Wonderful place to swim, hike, relax

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The views were as good as advertised. Location is excellent. It’s in a gated community with a lake, small beach, and short hiking trails to a waterfall and river. The only shortcoming is that the third bedroom is not quite a full “bedroom”Has all of the basic kitchenware.

Lovely cabin with easy access to lake and stream.

We really enjoyed our time away at the cabin. My idea if vacation is peace and relaxation without crowds and thats just what we found here! The AC at the cabin works great! Love the mountain view from the kitchen sink and master bath!

The house is located in a neighborhood called River Bend which is located on top of a mountain with dirt , steep, and winding roads with sheer drop offs. You need to be careful driving to and fro the house in this neighborhood. The GPS and internet were hit or miss while driving to the house (not owner's fault). If you have kids, the lake is a stone's throw away which is a plus. The house was neat and tidy but dark (It was surrounded by trees with few windows). The a/c was cool enough on the main and bottom floors, not so with the upper floor (you could not sleep on the top floor at night). (It was high 80's and low 90's outside when we stayed there). I slept on the bottom floor bedroom which did not have any curtains on the sliding glass door (which the owner should remedy). You got up when the sun rose, like it or not. It was peaceful there. No noise. The bed sheets and bath towels were old. This oversight is a simple fix and would make the stay better. The house was large and close to the lake. The house was close to my brother's house which is why I rented this house. We saw two deer on the side of the road while driving back to the house one night. I had an okay time staying at this house but would not rent this house or any house at River Bend again.

House was beautifully decorated, loved the screen in decks, the the downside was the water was great if you enjoy cold showers, a Keurig coffee maker would've been nice , some sort of shading the glass doors facing lake would've been nice other than that , the family had a nice time

It was fun and we enjoyed the time we were there

Everything was amazing the cabin it self was beautiful the view of the lake and all the places around we visit chimney rock and the view's where stunning family have a great time

It was a beautiful cabin and the view was breath taking.
The only disappointment was the steps away from the lake. I really thought we would be right on the water with our private little adventure but that was not the case. It was literally steps down the side of a bank. It was rough going back to the cabin. However, that was my fault, I should have made sure we were on the lake as I had hoped. Overall the stay was peaceful, beautiful, and the cabin offered all of our family needs along with plenty of room.
Thanks for sharing your cabin with my family and I.

My husband and I stayed at this property a little over a year ago, and decided to return for a few days to get away from the hustle and bustle at home. The place is truly gorgeous...well furnished and stocked with all the essentials. The two screened porches are a BIG asset in mosquito territory, and the gas fireplaces are just right for those cool mornings and evenings. A great quiet place for couples, but also big enough for the whole family. Had a great time!

After planning a three day stay at this property, we had to leave after one day, ruining our vacation. So disappointing. Things got off to a rough start before we even arrived. The “road” heading up to the cabin is nothing more than gravel. That would be okay, except for the fact that it is very tight and along a very steep grade in several spots. Also, we had to get out of the car at one point to clear two trees out of our path, right next to one of the areas of steep grade. Upon arrival to the cabin itself, we discovered that there was no WiFi, and that the TV had very few channels available. To the owner’s credit, she was easy to contact, but she had no solutions and could only say she had not been to the property in a year, so the solution was to have a Verizon rep call us, which never happened. This was still our first day there. At this point it was late so we decided to head upstairs to sleep. When we got up there, despite having the thermostat set at 65, the temperature had risen to an uncomfortable level. To add insult to injury, we found a COCKROACH in the master bath when we woke up. When I later discussed this with the owner, she said that she expected to find hundreds, but only found the one, implying that I had exaggerated. First, I NEVER said there was more than one roach. What I did in fact state was that, as anyone knows, if you see one cockroach, you know there are hundreds more hidden away. Second, and more importantly, for the rate we paid per night, you should not see any roaches. We really wanted to like this cabin. But it simply was not as advertised. Maybe others will enjoy it, but we had to cancel our vacation two days early. I think that speaks for itself.

We had a wonderful time at Suzie’s Cabin even though it was a bit dusty, and the WiFi was nonexistent. About 2 hours after we left, I got an email saying Suzie has claimed our security deposit. Confused and befuddled to why this happened, because we treat this cabin like our home while we were staying there, cleaned up everything before we left, even bought our own paper towels and garbage bags because there was only 1 garbage bag and no paper towels in the entire house for us to clean with. I called Suzie only to find out that we lost our deposit because the pots we used to cook with was blackened and covered in food. After I assured Suzie that the pots and pants were blackened because of previous usage (not from us) and with normal wear for pots and pants, and we definitely clean it as best as we could and left everything exactly how we found it. She tried to stand by her reason by saying we should have soaked it in peroxide or Ajax overnight and scrub it until it is spotless. I told her, it was not part of the check out instruction that we had to and there was no peroxide or baking soda, the only thing we had in the house is a used dish sponge. I told her that if she didn’t want us to use her pots, she could have mentioned it in our previous conversations, we would be more than happy to bring our own. She was not satisfied with my answers, saying that her floor was sticky and her windows were sticky. I reminded her that we paid a cleaning fee on top of our rental fee for this reason and that we did not left anything sticky, but if that’s what she claims, this is NOT a reason for her to take the damage deposit. Again trying to grasp at straws, she claimed we checked out over an hour late. No, we did not. We were tidying up the house before we left as best as we could, without a vacuum, a mob, and not even windex. And we pull out of the drive way 30 mins passed 10am. I told her if she wants to pull a fast one and take our damage deposit, please don’t try to belittle us. Either that or she wanted us to spend the week there mobbing her house and wiping her windows. I am so disappointed of Suzie’s business ethic as a house rental manager and how she tried to take more money from us after we paid in full for 7 nights rental which included a cleaning fee.
If you’re planning to stay here, please make sure you take a video of the house before and after your stay because it seems like Suzie will try to find any excuse to take your money.

