff
Good breakfast, but I would skip dinner

The hotel is superb! The most comfy bed in the entire trip. Very clean.

The room and the bathroom were nice and clean! Staff was very friendly and helpful. We really appreciated the lounge area where we used yoga mats.
the food was terrible - we didn’t eat breakfast the following days. The pool area is very nice but the water stinks and should be changed more often.

I had a really nice stay here. I had some stomach issues while I was there, and the staff helped me with tea and room service.
The property is nice, with a heated pool and large hot tub. Restaurant wasn't mind blowing, but was food was good.
I had two complaints while I was there: (1) they didnt provide a 'do not disturb' sign, so I specifically asked them not to come clean my room, but yet they came in and moved my things, redid the bed, redid all the towels, etc. Not the end of the world, but that was what i specifically asked to NOT do... (2) I asked for a deep tissue massage, but their therapist really struggled to execute a true deep tissue (not to mention club music bass was bumping from the hotel pool), so the massage experience left me dissatisfied. They knocked off $10 from the $80 price, which was a nice gesture, but $70 is still more than I pay for an hour massage at the local Chinese spa in San Francisco where I live. Shrug
