About this house rental
Post and Beam home with a bay view from the gated south facing deck. Full kitchen with a gas range, microwave, coffee maker, blender, Frig, dishwasher, and all utensils. There are two private bay beaches that are less than 1/2 mile walk on sandy roads. The ocean beaches and fresh water ponds are about two miles East. There is easy access to the bike path which leads from S. Wellfleet up Cape to Brewster and Provincetown.Ptown is 20 miles North. Lt. Island is ringed by the Audubon Sanctuary and has great walking and back water boating. Located at the house are two bikes(one with a child's seat), a canoe, windsurfer, and surf board. The bedrooms on the main level have a queen and a double bed, while the loft has a king bed and double futon. The basement has a full laundry. Pets are allowed except on the town beaches and Audubon trails. TV and internet access with direct and wireless connections. Mini splits are present for hot days.
Activities: The house is located in the center of Lt. Island. It has a distant bay view with quiet sandy roads leading to two private beaches 1/2 mile in either direction from the house. There are no street lights on the island, so it is wonderful for star gazing. The bike rail trail is located 1.5 miles away on Rt. 6, and there are two bikes at the house. There is a canoe, windsurfer, and sunfish at the house but one would need a car rack, or truck to take them to either of the beaches.
Lt. Island is an exclusive location due to the causeway that leads onto the island. When tides are greater than 9.5 feet, the road will go under water for varying times depending upon the size of the tide. At high tides, the marshes to the north, east and south are wonderful for boating, bird watching, and fishing. Fishing for striped bass, blue fish and boating are best at the private north beach, while sunbathing and swimming are best at the private south beach.
Amenities: There is a Stereo system, TV, CD player, and Cassette player. Please bring extra books and movies to complement the selection already present. There is cable to the house and it supplies direct and wireless internet access and TV reception.

Enjoyed our stay.

We loved Lt Island: quiet and private, wooded and beach. And we loved the house. We spent hours on the deck, eating and playing games and reading. Great spot to relax and enjoy a quiet spot on Cape Cod.

Lieutenant's Island is secluded and peaceful, and the house absolutely suited our needs. Very sizable patio for relaxing and grilling, and a great loft space with king size bed. Also, I forgot a jacket there and the hosts graciously called me to let me know and shipped it to my house within days.

The location was really fun, the tides can get in the way but planning around was easy. Jumping off the bridge was a blast. Would definitely go back!

The uniqueness of this property allows you to explore and discover the natural features of this island. Get to the island via a one lane wooden bridge which requires you to be patient and share! A short bike ride or car ride will find you on a bay beach with few to no people around. Ocean beaches are a short ride off island. Ice cream and summer type food are served across the street at Bob’s on route 6, a family owned business who aim to please. And, behind Bob’s is the bike trail that will take you to Marconi Beach or south to Eastham. Even though Lieutenant’s Island is a secluded setting, it is surrounded with many things to do for both young and old.

Lots of personality in this quirky little house, that contains everything you could need. Perfect location on this magical island, the wooded edge of a marsh. The loft room is great, the deck is spacious and comfortable, there is a killer outdoor shower. We loved having our dog with us. Would happily return!

Overstuffed oouse, but very positive experience.
Attractive and amazingly quiet location. Good access to many paddling sites and walking trails. High tide blocking access road a challenge but very managable. House overstuffed with collectables and excess kitchenware, but we made it work. Furnishings suitable for all our needs. Owner generous with communications. We and our pet came to feel quite at home there.

Great location! But not so great accommodationS. We absolutely love this area it is beautiful And peaceful. But the accommodations left a lot to be desired!
I could go on and on but I don’t want to be that person, but let me just say that the 25 year old coffee maker that looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in a year and the ants crawling all over the countertops and getting into our food was just not something we Enjoyed very much!I guess sometimes you just don’t get what you pay for

What a wonderful week on Lt Island! Home was spacious and comfortable, so peaceful and quiet. The walks to North and South beaches were just lovely. Have been vacationing at the cape for over 20 years and renting on this island was amazing! Will definitely return!

This is our second time staying at Fosters place and we fully intend on making it our yearly tradition. The house fits our family of 5 perfectly. There is everything you need there; from linens and towels to kitchen items to beach items. The location is the best on the cape. Quiet, secluded and not overpopulated. Jumping off of the bridge at high tide is always a crowd pleaser. I’d give this place 10 stars if I could! Thanks, Foster, for sharing your place and letting others create beautiful memories there!

