Un établissement "agri-hotel" sympa, simple et très nature avec une jolie balade a faire dans le parc autour.
Un petit déjeuner un peu léger...peux mieux faire.

The setting was amazing the the owner's dedication to sustainability and permaculture was admirable. The food and service were very good. The staff was amazing. Very friendly and helpful.
Our only complaint is that we had trouble keeping insects out of our room. One of the screens had a hole. Also, the towels always smelled musty. This was because they were mostly air-dried after washing them as a way to conserve electricity. But perhaps something could be done about the smell.

Lovely surroundings, great location and produce grown on site and used in restaurant.
All good.

My husband and I had an amazing stay at Valle Escondido. It was one of the highlights of our 3 week Costa Rica trip and we wish we could have stayed longer.
Our room was huge, very clean and had a great view. The property itself is just beautiful and I especially love how much they value the environment and really try to make a positive impact.
I also want to give a shout out to the manager Alfredo, we went on a tour of the property with him which was just great and made our stay really special. He also gave a great recommendations for the other places we were staying in Costa Rica.
Everything was great. The only thing I would say is the road down to the property is unpaved and very bumpy, this is very normal for Costa Rica but we were a little worried about our little hire car.

Restaurant: very delicious!

Our stay at Valle Escondido was too short! This is a beautiful and peaceful property. The meals and drinks we had were absolutely delicious. I was skeptical that the rooms would be a comfortable temperature, but they were extremely comfortable with the fan running. The views and breezes are amazing. We did the guided night hike which was nice and we’re also able to explore the trails on our own. I wish we had stayed longer.

The views from the public area are incredible and the grounds are beautiful and well kept! It's a family friendly environment...our kids loved kicking a ball in the courtyard with other children. There are great hiking trails throughout the property with lots of wildlife. Breakfast was the best of all places we stayed with 4 options (including pancakes for the kids :), fresh fruit juice, and coffee. We loved the farm to table and eco friendly initiatives of the hotel/restaurant.
Our room (family room with kitchen) was very removed from the rest of the hotel, down a hill, and had no view. While it had some charm, the room/building we were in seemed aged compared to other rooms in the main area of the hotel. Make sure to check that patio/doors are properly pulled closed and locked. We came back to open doors on two occasions (...likely big gusts of wind pushed them open). Be prepared for ants...we're in the rainforest ;). There is no air conditioning, but plenty of windows for good airflow on cooler days/nights.

View was AMAZING when we first walked onto the property. Completely did not expect that - the pictures on their website don't do this hotel justice. It was gorgeous.
Beds were a little firm, but everything else was good. Getting to Monteverde - be prepared. 25 to 30k of very slow going - unpaved, potholes, tight turns, extremely steep up and downs. Patience required.

It was great for my family and I, our son played in the yard and we were able to relax and enjoy the view.

Amazing experience. The pictures on Booking.com do not do justice to the property. The view from breakfast area is breathtaking. You can plan an entire day of activities just on this property including hiking, night-walk etc. The hiking trails around the property are easy and scenic. There is a gorgeous waterfall vista in the trail. The staff are very helpful and friendly. Excellent place to stay with kids. There is even a friendly cat to keep your cat lover entertained 😊

Beautiful spacious room for a family of 4. Excellent morning breakfast service. What a view of Monteverdi mountains. Everything was perfect at a reasonable price. Had dinner at the restaurant and the vegetarian pizza was delicious
The approach road very uneven. Pleased that I had rented a 4*4 SUV else it would be very difficult to drive on the approach road to the hotel

Great location, good food that was super reasonable.
The area my room was in smelled like poop. I don't mean oh it's a farm and that is animal dung....I mean something with the water and sewer and how they were processed was over by the bank of rooms we were in and it always smelled bad.

Centrally located yet very quiet, beautiful view and sunsets, access to interesting walks in the reserve and delicious food and drink. The staff was very helpful in booking tours and drivers. The facilities are relatively simple but comfortable and clean. Wifi was good. No heat which wasn't a problem for us bc we were prepared but check the temps before you go bc the restaurant is exposed to outside and rooms could be chilly at night. All in all a great stay - would go back. Its a great way to feel a little more connected to nature than a fancier hotel might offer.
Not a major complaint but it would be good if they had some quick breakfast options in the mornings to accommodate those going on early morning tours.

Beautiful grounds and views, lovely spacious room with a balcony, good farm to table restaurant.
The power went out 3 times, once for hours in the night. My husband wasn’t able to use his CPAP machine and lost a night of sleep.

We had an amazing sunset view from our room (room 16) just loved it. The staff were very attentive and the grounds were wonderful to walk around. We enjoyed our stay. They have a lovely pond and if you are lucky you will see the pond become alive in the evening - we saw a huge 🐸

The farm was truly amazing! It was so peaceful and relaxing. There was construction going on which did disrupt our sleep but we were informed about this prior and given a discount by the owner. Overall it was an amazing place to stay. We had dinner at the restaurant both nights we stayed, food was good and the staff were lovely! We also enjoyed walking around the property and seeing the beautiful views. Would definitely recommend!

the location was fabulous and the staff and owner were very friendly and very responsive to toilet issues in our first room (they moved us the next morning).
there was a 1/2 inch gap under the door and a quarter inch gap between the French doors - in a rain forest with lots of bugs.

This place is incredible with lots of things to see and to do. Nature walk around the property was very beautiful and we saw a lot of interesting animals and plants.
We visited this place during an off season and they were doing a lot of construction and noise was not pleasant.

loved the location of this property. Stunning views. Food was excellent from the restaurant must try the Goulash, we also had Quiche, Pumpkin soup, and Pizza, very pleased with our room as we had room with Fridge and cooking facilities (we didn’t cook though) bit of a hike to town up a steep hill but not a problem for us, taxi back from town was 3000 colones. All the staff were fabulous very friendly and attentive special shout out to Memo and Sabastian who served us each Evening, also the pizza chef (sorry don’t know his name) he made the best pizzas I’ve had in CR, really enjoyed walking round the preserve saw many white nosed coaties. Thank you for our wonderful stay

loved the travels and farmstead and restaurant.
it’s more rustic than most hotels we stay at and we had to adjust so that was a bit uncomfortable for us.

We were very impressed with the friendly, knowledgeable staff who helped us book tours. Valle Escondido features a lovely restaurant that serves a lot of food grown on its farm, with a menu that accommodates a lot of dietary preferences – as a vegetarian, I was grateful for this. The best part about the hotel is that it is its own nature preserve. We got to see lots of flora and wildlife that included capuchin monkeys, coatis, agoutis, birds, and butterflies. There was easy access to stunning overlooks and views of nearby waterfalls. Most of the trails aren't too strenuous aside from a few that lead downhill at the bottom of the property. The idea here isn't about having a luxurious room, it's about getting outside and enjoying the scenery – there's a hammock garden and an open outdoor area near the reception where guests can lounge. The hotel feels remote and secluded but is an easy drive into town (less than 5 minutes) and close to the Monteverde Reserve (10-15 minutes to the park's shuttle lot).
Breakfast is only served until 8:30 am and ours took a bit too long to prep for us to make our morning tour. Rooms are well-kept, comfortable and on the basic side – ours felt a little stuffy and smelled of strong cleaning products when we first arrived but was easily remedied by opening the windows and letting the mountain breeze cleanse the space. At the time of our visit (summer 2022), there were some construction and renovations being made to certain parts of the property. There was some noise during the day, but it didn't affect our stay or enjoyment of the property.
