Come & enjoy our private retreat! Everyone who visits agrees that this spot is idyllic & incredibly unique. Right at the water's edge at the big bend in Cayuga Lake just north of Ithaca, The Point is located on 1.5 level acres & features no cliffs/hillsides, & an incredibly rare 650 feet of Cayuga lake frontage. The 3 BR/1.5 Bath, 1700 sq ft fully-insulated 4-season cottage faces 270-degree lake views, plus a private cove at the back of the house that adds to the feeling of being on an island, right in the center of Cayuga Lake! The house is itself is an older (1970's) build, but has been furnished for comfort, and what makes this property really special is the unparalleled location, spacious grounds, shoreline, and views! The east shore location means fantastic sunset views, while the location of the south facing point with the lake angle means you also get sunrises! The best of both worlds!

This dock is near end of life/due for replacement but provides views & a place to fish (replacement is planned but wait lists in our area for this work are several years long; because of unpredictable storm damage potential, front dock availability is *not guaranteed* but there is plenty of other lake access from our shoreline). The BACK dock provides access to the calm cove behind the house that connects to Cayuga Lake via the next-door marina & receives almost no wave action. Jet skis & small boats with shallow drafts may be moored here, but navigation from the marina through a narrow & shallow opening under a short bridge is required, which limits the freeboard height of boats that may pass through - as a result, *not all boats can access the cove and back dock*. Please message us for more information. Alternatively, the next-door marina (Lansing Harbor) is a very short walk and often has available temporary slip rental (also a gas dock), which offers a very convenient storage alternative if renting or bringing a boat; they are not affiliated with our property, so inquire directly with them for costs. Alternatively, trailered boats may be launched & re-trailered & parked in the Point gravel parking area when not in use.
Additional property description: To arrive at the Point, pass through the neighboring marina to reach our private oasis. The marina is close enough to be convenient but doesn't intrude on the property privacy. A flat gravel drive leads the parking area & house right at lake level. The open floor plan kitchen/dining area provides panoramic views. The living room area includes a comfortable leather sectional & TV.
There are 3 bedrooms (BR1=1 king , BR2=1 queen+1 twin, BR3=1 queen) & 2 bathrooms (1 full bath w/ shower+tub combo & & 1 half-bath). As an older home, the bathrooms are small & modest, consistent with its era, but are clean & functional. All three BRs overlook the private cove to the north of the house, great for wildlife viewing throughout the year. During the summer months, window A/C units are provided in each bedroom, & fans are provided throughout the rest of the house to move cool lake breezes through the many windows. Please do note that while the house is well-maintained & well-appointed to make your stay fun & comfortable, this is an older home, in a more rural location.
The perfect mix of nature & convenience, the Point is the perfect spot - far enough from everything to be relaxing, but an easy 10-15 minute drive to Ithaca, & close to a wide range of area attractions. You really won’t find anyplace else like it. Rise early & take in the stillness at sunrise. Enjoy the lake breezes & the sound of the waves against the rocky lakeshore. Hunt for fossils & lucky stones in the lakeshore shale. Spot the enormous carp swimming lazily amongst the water lilies in the cove behind the house. Explore the area parks, waterfalls, & wineries. Laugh with loved ones & unwind around a bonfire. Let the sound of the water against the rocks & the conversations of the frogs in the back cove lull you to sleep at night. Quietly observe a stealthy great blue heron stalking along the water's edge, & marvel at a passing bald eagle or an osprey abruptly plunging out of the sky. Originally purchased by the family in the 1930s as a waterfowl-hunting property, this property attracts local wildlife. We see a huge variety of waterfowl, as well as kingfishers, flickers, orioles, woodpeckers, various songbirds, osprey, bald eagles, hawks, owls, turkeys, blue & green herons, turtles, squirrels, chipmunks, rabbits, voles, beavers, muskrats, a fisher, minks, raccoons, opossums, woodchucks, foxes, & deer who visit at various times.
Come and make some incomparable memories at this one-of-a-kind spot! We hope that you enjoy The Point!

