Overall a great experience. My family enjoyed the ability to walk to La Jolla and enjoy the San Diego weather.

Convenient location. Walk to ocean and stores. 4 bedrooms 2 bathrooms at a great price. Excellent outdoor dining space. A bit of road noise. Could upgrade grill, oven and outdoor seat cushions.

I booked this house for my daughter’s UCSD graduation. It is perfect if you have older family members as it is single story with just a few steps to the front door. Easy walk to restaurants and seeing the ocean/sea lions, also there’s a full service grocery store close by. Loved the decor and the beds were comfortable. I really appreciated the simple instructions for leaving with no over the top chores expected. The only downside is that it’s just off a very busy road and the traffic in the area is pretty crazy but that’s pretty much all of San Diego since it is such a popular destination. I was very happy with this house for our family event

Just blocks from downtown LaJolla, this home had everything our group of 8 needed. Outdoor grill and 2 patios, comfy seating, large dining room table. Kitchen could use a few replacements on utensils etc but not anything major.
This was a central spot for us to sight-see,dine and walk downtown every day to see the seals, sea lions and other native animals.Lots of dining walkable to downtown for fit adults( inclines on walk back) Owners extremely easy to communicate with. Enjoyed our stay very much.

Exceptional location - only blocks from town and the beach. Walked to beach to watch the sea lions play in the a.m. then again in evening to see the sunset. Restaurants all within walking distance.
Host was fast to answer questions and very accommodating.
Husband and I stayed along with our two adult children. Enough space for all and very comfortable.
Would have given 5 stores if not for kitchen needing some work - old and tired pots, tea kettle, etc. Bring your own coffee. Two outside areas nice - one needs to be cleaned up and more welcoming.
Bring earplugs if you are sound sensitive- road traffic can be heard in bedrooms but did not bother us.
Overall a great and comfortable stay. Thank you to the hosts.

This is a lovely 1920s home within walking distance to loads of shops and restaurants. The layout was perfect for our family. The furniture and beds were comfortable. I would definitely rent again

3 of us adults had horrible back and neck pain from sleeping on the mattresses and crappy pillows. There were 4 of us adults and 1 toddler. After a night of tossing and turning because the mattress was so uncomfortable and it creaked every time we moved, we tried the other bedroom and it wasn’t much better. The bedroom in the front of the house (with the wooden bed frame) was the worst and you can hear the traffic at all hours of the night. My neck was so strained I had to go to the knot shop (massage clinic in Hillcrest).
There were stains on the lower parts of the bedsheets and the kitchen’s pans were old and grimey. The buildup in the dishwasher was really gross. We had to wash everything before we used it. And you pretty much have to buy all seasoning if you need to cook — they don’t even supply cling film (Saran wrap).
I think this house is run by someone who has never stayed there before. It’s a moneymaker (based on reviews) and they don’t really care to put any extra oomph into making the place a good stay. The layout of the house was nice and having the living room open into the dining room and the location to everything in la jolla. But I can’t recommend this place — 3/4 adults had awful sleep and if you can’t sleep on vacation … what’s the point? Take my review with a grain of salt. But I didn’t enjoy this place.

This house is lovely and a fantastic location for walking to restaurants and the beaches. Very comfortable furnishings and a well-stocked kitchen. We appreciated being able to sit outside to dine as well. The only caveat is that the house is right off of Torrey Pines so be aware of street noise at all hours. Earplugs are a great fix and this was not a deal killer for our group.

Short walk to downtown and La Jolla Shores. Go to the Cheese Shop for lunch!

Stayed three nights with our adult children. Enjoyed the coastal walk and restaurants. The room fans came in handy since it was unusually humid for this area! Cottage is charming and spacious.

We visited Lajolla for the weekend with our kids. This home is absolutely spectacular. Fantastic backyard patio for grilling . Kitchen and rooms are beautifully decorated. Beds are super comfortable sheets were amazing. Very clean, walking distance to shops, breakfast and all different types of restaurants. It wasn’t a beach day so we didn’t go down to the beach . Remind me of a seizure theme.

We absolutely loved staying at this property and would highly recommend it to anyone considering a stay in La Jolla. It is exceptionally clean and a great location. There is some traffic noise, but it was not enough to make us not want to come back. LOVED IT!!!

This was one of my best VRBO experiences ever! The house was clean and accommodating, it was in an amazing location, and the host was super nice and responsive. We will definitely stay here again with our next visit to La Jolla!

Perfect house for our family birthday getaway with our adult children and 2 small grandchildren. Plenty of room for all with a large Livingroom and nice large dinning room table. We especially enjoyed the large outdoor BBQ area. We did walk to La Jolla beach to see the seals and have lunch. There was a lot of traffic, but doable. Great time was had by all.

