About this house rental

Solitude and Fun at Great Pond: The exclusive property sits on a knoll above your own private beach on Great Pond-- pristine, freshwater, sandy bottomed, warm and swimmable in the Cape Cod National Seashore. You will be away from it all, surrounded by pine forest and sand roads. Walking distance to the ocean. Private raft.

Fall / Winter / Spring / Summer : Stay in the Big House, gaze at the water, walk the sand roads, and spy on our resident heron as you nestle by the fireplace. Enjoy the quiet of Wellfleet as it returns to its roots as a sleepy fishing village. The insulated/heated Big House is a 3 bedroom home.

- Our property is two houses joined together. We call one house the Big House and one house the Summer Side.
- Private beach on Great Pond
- Mid Sept - April : Big House rental. Rentals are for the this insulated house only, sleeps 6. (VRBO rates are for Big House rental only)
- May - mid Sept: Big House and Summer Side are rented together as one full property, sleeps 8-10. (VRBO rates are for Big House and Summer Side rental only)
- If you are interested in additional dates and rates for the full property rental please message the host
- While almost a single level dwelling, there are 2-6 stairs at entrances and between rooms

Big House: (fully insulated and heated for Fall/Winter/Spring/Summer rental)

- Bedroom 1: King w/semi-ensuite bathroom
- Bedroom 2: two twin beds and writing desk.
- Bedroom 3: two twin beds
- Multiple outdoor decks
- Full kitchen
- 1 full bathroom with tub/shower
- 1 full bathroom with shower
- Window A/C unit - window unit in King bedroom only
- Propane fireplace in spacious living room.

Details:
- WIFI - due to secluded National Sea Shore Location, high speed internet is sometimes variable. (Guests have been successful with using cellphones to create a hotspot)
- A table or desk with space for a laptop and a chair that’s comfortable to work in
- Washer and Dryer
- Private raft for swimming in Great Pond (from Memorial Day to Labor Day - may be longer but not guaranteed)
- 2 kayaks, 2 paddle boards, canoe (from Memorial Day to Labor Day - may be longer but not guaranteed). We provide an assortment of life-jackets.
- Gas Fireplace: for use in Fall / Winter

Great Pond Property - is two fully equipped houses joined as one, a blend of rustic and contemporary. The ‘Summer Side’ is the original cottage - full of Cape Cod charm and a huge screened-in porch. The ‘Big House’ was added in the 80’s. It is fully insulated / heated, has a window-lined living room and a gorgeous dining room that makes you feel you are eating outside. The 2 homes are connected by a hallway with a twin bedroom. Each home has private decks with views of the pond and a full kitchen. This lovely property is only one of three that are available to rent on Great Pond in the summer and the only one available to rent in the off season. Built by our family, this property has personal touches and a few Cape Cod quirks.

Summer (May - August): This wonderful “two vacation homes as one" is available to rent in its entirety for any week. It is a perfect vacation spot for a large family, two families or a multigenerational family gathering. For those who love to swim, this home is a paradise.

Summer rental include Big House AND Summer Side, sleeps a total of 8-10 people.

Summer Side House (May - mid Sept) :
- Sleeps 2-4 people
- Has a rustic cabin feeling, a cozy Cape Cod classic (exposed wood, open ceilings)
- Bedroom: Queen
- Double futon in Living Room
- Outside shower - to rinse off the sun and sand!
- Full kitchen
- 1 half bath (sink and toilet). The shower on the Summer Side is OUTSIDE.
- Window A/C unit - window unit in Queen bedroom only
- Huge screened porch
- Outdoor Deck

The houses were great , perfect for our families . The summer house reminded us of summer camp . The views of the pond are splendid . The screened - in Dining / Lounge Room was our favorite spot . The beach & cove were perfect for our 7 month old grandson . Great pond has always been the place we would spend whole days at previously , now we are so happy to have a home to stay in on the pond . Our family of (5) plus a couple friends stayed at this spacious house and it was perfect. When we were looking at the house, I told my Wife I bet the pictures don't do it justice, I was right. The "pond" has more of a small lake feel and was perfect for all the kids. The house comes with it's own small marina and a floating dock off shore to dive and fish from. Highly suggest fishing, some big bass in there. Essentially you have two homes bridged together creating a ton of space. The entire back of the house has seating areas that have great views of the pond, plus a large deck off the master and living room. All that and you're still only a 5 min. ride to the ocean. 25 min. or so to P-town. I could go on and on. Hope to stay there again sometime.

We love Wellfleet in the summer and this Great Pond house does not disappoint! This home is beautiful, spacious, and comfortable with a quick drive to quaint downtown Wellfleet and beaches. The pond is perfect for swimming. SUP, and canoeing. There is nothing like the peacefulness of having coffee on the porch in the morning looking out at the sparkling pond and the sound of the frogs at night under a sky full of stars.

We loved our stay at Tammy and Terry’s property. Exploring the lake by kayak, going to the nearby Atlantic beaches, and walking around Welfleet were some highlights. This property is a lovely home base for your outer cape vacation.

We had such a wonderful time at Great Pond. It was the perfect spot for us, with my husband and me in the main house, and my daughter and her partner in the attached cottage. They loved the privacy of their own space and couldn't rave enough about the outdoor shower! The main house was far more luxurious than we'd expected, and even in mid-September, the gas fireplace was much appreciated! But for as lovely as the house was, we spent most of our time there relaxing on the comfortably furnished decks over-looking the pond. The listing tells you exactly what to expect when you visit so the only surprises are the extras we found there. The provided amenities for outdoor activities (beach chairs, beach toys, kayaks, paddle board, outdoor shower, etc) as well as a fully stocked kitchen, complete with plenty of plates and glasses as well as every cooking utensil you could want. But the best part was starting and ending the day sitting outside and looking out over the pond. We definitely hope to visit again in the future!

The location can't be beat. The pond is amazing. The Big House is great, with everything you need. Summerside house needs some work. The bathroom is tiny. It would be nice to have an indoor shower. The oven needed to be cleaned and got very smoky when we first used it. I'm sure the owners are happy to take care of this as they seem very responsible. It would be better to have photos and more explanation of how small the bathroom is in Summerside. I still recommend staying here, especially in the Big House.

Three generations of our family spent an amazing week on Great Pond. We had perfect weather in June to swim, paddleboard and kayak. Special times were breakfast and dinner on the screened porch, enjoying the pond from early morning through the evening. My 85 year old mother-in-law could enjoy the pond from an easy chair on the the porch and patio, while the water was just down the steps for the rest of the family. The well-equipped kitchen had everything we needed for cooking,from basic baking supplies/spices to a blender, lots of pot/pans, etc. We enjoy the ocean beaches (just a mile walk), but the beauty, privacy and solitude 24/7 of the pond can't be beat! The house is very spacious, with lots of room for our group to relax and hang out. . It's a home we felt fortunate to share for a week. Welflleet is a short drive for groceries and other shopping including the General Store and Hatch's fish market, yummy seafood restaurants and great biking.We've enjoyed other rentals near Wellfleet over the years, but Tammy's house on Great Pond is our favorite. We can't wait to return in 2019. She's is a an accommodating host, quickly responding to all our inquiries.

We had a wonderful time at Tammy and Terry's house. The house is in a beautiful location and is nicely furnished, very well equipped kitchen, and clean. When I had a problem, Tammy came over right away and called the plumbers, who came the next morning to fix the problem. We loved waking up the beautiful views of the pond, and the canoes were a plus.
