About this house rental
The still shots just don't do the place the justice it deserves! Sugar Tree Lodge is the perfect spot for your upcoming family reunion, friendly get together, family retreat, or even wedding!
Located in the resort mountains of western Pennsylvania, only 54 miles east of downtown Pittsburgh, Sugar Tree Lodge is the perfect place to be whenever you want to enter the natural world of forest and stream, but at the same time want to reside in a beautiful and comfortable home close to resort attractions such as Seven Springs, Hidden Valley, Laurel Mountain Ski Resort, and Idlewild Park.
Surrounding Sugar Tree Lodge's property, the Randall Reserve is dedicated to the preservation of woodlands and wildlife in the valley between Ligonier and Donegal, to the end that current and future generations may continue to experience the natural legacy of this lovely part of the Laurel Highlands. Any wildlife that can survive in this part of the country appears from time to time, leaving tracks and signs of their presence. Many varieties of wildflowers, shrubs and trees are to be found here. A network of trails on the Randall Reserve surrounding the property connects all of this together, taking you back to Sugar Tree Lodge where you can relax in comfort.
On site there is a pond to enjoy fishing and small boating, more than a mile of Four Mile Run (the major creek and trout stream in this area) to explore and enjoy, and miles of trails for hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing, a game court for family enjoyment, volleyball and badminton, picnics and bonfires. Just around the corner is beautiful Donegal Lake, a Pennsylvania public area which offers fishing, kayaking, canoeing and small boating (on a bring-your-own basis).
You may want to visit some of the famous places in the Laurel Highlands around us:
Idlewilde Park (voted the #1 amusement park for children in the United States) which has Soak Zone and Story Book Forest and many other rides and amusements.
We are less than a 30-minute drive to all three of the local ski resorts. Laurel Mountain, Hidden Valley, and Seven Springs each offer their own challenges on the slopes and other amenities like golf, snow tubing, sporting clay shooting, and much more.
Nearby Ohiopyle State Park has miles of trails and whitewater rafting opportunities. Let us not forget the amazing fishing and fly fishing in the area creeks and streams.
Frank Lloyd Wright's 'Fallingwater' and 'Kentuck Knob' are world renowned for their architectural accomplishments. Both sites have daily tours available.
If you are a history buff, Flight 93 Memorial will touch your heart and the town of Ligonier has Fort Ligonier with its amazing historical reproductions of life in Revolutionary War times.
A short drive will take you to the Laurel Caverns where you can tour the beautiful subterranean caves and streams.
The list goes on seemingly forever...
If all the action isn't your speed bring along a book or two and your favorite drink and just enjoy the peace and comfort of the lodge itself. It is hard to imagine a more restful and satisfying vacation.
THE HOUSE:
Sugar Tree's first floor features an open floor plan that includes the living room, dining room and kitchen. There's a wood-burning fireplace as well as floor-to-ceiling glass doors that open onto a large deck overlooking the pond, allowing you to combine indoor and outdoor living and dining at the same time. (Great for get-togethers!). In addition, our back entrance room contains washer and dryer for your use and a half-bath.
The master bedroom suite has its own wing, a king bed, 1 and 1/2 baths, a private tea-for-two deck, and an adjacent smaller room with a single bed.
The 2nd floor has a den with TV and a sofa that turns into a king bed, a bunk room with 6 beds, and two additional rooms each with queen beds, a card table nook, and two full bathrooms.
The attached annex over the garage is a multi-purpose room with a queen bed and a single bed, a full bath and a narrow deck that overlooks the pond. This annex will be available for use during all times of year and includes its own heating and air conditioning.
Our yard has a large and a small bonfire pit, a picnic area, a set-up for soccer and badminton, a games court containing shuffleboard, horseshoes, and basketball hoops. There's a dock and rowboat for the pond.
The Four Mile Run (a creek), the preeminent trout fishing stream in southern Ligonier Valley, delineates the lower yard and supplies shallow water fun for small children plus exploration and fishing for older children and adults.

Guests loved the property for its amazing views, spacious rooms, well-equipped kitchens, outdoor activities like fishing and hiking, and attentive hosts who promptly addressed any issues. Highly recommended for a relaxing retreat!

We had a very enjoyable family vacation at the house. The house sits beautifully surrounded by nature with a view of the pond. The kitchen’s huge island was perfect for preparing meals for 14 adults. No problem having more than one chef in the kitchen. I would recommend bringing any specialty kitchen items you may need. There is an extra refrigerator/freezer in the garage. The house itself is comfortable and the mattresses were very good. There are some minor repairs that would be helpful but did not affect our stay. We enjoyed cooling off in the pond. We spent a lot of time on our inflatable floats that we brought with us. Corinne was quick to respond back with questions we had prior to our stay. Thanks for sharing your property with us.

