About this house rental

Our spacious home is waterfront with fabulous views of the lake! Located in a gated community, it is comfortable and inviting..The large family room downstairs is perfect for cozy gatherings and movie nights with comfortable seating and amazing views of the lake. Our large screen TV is set up with Roku for streaming. There is a formal living area just off the kitchen where you can relax, read a book, or enjoy visiting with friends and family.
Readers will enjoy the cozy and comfortable reading nooks. The 2nd floor master bedroom has a king bed and beautiful en suite bath. The soaking tub is heavenly! Connected to the master suite is an outside covered veranda overlooking the lake with two rocking chairs for your enjoyment. There are 2 bedrooms and 1 1/2 baths downstairs, both with queen beds. Extra care has been taken with the linens to maximize your comfort. The 4th bedroom has a a quad bunk bed system with pull out trundle bed and a fold out Futon. It is also equipped with a foosball table. The open deck is great for entertaining with chairs, tables, a bistro bar and a large charcoal grill. A fire pit on the lake side is a great place to hang out and roast marshmallows, play guitars and tell ghost stories! Our boathouse with upstairs party deck has been completely remodeled including composit decking.
We have 2 kayaks that you are welcome to use for fun on the water.
There is a community boat ramp nearby and also a playground area for the kids.
Come for the great fishing, water sports, fun in the sun, or just to get away from it all. We look forward to your visit!

Loved this property! We had some absolutely crazy weather the entire 7 days we stayed here. From tons of rain to storms to hail (3 times on 3 different days) to strong winds and lightning so needless to say, we spent a lot of time indoors. Kathy was amazing, always checking on us and informing us of damaging weather coming in and tending to our needs if we had any. She really took care of us. The dock was amazing for those times we couldn't get on the water. Swimming, fishing, laying and jumping off the top deck was a big part of our stay due to the weather so having that nice dock was a game changer here. The house was spacious enough for 12 of us which was great. I made some easy suggestions to the house manager Kathy on a few possible additions/improvements that would make this house even more perfect for a large group as we ran into a few snags being inside a lot more than usual but of course Ms. Kathy appreciates feedback and invites suggestions from her guests to make each and every stay as wonderful as possible. Great memories were made! We will be back next year :)

This home was clean and comfortable for our family vacation. The only issue we had was quickly taken care of by the kind property mgr who is quick to respond to any questions! We don't usually take our dogs on vacation, but the fenced in back yard made it easy for us! The Master suite was especially wonderful with comfy King bed and lovely en suite bathroom. The house is on a great part of the lake and with stairway for easy in/out of the water, and upper deck for stargazing. Our kids enjoyed the gameroom/bunk room and also the tv room with a really comfy sofa that was large enough for our whole family watch a movie together. Thank you!!

We enjoyed this place overall! The host could improve by providing shower soaps (there was none) and by providing some basic tupperware and/or Seran Wrap / Foil in the kitchen. We also had a little problem getting the fridge to cool everything down. There is an ice maker in the kitchen that was super helpful so we really thought that was a good addition. Clean house overall and spacious. The dock is nice and the yard provides areas for activities also!

We would recommend Southern Star and owner, Kathy to anyone visiting Mabank, Tx ! The neighborhood was very peaceful and quiet. The house had many nice touches that made us all feel at home. We did not spend too much time at the actual house as we were there for a family wedding but we can see why you would come there to relax as a group.

We booked this lake house to celebrate my 40th Birthday weekend with family and friends. It is absolutely beautiful and just as pictured. There was plenty of room for everyone to stretch out and relax. The kitchen has everything you need to prepare meals minus the food. The back yard and lake views are incredible. We spent our days relaxing on the dock or kayaking and our evenings by lakeside by the fire pit. The owner was open with communication and followed up with any needs we may have had. We highly recommend this property.

The house was perfect for our family. My fiancé was even able to catch a fish in the freezing weather from the dock. Even though no one seen it and it was supposedly so big that it broke the line. Lol. As soon as we pulled up the property manager was in touch and always a call away for any accommodations. Thank y’all for everything.

This home was everything I have ever dreamed! Loved the colors, the design, and beautiful landscape! That lighted dock at night is a wozzer indeed! Although our stay was supposed to be a birthday celebration it turned into a refuge because my beautiful niece was in hospice and sadly passed. We stayed for three nights with our friends, and had a lovely time. The beds were very comfortable, and the kids loved the foosball table upstairs. There was enough room to have your own space when needed and also quality together time. The weather was easily 10 degrees less than it is in Dallas, and the nights were almost cool. It was fantastic!

This was our second stay here. The house is the perfect size for our group of 9, plus visitors a couple of the days - plenty of beds and two separate living areas so we can spread out. Great stay!

We stayed for 5 nights with 5 adults and 5 children. We loved the boat dock and yard complete with fire pit for s'mores. We spent each morning drinking coffee on the screened in back porch looking out at the beautiful lake. The TV room has a huge sectional large enough to accommodate our entire group - we enjoyed watching a movie here one rainy day. Overall we had a great experience! Kathy was very responsive to any questions we had.

This house needs a lot of maintenance and smells very musty in the downstairs bedrooms and full bath. Oven won’t preheat over 300 degrees. Ice maker is great, but is so loud it could wake the dead. The backyard area is wonderful. The most disturbing thing was the fact that the neighbors make it very clear they don’t want vacation rentals in the neighborhood.

Perfect for our family!

This house was perfect for our entire family with plenty of room for everyone to spread out. The cousins (ages 12, 14 & 16) could play video games to their hearts content, and the adults didn't have to hear a thing. The screened patio was wonderful for sitting and enjoying the day, while the back yard and deck were perfect for enjoying the beautiful sunsets. The kitchen is very well appointed with plenty of room for multiple cooks. The icemaker gets a little loud when you're sitting at the table but maintains ice even when turned off for extended periods. All in all, a perfect spot for our holiday retreat. Can't wait to try it in the summer time!

We had a wonderful weekend at this beautiful lakeside home! We had a small family reunion consisting of adults, younger children, teens and grandparents and everyone enjoyed the home and amenities. The yard and the lake views look like they are straight out of a Hallmark Movie! The home is laid out giving everyone their own private space even with a group of eight! The kids bunk room was awesome and the adults loved having a private bedroom. The ice maker was a nice touch as we spent a lot of time at the lake and could easily fill up our cooler. We rented a pontoon boat and it was simple to pull up to the dock when needed. The sunset views were amazing too! We are glad we found this fantastic home and would love to return in the future.