We went with family and enjoyed our stay. The lakeside was beautiful and we loved having the kayaks and stand up paddle board. Very well appointed with everything you need. We were lucky to have a beautiful full moon and amazing sunsets.

Can’t beat the privacy and location.

This property is in an amazing location. The views of the lake never got old and there was easy access for swimming and launching paddle boards and kayaks. Since I had to work during the week while we stayed here, I appreciated the speed and reliability of the internet connection. The kitchen is fully furnished and made it easy to cook whatever we wanted to. I highly recommend staying at this property.

This was exactly what we were looking for!! We ALL had a great stay here. Very well equipped.

The property is right on Cayuga Lake with a long shoreline, gorgeous views, and privacy. The property itself was bigger than expected and the house is modern but cozy. With multiple vantage points of Cayuga Lake there is no shortage of spots to take in the sights. The kayaks and private launch point was clutch. The dock provided a great spot to have morning coffee and take in some birdwatching. Definitely a winner!

Aesthetic sensibility - reflected in house interior/deck, grounds, lake-entries - is thoughtful and intelligently designed for new-arrivals. A beautifully cared-for property that makes you want to care for it in return. We loved it.

We had a fantastic time during our stay. Every day, my boys, husband, dog, and I swam, kayaked, and played lawn games. I especially loved observing and listening to the various birds around us.my boys have already asked if we can rent this property again next year!

Couldn’t recommend more. Unique and beautiful location. Well maintained and stocked.

The location is great. You really can’t beat the incredibly easy lake access with the privacy. Even though you feel far away, it’s less than 15-20 minutes to Wegmans, Ithaca Bakery, Purity Ice Cream, and the colleges. The property is large and flat, which our dog loved running around. The house has everything you need - kayaks, canoe, standup paddle board for the lake and plenty of games to play outside. There are lots of games to play inside as well as a nice selection of books to read. For people who like to cook, the kitchen has everything you need (except for the food). Everything is neatly labeled, and there is plenty of information in the house if you have any questions about how things work, which I greatly appreciate. The hosts and property manager are very nice and have always responded quickly. Myers Park is a 5 minute walk away. Just a little further is Salt Point Natural Area, which is lovely. The information in the listing is very accurate. I would highly recommend this house and hosts!

This is a wonderful cabin in a beautiful setting. The stay was extremely enjoyable and the property is clearly well taken care of by the owners. The listing and photos are pretty accurate. i just wish it was a little more private , The house was very well set up to start the stay. There was really nothing we needed that was not already there besides food. It was a fun cabin and we will be back.

It’s hard to find such a beautiful place surrounded by water, with easy access to swimming and kayaking. We loved walking right out and having a personal beach with an amazing view all the way to Ithaca. The home is clean, comfortable, and really set up with entertaining in mind. I appreciate the little things like having sharp knives in the kitchen, a heated drying rack in the bathroom, and lots of games in the closets. The bird watching is also incredible. Don’t worry about reading all the rules. It takes 10 minutes and is basically common sense requests to be good guests. And I prefer knowing the rules and how things work. Anyone who stays here won’t be disappointed!

Ideal location with 360 degree water views and all the comforts! We loved exploring the area and coming home to relax on the deck. We will be back!

The property is gorgeous and feels so secluded but easy access to everything needed.

The location directly on the lake is amazing with large grassy yard right up to the lake’s edge without need for any steps…surrounded by 270 degrees of water. House itself is modest and quaint with nice furnishings and decorations and very comfortable beds and well appointed with everything you’d need for a lake vacation. Hanging out in the hot tub and dock at sunset over the lake was the best! Highly recommend this rental!

Beautiful home off the beaten track. Lots of privacy and everything you need to hide away from the world for a short time. Short walk to a park with playgrounds for the kids with an easy 20 minute drive into Ithaca. Furniture was more comfortable than most vacation rentals. Very detailed instructions on how to use everything in the house. Would definitely rent again. Thank you. (We did not have any reason to talk to the property manager.)