Beautiful Home and Location
My family and I enjoyed our stay at the Blue Door Cottage! The property is very charming and welcoming and the location is excellent-walking distance to everything. The owners were easy to communicate with, and they even left us a welcome bottle of wine! We had a wonderful time!

The property was great! Just what we needed. Everyone enjoyed their stay. No complaints from us.

Great, private & well outfitted house
Lovely location, nice private patio, well arranged kitchen & living spaces. Only quibble is that in 2 bedrooms the beds are too wide, with one side against the wall, hard to use.

We came here for a weekend with 7 friends and it was perfect for us! Super walkable to La Jolla and an adorable, well-stocked house. Would definitely stay here again!

Great family getaway in La Jolla.
Really enjoyed our stay. Loved walkable proximity to the restaurants and shops of La Jolla. Enough room for our family of 6 to stretch out. Clean and well maintained. Location is one house removed from a very busy street, so can be a bit noisy.

Great weekend
Property was as advertised. It is a few doors from Torrey Pine road so traffic during the day is heavy but late evening to morning is not bad. Great location for walking to town

Christmas getaway with family in a fantastic location!
This is a great location and the property was really nice. Large dining room table for meals and games, family room and kitchen. Bedrooms could use dressers (only one had a dresser). Location was amazing! The check-in instructions mentioned firewood in the garage, and a Keurig coffee maker, but neither one was there. Francesca may need to edit the check in instruction email. But when we told her that there was no cookie sheets (we made my mom's homemade recipe) and her husband discovered there wasn't a hair dryer, both of them were delivered early in our stay. It was great of them to do that and I got a Merry Christmas message too. Great host! Great place and the location can't be beat. The traffic was a little noisy but not too bad, maybe it was the holiday. We easily walked to the north end of the coastal walk and then made our way down the coast to see the seals, cormorants, pelicans. Fantastic location!

This was a perfect place for my friends to stay while we visiting San Diego for the Breeder’s Cup.
Charming cottage with spacious and comfortable bedrooms, a wonderful outdoor space, and an easy walk to the La Jolla shops and shore.

Clean, Cute, and Close to La Jolla Cove
The house was clean, cute, and suited our party of six well. We stayed here for our daughters wedding with our family. It had ample closet space to hang our suits and dresses. The kitchen was well equipped and we loved spending time on the patio relaxing. The location is good and very walkable to La Jolla cove and restaurants in the area (all less than a mile). The hosts were quick to respond to my messages as well. We would definitely stay here again. -The Mercer Family

Great house & location!
Great house, and a perfect location!, I highly recommend it! Walking distance to “downtown” locations on Prospect. We left the car at the house at night and walked to dinner and entertainment spots. Loved Jose’s and The Spot!

Perfect Location, beautiful house
The house is in a perfect location, so close to the village. The house itself is wonderful, lots of space. We could not have had a better stay in La Jolla. We will definitely stay again if we come back to La Jolla with our family. As for the noise issue from Torry Pines road. Here is the deal, if you are sensitive to noise do not sleep in front bedroom, or if you do and think it will be an issue wear earplugs. As for the noise in general, one of our family members lives in the country where it is very quiet and she did not have any issues with the road noise.

Overall review
Wonderful beach cottage. A little close to traffic but we loved everything else about it. Spacious living area, bedrooms and backyard. Oh, forgot the shower, did not like. Too difficult to adjust the water temperature.

Located too close to busy streets. Very noisy during nightime.
The property is clean and the owners are friendly. The house is old and requires a major update. It is located too close to a very busy Torry Pine blvd. The car traffic is constant and very noisy during the nighttime.

Beautiful beach house!
My family and I stay here for one night and didn’t want to leave. I love how the house has been preserved and had everything we needed. The outdoor area was perfect for our party of 7 to sit outside for meals. The location is perfect, just mins from the cove, the kids love seeing the seals. Francesca was a wonderful host and the house was spotless when we arrived. We will definitely be staying here again!

Clean and Close!
I will admit that the most important aspect to me when I am reserving is cleanliness, and this property is very clean and comfortable. We loved the outdoor areas and we were able to walk to the beach and to restaurants (for pick up, as we were there during COVID-19 shutdowns).

Cute and Quaint
This house was adorable and exactly what was needed for this long President's Day weekend. While very small it used the space well by fitting in 4 bedrooms. It was clean and well appointed although the kitchen could probably use a little updating. Also, additional kitchen utensils and cleaning supplies would have been nice. The property manager, Francesca, was very much on top of everything and communicated extremely well prior to, during and after our stay. If there was any complaint it was the location right off Torrey Pines Road which has significant traffic 24/7 that is relatively noisy. But, all in all, we thought this property was well worth the money.