This was our family's second time staying at this wonderful property and it was just as amazing as the first time. The house is large, open, and inviting, with the kitchen especially nice and the surrounding grounds, pond, and woods beautiful. It was simply an ideal place to relax and unwind. The perfect family vacation. So perfect that we've already booked the house for next year!

This was our 3rd stay at the Randall Reserve and we already booked next year. The house is private, very clean, spacious, comfortable, and a lovely scenic place to relax.
Every year on the last day of our stay, we discuss, as a family, the pros and cons and consider if we want to stay here the following year and my family had all "pros" and definitely want to return next summer. We love the kayaks and fishing on the pond and this year, we took advantage of some of the local places for miniature golf, bowling and more.

Our family of 12, that includes two small children, had another lovely stay at Sugartree lodge. Corinne and Darren are both so kind a take great care of the property. There always seems to be an improvement each year that we return. Newest additions include a large blackstone grill and loads of new toys that our two children thoroughly enjoyed! The property is extremely kid friendly and they have cribs, pack and plays and loads of indoor and outdoor toys. We have lots of coffee drinkers in our group who appreciate having both the ninja coffee maker and a keurig. The pantry is stocked with tons of serving dishes and several crock pots which we love since we typically cook all our meals at the house! Thanks for another memorable trip!

This house is amazing and a nice break from life. It has everything to offer on the property itself, the owner really puts a lot of effort into anticipating what guests would need. Any issue we had was promptly taken care of by the owner with great communication and understanding. 10/10 for the experience and would highly recommend!!!!

My family had the pleasure of staying in this gorgeous home overlooking a beautiful lake and surrounding nature. Just what we needed to spend the Easter break together. We relaxed, played games, explored, and made the most amazing Easter brunch in a dream kitchen, that was equipped with everything you could possibly need and more. Everyone had their own space and we loved gathering in the comfortable living room. We loved hanging out on the deck watching the geese and ducks on the lake and admiring the natural beauty of the area. The hosts were extremely responsive and quick to answer any questions we had. I highly recommend renting this home as it's one of the best I've been in. We hope to return next year!

Fun place for family winter get away.
Close enough to Hidden Valley and Seven Springs . Family went tubing at Seven Springs snd skiing at Hidden valley. Large kitchen area with everything you need separate freezer. Pantry with extra space for food and dishes to meet all your needs. They have tried to think of everything. Small hill on the property with sleds available for the little ones to safely sled. Large windows to watch the little ones in the yard. Very private with lots of outdoor space. Nook upstairs was changed to table space, no pullout sofa in that space. Annex has fooseball game enjoyed by teens!
With private sleeping space.
Thank you for sharing your home!

We have stayed here several times before and always enjoy the beautiful house and surrounding property. Thank you for providing the new bed in the one upstairs bedroom. We will plan to come back in 2024.

A Breathtaking view of the lake greets you as you walk thru the front door. The house is immaculate. It is very spacious and had plenty of room for our group of 15. The older kids fished and caught Bass and Blue Gills. The Tee Pee is really cool. Great hiking trails. Very nice kitchen and plenty of seating for meals. We loved our stay and can’t wait to stay again.

We have stayed at the Harris house 3 times and love it every time. If you like the outdoors you'll love this place.

We very much enjoyed the Lodge, the relaxing view and it’s amenities. Rooms are spacious and updated kitchen is beautiful. Walking the grounds was quite a pleasure. The fire-pit was used EVERY EVENING — perfect end to the day(s). We didn’t take the boat out since we felt it wasn’t easily accessible getting in and out of it. Other than that, we felt the premises was a place of rest and relaxation. Definitely would recommend.

We have a group of close knit families (15 people) and we go on a yearly vacation together. It’s always a challenge to find a place that has what we’re looking for- a comfortable place with plenty of room where we can both enjoy each others’ company and the outdoors. Where we can cook for our large group, where the kiddos can do their thing while the adults hang out. And one that also offers some unique elements to enjoy. Sugar Tree Lodge was all that and more. It made jour vacation both uncomplicated and special. We can’t wait to come back next year!

You just can’t beat that view. Cooks kitchen, plenty of space and we didn’t even have to share a bathroom. Would stay again. Thanks!

We had our wedding here in 2021 and have been back every year since. It’s kind of like a mini family reunion to kick off the summer for us! Everyone loves it here. There is so much to do you can’t pack it in to the four days we usually have here. They provide everything you could possibly need.

This is our fifth year returning to sugar tree lodge. Corinne was great to work with as usual. She promptly replies to any questions and kindly helped us out late one night. The owners take great care of the property and something new seems to be updated each year. Our children loved the new Teepee, which was the perfect spot to roast marshmallows on a rainy day. We hope to come back again next year! Thanks again!

Our long weekend coincided with a bit of a wind storm that hit the area pretty hard. We lost power for 4 or 5 hours. The property owner was great throughout the whole process with very prompt replies and genuine concern for our comfort.
The lake views are beautiful. Waterfowl and frogs created an enjoyable ambiance. The property does show its age a little but is very clean and comfortable.