Knowing there was always a chance that we could miss the eclipse due to weather (which is exactly what happened), we picked a home that we knew we’d enjoy regardless of what happened with the eclipse, and this home did not disappoint! The home was spotless, in a beautiful location on the lake, and the owners had thought of every detail - from furnishings to a well stocked kitchen and environmentally conscious decisions. The owners were friendly and informative. We loved every minute at this house and wish our schedules allowed us to stay longer. We definitely recommend this home!

Our family recently had the pleasure of staying at the property on the shores of Cayuga Lake, and the experience far exceeded our expectations. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted with breathtaking views that photos simply cannot capture. The property provided a perfect blend of comfort, elegance, and natural beauty, making it an idyllic retreat for both adults and children alike.
The house itself was impeccably clean, spacious, and equipped with all the amenities needed for a comfortable stay. Every window seemed to frame the lake and the surrounding landscape like a living painting, changing with the time of day. The outdoor spaces were equally impressive, offering private access to the lake, where our family enjoyed peaceful mornings by the water and fun-filled afternoons exploring.
The location of the property is ideal, combining seclusion with easy access to local attractions. We had the opportunity to explore the charming towns around Cayuga Lake, each with its unique character and hospitality. Whether we were tasting the local cuisine or embarking on a scenic hike, we always looked forward to returning to our beautiful lakeside haven.

Our stay at "The Point" on Cayuga Lake was truly enchanting. Nestled like an island, the property offers rare tranquility. The 650 feet of lake frontage provides sweeping vistas, from vibrant sunsets to serene dawns. The house is well-equipped, blending vintage charm with modern amenities. Outdoor features, including a hot tub and lakeside fire pits, enhanced our connection to nature. Additionally, the owner's attention to detail was evident in the comprehensive binder provided, containing invaluable information on local restaurants, excursions, and must-see attractions. This resource served as our guide, ensuring we made the most of our time exploring the area's hidden gems. The owners' commitment to sustainability, with solar-generated electricity, was commendable. Conveniently located near Ithaca, yet secluded, it struck a perfect balance. Wildlife sightings, from herons to bald eagles, enriched our experience. Exploring the lake with the provided watercraft added an adventurous touch. Moreover, the proximity to local attractions ensured there was never a dull moment. From exploring nearby parks to sampling local wineries, there was always something new to discover. Overall, "The Point" is an extraordinary retreat, offering a blend of serenity and adventure that left us eager to return. Check-in and check-out were seamless, allowing us to fully enjoy our time at this slice of paradise.

Thank you for sharing your family vacation home. There was no need to go anywhere. Words cannot describe the gorgeous lake view. Enjoyed the history of the land and the beautiful pictures/art throughout the home. The house is very well maintained. We want to say extra thanks for allowing our dogs. We rarely travel without them. Thank you 😊

Excellent location and gorgeous property. Dogs loved running around on the lake shore in the snow. Short drive to Salt Point Brewery. Ithaca and wineries not far. 30min from Greek Peak Ski Resort. Everything in the house was labeled for ease of use. Great trip, hope to return in summer.

Great property, very quiet and private retreat from people.

The property is nice, and quaint. It was very quiet and peaceful, at least in Nov. With the Marinas I can imagine it may not be as such doing the season. We enjoyed the stay. The house is well equipped for cooking and staying in. The only complaint I would have is the electric heating system (baseboard) is a bit noisy kicking on and off and would disrupt sleep.

We really enjoyed our time. The house was wonderful and location was better than I expected. Would recommend.

We had a lovely stay. The house is so well organized and directions are posted in perfect spots so there’s no questions. Really loved that! Could not be a more idyllic spot, and the outdoors is also set up perfectly. Very beautiful and relaxing.

Perfect long weekend for the family. Can't believe this place exists. Somehow open to the lake/marina on all sides yet at the same time incredibly private. We did not want to leave and still wish we were there. The grounds were great with the incredible views and peaceful lake/nature vibes. Inside was very comfy and appointed nicely. Couldn't ask for a better few days relaxation for all of us. Plus our 10-yr caught his first fish right off the dock - great memories! P.S. highly recommend Salt Point Brewing.