BEWARE!!! Cabin was not cleaned when we arrived. We had to go purchase cleaning products, paper towels and trash bags. Cabinet with cleaning supplies has a pad lock. Large dead spiders in both bathrooms and cobwebs covering the cabin. Cable does not have ESPN. We left the property exactly as we found it, probably cleaner. Property manager sent an outrageous email accusing the cabin of being trashed and is attempting to charge another $200 fee. We have pictures before we left, the accusations are FALSE. The property is beautiful, the property management is a nightmare and will file additional charges. DO NOT RENT!!!

The view is great, the overall filth of the cabin was pretty intolerable. The ancient mattresses were very uncomfortable. A thorough cleaning and updated mattresses would do a world of good.

This is a really nice place to getaway. It was just the 2 of us in this very spacious cabin. Coffee on the deck in the morning was amazing. Don't fret over the "offroad" experience to get to the cabin. It's well worth the trouble.

We loved this house and neighborhood! So much to do with 3 young boys and such a beautiful area! Wish we could've stayed longer.

We enjoyed our stay. The accommodations were great. Great views of the water at the beach after a short climb down some steps to the water. Susie was very responsive and great to deal with. The Wi-Fi was a little slow at times but we really didn’t need to use it much for our stay. We had a wonderful time and loved the area! The deck and screened porch were a plus and was so nice being able to sit out and enjoy the fresh air. It is a gated community so a key code or scan card is needed to get in after 6. There are instructions in the check in section. I would stay again! I loved the homie feel of the cabin with plenty of room for us to have our own space.

This property was awesome we loved to log cabin and all its charm. We loved enjoying the screened porches and the fire places. Was a great way to spend some quality time with our family. Didn’t even turn the TV on the whole weekend. Susie was a great host and we would totally come back again.

Absolutely loved the location of the property to mirror lake. It was our second year staying in Riverbend, and though the stairs are steep, super convenient to be right there! House was large enough for the whole family and multiple generations. Only thing is the cleaning could have been a bit better. There were cob webs that have been there for a long time and not touched but I know that’s the cleaning crews that come through. The master bedroom “door” was a bit interesting and then no door to the master bathroom so even when everyone was downstairs still felt that you weren’t closed off. The owner was super responsive, had to reach out a couple times during our stay and after and was always helpful! We absolutely love the area and have made it our destination for our family vacation every year!

Overall, we enjoyed our stay at Whataview cabin. As advertised, the view of the lake, trees, and mountains are beautiful. Also, there is a variety of affordable up to expensive dining options that we enjoyed—all within 15 minutes from the cabin. For us though, we recommend avoiding if you require full wheelchair accessibility. The bathroom on the main floor is not accessible at all. If fully wheelchair bound, then be aware you will need to take your vehicle down to the lake. Neither the fire pit area nor the path down to the lake are wheelchair accessible.

The rental is located in a lovely setting that offers lots of nearby activities: swimming, picnicking, zip lining, horse back riding, etc.
Loved the deck, screened porch and dog gate!
Great views from the house!
Plenty of areas to hang out in the house for a family or friends group.
A few issues:
The rental does not come equipped with basics such as soap, toilet paper, paper towels, cleaning solution, etc, Be prepared to bring everything you need.
The rental lacks a door to the bathroom on the top level. If you want privacy, you have to ask people to leave the upstairs area.
The rental is many steep steps away from the lakefront.
The entrance to the housing development requires a gate code. We did not receive it - make sure to ask for this.

Everything was as pictured. Absolutely no issues. Love you view from the master bath toilet.....awe serenity.

Perfect vacation spot. Clean, comfortable, great location, well stocked. Loved the decor. Our Granddog loved the secured deck. We made some wonderful family memories. Highly recommend.

Lovely mountain cabin by the lake. Well cared for by owner.

This is one of the nicest cabins we have ever stayed in near lake Lure. Most cabins do not have the ambience and decorative touches that makes 329 Chipmunk many steps above the rest. Between the view, the cabin decor, and the owner's concern about our comfort makes this a cabin we wil surely return to,

Me and my husband celebrated Thanksgiving with our son, daughter-in-law, two grandchildren, and our dogs. The view is absolutely beautiful and the house is in a great, convenient location.

WHATAVIEW is just as it’s listed. A great view of the mountains and the lake! Short walk to the beach area where we spent some time casting a line. Great location and was a great weekend getaway for us! Would recommend, especially if multiple couples as each level basically has its own living area with a full bathroom. Perfect!

What a fabulous place to spend my month long sabbatical with my husband and two young children. We loved the house, the lake, the river, and being close to Chimney Rock State Park/ Village, and not too far from so much else. We hope to visit again. Suzie is lovely and checked in to make sure all was well. So many amazing memories. A beautiful home, community, and location.

Nice quiet stay. Beautiful view.

So relaxing
I did not realize the house is in a gated community. It is an extremely safe and family friendly place. As I was recovering from shoulder surgery, I wanted an easy vacation. This was it. So lovely to be in the woods surrounded by nature. We saw some baby deer and rabbits. I expected a lot more craziness during July 4, but it was quiet. The dog wouldn’t have liked fireworks . We ate in every night and had everything we needed. We even used the charcoal grill, which we haven’t used in 30 years, but it was simple. Only point….follow your car gps to initially find the house, my phone gps was way off. Thank you Suzie….you were a wonderful host.

Summer Vacation
My family and I enjoyed staying at this cabin. It is in a perfect location close to the lake. I loved being just steps away from the lake and being able to use the canoe to explore Mirror Lake. We look forward to staying at this cabin again in the near future.
