About this house rental
We have made some recent updates to the house. The pictures have all be updated to show the recent changes we have made. We have new carpet throughout the house and new paint in the bedrooms. We hope you enjoy these updates as much as we do.
The house is designed to be family friendly. We have a well stocked kitchen with everything you will need to have meals at home. Newport also has some great restaurants if you want to take a break from cooking on your vacation. There are 2 bedrooms one each floor and two shared bathrooms, one on each floor. The downstairs sitting area has a tv and is a great place to relax and have conversations. The upstairs great room has views of the ocean, a sectional that you will sink in to while you enjoy the big tv. The game table and open space make it a nice place to gather, play games and watch movies.
From June 15 - Labor Day there is a 5 night minimum stay.
This is the last house on a gravel road with a small creek on one side down to the beach. The beach has a small creek pool with a sandy beach bottom - safe for little kids and away from waves. Additionally, there is a fully gated deck with latched gate, which is safe for the young ones.
Enjoy breakfast on the deck while overlooking the endless ocean. Wake to waves, gaze on the deep blue, and if you're lucky, watch a whale or two. Only steps away from surf and fun. Play on Agate Beach in the sand or in its tide pools or head to the Oregon Coast Aquarium or Nye Beach close by. Just what you wanted from a beachfront house for the family!
With two large living rooms there is room for multiple inside activities on a storm watching day. Of course, when the sun is out, just walk down the trail and get your toes sandy! There are 3 bedrooms with queen sized beds and one room with two twin beds. The kitchen is well equipped for entertaining. Please note that the private trail to the beach has a few built-in steps along the dirt path with a rope rail. This trail is not for anyone unstable on their feet or with any physical limitations.
Sorry, no pets allowed.

It was a wonderful stay and we enjoyed the home which was so cozy with amazing views. Most definitely will return.

Gorgeous home, spectacular views and beach access. Close to everything we wanted to do and still quiet and serene.

Let me start by saying the host was amazing. We had an issue prior to the trip. The host MaryJo went above and beyond to save our trip. You are booking from someone that takes care of people.
As for the VRBO, the beach cottage exceeded our expectations. The set up allowed for 2 families to comfortably stay. The property has a clear path down to the ocean with lots of opportunity to explore and relax right on the ocean without having to jump in the car and drive. Be aware that the path is very clean and has rope hand rails but is a little steep. This seems to be the norm for the Oregon coast. We ended up hiking it multiple times a day.
Amenities near by ranged from visiting the Newport aquarium, Oregon state science center, walking the piers to view the sea lions, and visit some restaurants and the rouge brewery. However, we spent most of the time at the beach.

House was perfect for our weekend escape! We enjoyed the super big couch & spacious room upstairs for playing cards & Mario Kart. Loved the double sliding glass doors, we could hear the ocean & provided a nice breeze. Thank you for keeping the kitchen stocked & providing above what I expected.

This property was lovely. It was very well equipped and extremely comfortable and just felt like being "at home". We liked the open plan space downstairs, and found the upstairs seating area very comfy for watching TV in the evenings. The deck was a great space for relaxing outside. While we appreciated the existence of the path down to the beach, we did find it a bit rough and likely not very accessible for anyone with balance or mobility challenges. Having said that, we did make it up and down without incident! Overall, the property was lovely and we would recommend it to anyone looking for a peaceful get away.

We had an awesome stay. The house setup has one Queen and a twin bedroom with walk in shower. Beautiful views and the grandchildren loved the path to the beach.

This was a great place to stay. We would stay here again in the future. The beach access was easy as well. Clean and well stocked. The view was great.

This was as advertised and a great location. The floor plan is ideal for a family with a large family area both upstairs and down. The location is just the best with the beach down a short (but somewhat significant) incline. The path itself could use some improvement. Well equipped and according to two teen kids… nothing to improve.

We’ve come to Newport for the last 7 years during spring break. Of all the places we’ve stayed over the years, this was absolutely our favorite. The spaces we had to play games together, watch movies together, and the path down to the beach made this property absolutely perfect for our family. Can’t wait to come back again.

This house has pretty much everything you’d need to cook, be comfortable, and tables to play games, all with amazing views of the ocean through the trees. Private access to the beach a plus! Bring your rubber boots to cross the wide creek or simply wade across in bare feet to get to the ocean. Cliffs and rocks to explore on the right, sand dunes to the left, and surfers to watch out front.

From our first contact with Mary Jo to the last wave goodbye to our special home away from home this was an amazing experience. The house and property are beautiful. Best provisioned rental we've ever seen. Two levels made it great for both adults and the kids.
We'll be back!

We’ve stayed in quite a few Oregon Coast vacation rentals over the years from Astoria to Waldport and this is our absolute favorite place. The house is lovely. It’s roomy, clean, stocked with everything you might need and close to the beach.

Fantastic Vacation
My family and I traveled from Wisconsin to see the coast. Once we got to the house we didn't want to leave! It felt like we had the beach all to ourselves. My children loved the cozy family room upstairs. The views were amazing. Mary Jo was great to work with. We will all treasure the time we had at this house.