The location was amazing and on right on the lake. Plenty of space. The listing was accurate. We enjoyed our time!

This location is exactly as described. Almost an island of your own, the propery has everything needed to enjoy a secluded lakefront escape. The house is clean and well stocked with games, kayaks, canoes, firepits, and all that you could want if you choose to cook. We were able to use one of the boat companies that was suggested by the owner and had a boat delivered right to the house for our use. I highly recommend and look forward to an opportunity to return time and time again.

We had an amazing vacation in the Finger Lakes - primarily due to finding the perfect house/property. We loved the privacy, the ability to swim, kayak, and fish right from the house... without needing to walk up and down lots of steps like so many other lake houses in the area. We also appreciated the wide assortment of seemingly brand new games in the cabinets. The proximity to Ithaca was also a bonus as we went "into town" a few times to enjoy delicious meals. Thanks so much for a great stay! We hope to be back!

We loved the location being surrounded in so much lakefront. We also loved the amenities such as provided watercraft, the two docks, the hammocks, hot tub, swimming supplies and inside the house the fully equipped kitchen with quality kitchenware, heated towel rack, laundry room and two refrigerators. We enjoyed tying up the small boat we brought and traveling in and out via the nice and very convenient marina. Only reason not 5 star is we wish the deck was screened in because of the bugs getting in the house which is hard to avoid with this and any other lakefront location. Lovely home overall with great beds and bed linens, air conditioning in the bedrooms was just right.

Our family of four loved the house and location. We rented a pontoon from the marina, and just a short walk to the boat. We were worried about the marina "traffic", but it was completely quiet and not bothersome at all. The house was just as advertised, and we completely enjoyed our stay. The kayaks and SUP were thoroughly enjoyed by all the family, and was great to have the constant access to the boats. The best surprise of all was watching the minks work the shoreline everyday, what a fun delight!

This is our 4th summer stay at the house and we’ve already booked our 5th stay.
The location is great. You really can’t beat the incredibly easy lake access with the privacy. A very nice sized and flat piece of property, which our dog loved running around. The house has everything you need. Kayaks, canoe, standup paddle board for the lake. Plenty of games to play outside. Lots of games, some really interesting and different, to play inside. Nice selection of books to read. For people who like to cook, the kitchen has everything you need (except for the food). Everything is neatly labeled, and there is plenty of information in the house if you have any questions about how things work, which I greatly appreciate. If you have any additional questions, the hosts respond very quickly. Myers Park is a 5 minute walk away. Just a little further is Salt Point Natural Area, which is lovely. The Corner Pub at Rogue’s Harbor Inn is a nice place to get dinner (eat in or take out). Not too far from Wegmans, Ithaca Bakery, Purity Ice Cream, and the colleges. The information in the listing is very detailed and accurate. This is a great place to stay on Cayuga Lake!

3 generations traveled from Indiana to stay at this property and were we impressed! Everything we could have wanted or needed in a place away from home was provided! (except food of course) The property has many signs, labels, and documents to explain how things work and what is available to you as a guest. It's worth reading them and exploring the house when you get settled in. We found all of the details very helpful. We had no problem with the drinking/ice water jug replacement. We learned from a local that the co-op near the Ithaca Farmer's Market will let you refill the jugs for 40 cents a gallon instead of the $7 per jug at Tops (grocery store). The sandwich shop down the highway is a quirky place, but they have amazing sandwiches. We were able to enjoy the beautiful yard, lake views, nearby park, and visit with our friends. We attended the Farmer's Market (great little event!), walked to Ithaca Falls, and made the drive around the lake (almost directly across the lake from the property) to Taughannock Falls. We had a wide range of mobility and stamina in the members of our group. If you're not sure about which gorge to traverse, Taughannock is stroller/wheelchair friendly and Ithaca Falls is an easy and short walk to an amazing falls. We traveled with my 3 children, all under 10, and they had just as much fun as my retired in-laws. I hope we're able to stay at this property again when we visit Ithaca in the future! Thank you for a very accommodating stay!