We enjoyed our stay on the island. It was a beautiful peek into old Cape Cod with the scrub pines and beach within sight distance of each other. The sandy roads and the main road leading to the island were true joys to walk on with our dog.

Palmer's house is a fun, quirky spot that feels far from any hustle and bustle of Route 6. Lt. Island is a beautiful, secluded spot in Wellfleet. Palmer's house is just a 10 minute walk to a bay side beach, where at low tide you can walk far out into the bay looking at crabs. Although it's technically a public beach, it was very quiet most of the time, and the island itself is tucked out of the way. The house was well-appointed with kitchen items, a plethora of clean towels and sheets, two baby gates, beach chairs, an old boogie board, an amazing, multi-spouted outdoor shower, and little interesting nooks to explore. If you're looking for pristine, brand-new, big box store items, this isn't the place for you, but if you appreciate a more relaxed, homey feel with quirky charm, it's a great place to enjoy all Wellfleet has to offer. My one complaint is that the full-sized bedroom had two large dressers that dominated the room. One was topped with an assortment of animal sculptures, which were fun to look at, but the bulk of the furniture made it less restful, especially for smaller children. The owner was super responsive and helpful for a variety of questions we had. Definitely a great choice if you like quirky charm and are interested in exploring a more out of the way place on the outer cape!

Beautiful island quiet vacation
Durning uncertain times, this was the perfect spot for our vacation. We loved the beauty and quiet of Lieutenant’s Island. The beaches which were a short walk from the house on scenic sand roads, were beautiful and uncrowded. The house was large and very clean, with a wonderful deck with both shade and sun. Two sliding doors from the deck provided great ventilation. The bedrooms were good sized and the bed was comfortable. The open space living room/ kitchen was very comfortable and decorated eclectically. Foster was very helpful, answering all of our questions and giving us information about the island and how to get to the beaches. We had a wonderful vacation!

Great location, good place at a good price
Nice, quirky place in a great location. 4 beaches within a 10 minute walk, plus ponds, beaches and national seashore galore within a 20 minute drive. We had a great time.
The house has its quirks but the price reflects that. Foster was easy to work with.

Perfect spot
We’ve been staying at Lieutenant Island for years and Foster’s place did not disappoint. Well appointed kitchen with everything you could ask for, spacious bedrooms, tons of windows for the ocean breezes and a huge deck to enjoy. Plenty of fans, an air conditioner, towels, linens an outdoor shower all add to the convenience and comfort. I would definitely recommend staying here!

Beatiful house on a quite Lieutenant Island
From the first minute we just loved this place. The Lieutenant island is quite and beautiful, has two private beaches (you will not need a sticker). The house is big and comfortable, has everything you need ,including bicycles, beach umbrella and chairs, beach towels. Beds are very comfortable, and kitchen is well equipped. The owner was ready to help with everything and responded to all the questions fast. We have had a great vacation and no complaints!!!! Would highly recommend.

Fabulous place to stay
This home is wonderful for those seeking the beauty and quiet of Lieutenant’s Island. The owner was incredibly responsive- we got there and the fridge had been having problems for the previous tenant. It was a drag to be without a fridge for the first day- but the owner did everything in his power to remedy the situation and we had a brand new fridge the next afternoon- on a Saturday no less. He also came and fixed the outdoor shower for us while we were here. The place is comfortable, clean, quiet, and really truly wonderful and special.

Palmers On Lieutenant Island
This timber-framed house is nestled in the island's scrub pine and is a rare discovery for those disenchanted with the commercialism and traffic which has come to characterize many parts of the Cape. Here is a place of solitude governed only by the weather and the tides. In the morning you can smell the salt air and walk down a dirt lane to the beach; mid-day you can swim at the causeway and in the evening you can listen to the breeze in the pines and hear a distant fog horn. And the sunsets from the beach are the most beautiful I've ever seen. The house features an open living room with a tall truss-supported ceiling and sliding glass doors to promote natural air circulation, two bedrooms with beamed ceilings and a sleeping loft under the roof with large opening skylights. Several antique stained glass windows and a small pipe organ lend character to this comfortable and airy retreat. There is an outdoor deck with both shade and sun for relaxing, reading and barbequing, two bathrooms with showers and an outdoor shower to wash off beach sand. The house is convenient to Rt. 6 and Marconi Beach and it is a short drive to Provincetown on rainy days. We look forward every year to our return!