Excellent cozy view home
The home was excellent. We loved the cozy feeling and the spectacular views. Great kitchen and dining area, big enough for our group of 6 adults and a child. The upstairs den was great for our 4 yr old to play while we watched tv/movies, plus a great view out of the large windows. Walk down the beach trail was a little difficult for our little, and while carrying beach items, but just a short drive to a nice beach. Would stay here again.

Comfortable and relaxing
We had a super enjoyable stay (a post-OSU commencement celebration for our family) at this fabulous home along the coast! The views are amazing... a perfect place to relax and play cards with family and friends, watch a movie, take a hike along the beach, or cook up a great dinner! The kitchen was well-equipped with every gadget you could possibly need, and it was sooooo relaxing listening to the waves as you drift off to sleep.

Great Communication
What a wonderful getaway for our family! It was in a quiet location with a great view and wonderful location! Our electricity went out (the whole town's electricity went out) and communication with our hosts were clear and easy to reach! Thank you for a wonderful time!

Excellent Location, Roomy and well-stocked!
The house was so close to convince stores, shopping, and dining. Centrally located so we were able to take day trips along the Oregon Coast; both north and south of Newport easily and without too much extra travel. The house has a spacious loft where we did a lot of hanging out and it came well stocked. So close to the beach and the views are breathtaking. My only concern was it wasn’t very clean when we got there and the master does not have an en-suite bathroom. Otherwise, perfection!

Great house and location
The house was as expected with nice areas for the whole family. The path to the beach was a little steep but convenient. We brought our own games which was good since the games at the house were all missing parts. We had a great time.

80th birthday
The property was almost perfect for our group. Because I walk with a cane, the steep path to the beach was not possible for me, but everyone else had no trouble. I found another path a little to the north that worked.

Much needed holiday!
Nice location for our family gathering. There were a few issues that we encountered but we just rolled with them as I didn’t want to bug the host if not a huge deal. The drive way, that is shared with others, could definitely use a grading, the extra paper towels were wet and had mold, our bed had leaf debris in the sheets, BUT was very comfortable. The west upstairs bed, not so much. And I knew the path to the beach would be steep, I just felt there could be some type of upkeep to make it a little safer. Otherwise, the house was nicely stocked with items we didn’t expect, the location is nice, and the host was very pleasant to deal with!

Beautiful house, picturesque location.
My family and I spent 8 nights in May and had a wonderful time. The house was clean, had plenty of everything a family could need (8 of us traveled from Michigan so we couldn’t bring much from home supply wise) and had more than enough room for all of us to sleep, eat, shower and lounge comfortably. The house was very close to town but yet private and the views and beach access were amazing. I would definitely rent this home again when we visit Oregon next time. Thank you Mary Jo for letting us enjoy your beautiful beach house:)

Great house and beach access
The house was very clean and tidy. With great spaces for hanging out inside. We loved the easy, private access to the beach. The trail might be a little challenging for less sure footed people, but there are rope railings to hang onto.
We also loved the view. It’s through the trees, but still pretty spectacular. The photos in the listing don’t do it justice.

Our Favorite Place to Stay
We had a fantastic vacation! MaryJo’s house is very clean and comfortable. The beach was sunny and warm for 8 of the 10 days we spent there. I wouldn’t hesitate to to rent this beautiful home from MaryJo, it’s our favorite.

Beautiful beach
A very comfortable house with a great private path to the deepest sand beach I’ve ever seen.

Great house. Awesome location!
This property was well suited to accommodate our family. It was clean, kid friendly, and had all the amenities (and sea anemones) to call this place home during our stay. The location to the beach was ideal. The owner herself even came out before we had arrived to deal with a wasp nest that prevented occupants from accessing the beach. That was huge! We will definitely be back.

Booking was a nice and easy process. The owner communicated well and answered any questions we had immediatley.

Great time
We had a fun 4 nights at your house. The best part was the path to the beach. Our grandkids loved playing in the water that you had to wade through to get to the sand. It was such a quick walk to get there.

Great location, great space for families with kids
We had a wonderful stay. The house has convenient beach access (it’s a little steep for small children, but they shouldn’t be at the beach without adults anyway!). The house was pretty clean and had great space for the kids to play and for adults to hang out. We would certainly stay here again on future trips.

Comfortable, homey beach house with truly amazing views of Agate Beach.
The beach house was comfortable and had everything we needed already in place. There are two living areas which worked out great for us. We appreciated that the beds were so comfy. The only downside for me was the trail down to the beach. It wasn’t a problem for anyone else in our group though. As it says in the info about the house, it’s not meant for someone who is unsteady on their feet. I have bad knees and one trip down and back convinced me that everyone would be relieved if I didn’t attempt it again. Other beach access is very close by. Thank you a wonderful stay!

Well maintained home that fit our group just perfectly. So nice to have two separate living rooms. Kids can watch a movie upstairs while adults can visit down stairs. Location was excellent!