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Great kitchen, living and outdoor space.

We had a wonderful time at Sugar Creek Lodge. 12 of my friends and family and I stayed here for the weekend to celebrate my bachelor party. The house and property are gorgeous. The teepee was a stand-out, as we had a fire going nearly all weekend.
Corrine was so responsive and helpful too. We lost power on our first night due to a storm and she updated us regularly and made sure we had everything we might need.
Highly recommend!

My family and friends spent a long weekend at this beautiful home on a private lake for my brother's 40th birthday. Every single person was impressed with the house and the grounds (lake, teepee, privacy, amenities, etc.). The kitchen was especially well-equipped with two ovens, a refrigerator, huge pantry with a standup freezer, and a second refrigerator in the garage.
The host was very responsive and everything was easy. I would love to stay here again with a large party - and I would highly recommend.

My friends and I stayed here while attending a local dog competition at Latrobe. We had an amazing time!! The house is so spacious and the views are stunning!! The house is literally on a beautiful lake. There is a ton of space to walk outside including hiking trails. Ample activities to do outside. Bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious and very clean. And every commented how comfortable their mattresses & pillows were. The Kitchen is stunning. The owner is so kind, accommodating, and responsive! I hope to have a chance to stay there again. Highly recommend!

Upstairs bedroom has a pullout couch. Absolutely horrible sleeping arrangement. Couch is not adequate for any human being to sleep on. Floor is more comfortable than the pull out couch. Would not rent again unless this bedroom provided a proper sleeping accommodation. Strongly advise to remove the couch and replace with a new bed with a new mattress at least in queen size if not king size.

Perfect place to celebrate our 50th Anniversary with our three sons and their families. House is spacious & spotless. The large kitchen is wonderfully stocked. The pond was great for our g-kids, lots of fishing & kayaking. The AC worked great during a hot & muggy week. Earned an 11 on a 1-10 scale.

A world away and only an hour and a half from Pittsburgh! The house is beautiful, spacious and well-equipped. Highly recommended. This is our 4th stay, and we will be back!

This was a perfect family get away home!
Loved the location. It was close to many activities yet when we were back to the house we felt like we were all alone and it was peaceful. The pond provided hours of fishing and we enjoyed the campfire and surrounding area. The house was very clean and and the kitchen was perfect. Thanks for giving my family lots of memories!!

The best place
We got married here in May 2021 and instantly rebooked for this year. Everyone loves this place. It’s very reasonably priced for as many people that can stay. They have everything you can possibly imagine there on property from wood for the fire to any kind of games you want to play, books and toys for the little kids, to dog dishes for your pets. It’s a beautiful and quiet secluded area with lots of beautiful places to walk. There is a pond and kayaks everyone enjoyed fishing even the little kids caught some sunfish and that’s always exciting! We love this place!

Great Family Gathering
This is a serene, beautiful setting. The large house accommodated our 12 family members. The large kitchen is perfect if you love to cook as we do. The house is spotless. Our white socks showed no dirt whatsoever. The beautiful outdoors and things to do keep us busy and active. We already booked next year. Communication with owner is very efficient.

Amazing Time at Sugar Tree Lodge
We rented this home for extended family to stay together who were in town for our wedding over Memorial Day Weekend. We also hosted a welcome event at the property the Friday evening before our wedding to welcome all of our guests that were in town for the weekend.
My family who stayed onsite absolutely loved the lodge and those that attended the welcome event were amazed by the stunning property surrounding it.
Corinne was wonderful to communicate with via questions about the house itself as well as coordinating details for the event.
I would highly recommend Sugar Tree Lodge to any group looking for a place to stay for a weekend or longer as well as to anyone interested in hosting an event on a beautiful woodland property in the Laurel Highlands.
Thank you so much for helping make our wedding weekend so perfect!

Tranquil Beauty
We reserved this home for my sons graduation from Seton Hill Univ. It was an absolutely beautiful property and perfect to sleep the 12 guests we had visit. The pond is lovely and we had morning guests - Canadian Geese. Coincidentally, it was Mother’s Day weekend and that same day the mama Goose had her chicks! Although it did rain there was plenty of room for us to visit, play cards, and explore the 9/11 Memorial. The grill was available too and the boys played basketball. The extra fishing poles are a nice touch too. The owner is very responsive and I highly recommend this property for large groups as the bedroom set up was excellent

Another lovely stay!
This was our fourth year returning to Sugar Tree Lodge and it was as good as ever! Something is always new and improved when we arrive. The house is great for small children and has 2 full size roll away cribs, a high chair, and many toys and games. The Ross family assists with cleaning and the house is always spotless upon arrival. Corrine is easy to get in contact with and addresses any questions promptly. Tom lives across the pond and upkeeps the property. It’s a treat to see him year after year and he has a wealth of information about the house and surrounding area! We are returning for a trip with friends in August and can’t wait!
