About this house rental
Our house is is a beautiful two-bedroom home with a separate den/office. It is located at 40 Oster Court. The house is furnished and equipped as a second home--not a 'rental unit.' All three of the bathrooms are new. Our family loves to cook --the kitchen is a cook's kitchen. We are located on the quiet part of a private community, Sunset Captiva, just a few minutes walk from the pool and beach. We have a small citrus grove behind the house (grapefruit, orange, meyer lemon and key lime trees) and an extensive orchid collection. Several good restaurants are within a two minute walk. The community pool is only a three minute walk away. The beach is just a minute further. There is great boating and fishing. The beach is extraordinary and extends for miles. This is a great vacation home for young families. We have two pak-n-plays, a high chair and baby monitor. We are at the end of a cul de sac- away from the noise on Andy Rosse lane -and the setting is quiet and private. Please take a look at our visitors' comments which convey the experience.

This was our first trip back to Captiva after Hurricane Ian and the island is coming along nicely. Sunset Captiva 40 is well maintained along with the property complex.

Our family had a wonderful week at Sunset Captiva. This home had everything we needed to be comfortable. The kitchen is very well stocked and bathrooms are all newly renovated and very Functional. It was wonderful having a full bathroom downstairs. We also really loved having the office with the couch so that people could spread out throughout the house and have a quiet spot to read. The community has really stepped up to replace plantings after hurricane Ian. The pool area is really lovely. Nice boardwalk to the beach that was a very quick walk from the house. Wonderful stay overall! Awesome post!

Great rental if you have smaller children and love to cook! The home had 2 pack-n-plays for our 5 month-old which allowed us to keep one in the first floor office for naps and the primary bedroom for night time. One less bag for us to check at the airport! The kitchen came equipped with all of the necessary kitchen tools to create a feast. Bonus: The house was also stocked with games which were enjoyed before bedtime, as well as a small library in the event of rainy weather or a day on the beach. We look forward to returning.

Mr. Adler was a great host. The home is just as described I say Home because that is what it felt like. The little village is so clean and well maintained. The pool was great as was the walkways to the beach. Just a beautiful location.

Perfect Choice
My son and I just spent a week in this Unit on Captiva Island. It was a last-minute booking but turned out to be a perfect choice. The unit has great space with private screened private balconies. And a king bedroom, with a master bath and a bedroom with two queens with its own bath. Since this a house rather than a condo, it is quiet! You will not notice the neighbors although they are close. The home also has a small office, so if you must do some work, you can do it in comfort. The location is perfect; at the end of Captiva Island, it has private access to miles of white sand beaches, perfect for those morning walks on the Gulf of Mexico. In addition, it has a large HEATED pool. Restaurants and shops are just a short walk away. I can find only one thing wrong with this house: We had to leave after 7 Days! Thanks for sharing your home.

Paradise on Captiva
We return to this property each year for several reasons: Captiva is a quiet, reliably warm and beautiful spot; the Adler property is very well sited in a quiet neighborhood with pool, beach, lovely neighborhood walks, decent restaurants, the Captiva library and manatees close by and the house is very well maintained and well supplied with everything needed to relax, cook and read. We come to this property to get away from the “real world” and we have never been disappointed. We’ve already booked for next year.

Great Place to Stay
We were very pleased with our stay at Sunset Captiva. The unit was well kept, clean, kitchen had anything you may need, very comfortable beds and the decor made you feel at home. Jeff, the local house overseer, was responsive and helpful when we had difficulty accessing the WiFi. The location is a few minutes walk to the beach, Captiva restaurants and McCarthy’s Marina. We took two trips out of McCarthy’s - Cabbage Key And Boca Grande. Both were enjoyable and we had fun driving the golf cart to see more of Boca Grande. Should we visit Captiva again, we would definitely stay at this home.

All Sunshine in Paradise
We had a wonderful family vacation at this well-maintained & spacious house in Sunset Captiva. The owners take great care of the house & it is fully stocked with anything you need for a home away from home. The neighborhood is cute with a good size pool for the number of units & access to the bayside dock where my son caught his first fish!! Location is nice as it’s close enough to walk to shops & restaurants in Captiva. Great place, great island, great family getaway, highly recommended overall.

We enjoyed our stay in # 40 Sunset Captiva. Loved how light it is!
Mr. Adler left lots of information about things to see and do while we were there. Our unit was clean and every effort was made to supply everything we could possibly need while staying there.

Fantastic holiday home, everything we needed for the family. Really recommend it.
As a family of four we stayed here for a week and it was superb. The host had sent us a really useful information pack in advance so we knew all the restaurants and sightseeing things to do which was so helpful. The house has everything you need including plenty of towels and bedding aswell as family and children games so all we needed was food which was great as we were travelling from the UK. Having free access to the community pool was brilliant for the children when they wanted to cool down from the beach. In easy walking distance from everything you could possibly need and Captiva is just stunning. We miss this house and Captiva already!

Another great stay!
This is the second time my wife and I stayed at Bob's house with our three daughters, now ages 6, 9, and 11. House is set up perfectly for our needs. Beds are comfortable and the kitchen has any utensil needed to prepare anything. We visited in the off season and enjoyed easy access to many restaurants on Captiva, including the Green Flash and Doc Ford's. Will definitely stay again!

Lovely property with all necessary amenities included
My family really enjoyed our stay at the Adler Familiy's Sunset Captiva property. The condo was spacious, clean, well maintained, well equipped, and we had no issues with appliances, water pressure, air conditioning etc..The property owner had an office with a computer and printer available for guest use. He also left helpful information and brochures of various restaurants, activities, and nearby shopping. The condo's proximity to the little "hub" area of Captiva is within walking distance. We rented bikes and our boys rented Vespas to tour around Captiva and neighboring Sanibel. We would definitely recommend this property and would stay here again.
Unfortunately, we arrived (Aug 7-14) right at the worst of the dreaded Red Tide that destroyed the beaches of Captiva ( as well as most of the Gulf Coast of Florida) for most of our stay. The number of dead fish and the horrendous, toxic smell from their rotting corpses was absolutely disgusting. The municipality of Captiva Island should be ashamed of themselves for not moving fast enough and diligently enough to clean up Captiva Beach. Even though this is claimed to be a "natural disaster" (natural certainly not to this degree- human disregard for nature to blame), a great deal more could have been done to support tourists. If this was our first trip to Captiva Island and we had not known its true beauty from prior trips, we would never bother to return again. Many first timers we met were disgruntled by the lack of clean up. Given tourism is the basis for Captiva's economy, one would think a lot more could have been done to clean up the beaches.

Family friendly by the beach and convenient dock fishing!
We had a great time in Captiva at this sweet house. It was a great size for the 5 of us, our 11yo boys took the twin room and our 13yo had the pullout to herself in the office. I loved the open floor plan so I could be cooking and still interact with everyone. The kitchen had every item we needed-pans, spoons, tongs, nice kitchen knives as well. All the bathrooms were very nice, pretty tile and towels were high quality, thick and soft. The air conditioner worked very well for the size of the home and we stayed cool in July in Florida! We did love being able to walk to the island store and restaurants in Old Captiva. Our boys absolutely loved fishing from the dock! It would not have been the same trip without that activity and the staff at Jensen's were very helpful and super friendly. We saw manatees everyday and so many other cool wildlife to keep us entertained as we patiently waited for a bite. The beach was a bit of a walk from the house, so the wagon was very helpful. The kids loved body surfing and made a huge sand castle and easily decorated it with the zillions of shells.
So why did I only give 4 stars? These are minor things but, I want to be honest in my review. I wish the kitchen had been a little more updated, it had all we needed as I mentioned, but counters and appliances were dated. A weird thing that I am not sure can be changed was at the pool. We couldn't understand why it was so warm. We hoped for that refreshing splash and cooling lounging and didn't find it there. Also, the cleaning ladies surprised us by coming a little early. We had a late flight out so we were still packing up when they arrived. Sweet and thoughtful that we were still there but, we felt we had to rush out so they could get started.
That being said we would certainly recommend this house to anyone to enjoy in Captiva and thank you for sharing it with us!

Clean, COMFY Master bed & VERY well stocked
More like your own home than a rental. Had everything we needed. This is the third home we've stayed in at the Sunset Captiva neighborhood and liked it the best. It's not the closest home to the beach but certainly the most comfortable and maintained. And with the beach less than 200 yards away...we were just fine. Great correspondence with the owner. No complaints.

We've been coming for years and will continue!
As always, our stay here was lovely. This house is more a home than just a place to visit and it shows. The home is well maintained, clean and well equipped. 2 full bathrooms, a king master bedroom and twin beds in the 2nd room upstairs. Plenty of linens, soap, facial and toilet tissue always provided. Beach towels are available as well. Main floor has another full bath, a fully equipped office with wi-fi and a printer should you need it, a pair of sofa beds are also available for sleeping should you need them (one in the separate office gives you a 3rd private sleeping space if needed). Lovely dining room table seats 6 and there's outdoor dining seating available on the screened porch. Fully equipped kitchen with multiple sets of flatware, dishes and glasses mean you aren't going to be short or need paper plates if serving a family. Everything you need to prepare any meal - all full sized appliances including food processor, toaster, microwave and blender. Laundry available which means you can pack minimally if you choose which takes the stress out of preparing yourself and/or family for your visit. Bring you swimsuit, flip flops and sunscreen and enjoy.
Typically there are also sand chairs, floats of some sort, umbrellas and other beach goodies also available for use. Quick walk to the pool, tennis courts, community grills and beach on the Sunset shelled street and shaded boardwalk
We've been coming since the first year this home was available and love it. You will too.
