Very comfortable home with excellent beach amenities- plenty of beach chairs, umbrella, etc. We really enjoyed the large screened in porch and outdoor dining table. The complex’s pool is fantastic, with plenty of lounge chairs. Short walk to the beach and Captiva restaurants. Highly recommend!

The property was great. It was was a short walk to the pool and beach, as well as the marina where we rented our boat and fishing gear.

Great family place for an amazing vacation!

The place was great and the development is very kid friendly. We met many people who come here year after year. The house was as pictured, clean and well maintained. There is one improvement that would make us more likely to return -- a king sized bed in the master suite that is firmer than the existing queen. The current bed is very soft.

The house was perfect for our family. Very well equipped with beach toys for the kids, beach chairs and coolers for the adults. Had everything we needed. We really enjoyed our stay.

We loved staying at 47 Sunset Captiva! What a lovely house. It suited our party of 6 adults very well. The beds were comfortable, the house was spotlessly clean when we arrived. The property manager provided detailed instructions and we found everything just as it was advertised. Everything in the home was in good working order.
The location of this Property on Oster Within the Sunset Captiva community was only a short walk from the boardwalk out to the beach. Along the way to the beach we walked past beautiful (I mean breathtaking!) landscaping complete with several blooming orchids and bougainvillea and jasmine plants. If you come here be sure to look up into the palms to see giant travelers palms in bloom. And Nesting Osprey families chatting and hunting together! The bird watching on the beach was really special. There was a large flock of skimmers that congregated on the beach everyday. We saw pelicans and egrets and little sandpipers all day long. And the best surprise of all was the daily appearance of dolphins (mommies with little babies!) playing and hunting fish only a few yards from the beach. Beautiful! At night because the islands are national wildlife preserves there were no lights on the beach. But the boardwalk remained lit with soft yellow lights so you could easily and safely get back and forth from the beach.
The pool was clean and a perfect temperature. We visited in Early November so no place was crowded and we never waited for meals or seating at the Mucky Duck or chairs at the pool. It was practically perfect in every way. I’m so glad we found this place!

We booked this house due its proximity to everything in the village. This vacation was to celebrate my daughters' graduations (high school and master's degree). Their dad and family were in South Seas, just a short distance away. The house was spacious and met our needs. We were close to the pool and beach. We had a great time! Loved the iguanas and rabbits. We don't have the iguanas in Central Florida.

The condo at 47 Sunset was perfect for my group. The bedrooms with attached bathrooms were convenient and comfortable for everyone. The main living area was perfect for spending time together as a family!! There were ceiling fans in every room and the air conditioning was exactly what you needed after a long day at the beach and pool!! The screened in porch was absolutely lovely, the surrounding trees made you feel like you were in your own tropical paradise without all the bugs!! There are 3 ceiling fans outside on the porch making it very comfortable, even in hot July!! We were provided with everything we needed from beach chairs, umbrellas, floats, sand toys, and beach towels! The pool (and bathrooms) were clean, just a short walk down the well maintained gorgeous, street that also led to the private boardwalk to the beach! We had an amazing week and cannot wait to return!! The location was perfect. The next street over hosts many different restaurants, bars, and shops. There's something for everyone!!
If I had to say something negative I would say that there was a lot of debris under the house, it was not as well taken care of as the surrounding condos/ homes. BUT there was a hurricane the week before we arrived, so I think that was why!!! It certainly wasn't terrible, but the only thing I can think to mention.

Master shower needs updated
Dinning room chairs are uncomfortable to say the least.
Dryer needs work clogged vent or something.
These are a couple thoughts the house is nice.

We had the perfect vacation here. The house was plenty spacious for 4 adults. The lanai was all screened in and we enjoyed evening meals out here. We cooked on the grill many nights after watching the spectacular sunsets on the beach which is a very short walk. In the morning you could walk over to the bay and watch the sunrise. Just a perfect location. It's also a short walk to the village with all the little restaurants and shops. Homeowner George was very helpful with the reservations and he answered all my questions after we reserved the property as well. There is a wonderful boat dock on the bay side. We rented a boat ( Monroe Canal Marina in St. James City on Pine Island) for a week and owner George and maintenance man George were very helpful getting us the boat slip. The pool is also a short walk ( on the way to the beach) and was wonderful for a swim after a beach day. The pool area is well maintained and clean. There are tennis courts as well although we didn't play. Having a washer and dryer at the house was key as we didn't have to pack extra clothes and I had room to bring home all my shells collected on the beach each day! This is our first time staying in Captiva for two weeks as we have been faithful Sanibel vacationers but we will definitely be back to this property next year.

I was blessed with the opportunity to stay at Captiva 47 with a few friends I know. At first, I thought there was no way I would ever get that lucky to stay someplace that nice. I'm just your average person, if you will, who never has an opportunity for a vacation like this.
This home was phenomenal. True paradise. I wanted to cry tears of joy upon my arrival. Very nice accommodations, clean and very modernized. Seriously, I pinched myself. I've been to beaches before, however, I was just in complete Aww of this home! The screened in deck was amazing, especially while it rained. Enjoyed reading and eating out there. The sun room is also nice and peaceful. I was pleased to have great TV, internet and washer and dryer. The beds and linens were SO comfortable. Spacious closets, ceiling fans and nice tile/carpeting. It was convienently located. We were able to walk everywhere we went and it was off of the main road. What made it even better was the hospitality shown from neighbors, locals and the groundskeeper. The folks were very nice. Such a beautiful place. I would recommend this home and Captiva Island to anyone looking for fun, solitude and many amenities all in one. Don't get me wrong, all of the homes looked nice. However, Captiva 47 is like smack in the middle and it was so easy to find our way around. This was my first time staying in a beach house before. I've always stayed in hotels. I would love to say I can't wait to return although, I know I will never have that chance again. Literally, I feel as though my stay was a "Once in a Lifetime" kind of thing. I hated to leave and I believe that anyone looking at the above home to rent, you need to do so. You will not be disappointed. Plenty of books to read, board games to play and beach essentials. Enjoy your stay after you make your reservation here. I will remember that house, my vacation there for the rest of my life. Great food around, places to shop and of course the beach, pool and tennis courts. This location is also within walking distance to the chapel and library. I hope to return one day. I guess I should say I can't wait for the day I return! It just may take me awhile. What I can tell you is I will never settle for anything else! Whatever the cost, it's worth it. I'm an over worked nurse who hadn't vacationed in awhile. I wasn't expecting to take away the memories I did. Oh, and the cabinets are great, window glass. Again...make sure you reserve number 47. You'll be glad you did.

My family stayed at George's house in Sunset Captiva for the first time in March 2014. What a fantastic stay! We had 2 children in one room, and adults in the other two bedrooms (one of which had a Murphy bed), so we all had our space. The house had everything that we needed: beach towels, beach chairs and beach umbrella, beach toys for the kids, pool toys. The washer/dryer were great for a week stay. We loved the screened-in porch where we ate meals, and the kitchen was perfect. The location can't be beat - just one block from the middle of the island, where all of the restaurants and the store are located. My kids loved the pool in Sunset Captiva, and we grilled out one night at the grill area near the pool. The beach is right past the pool area, and my kids had a blast looking for shells and playing in the sand. George was friendly and helpful in the booking process. We loved our stay!

My family and I rented this property for a month this past winter, we have rented it many times before and get more impressed with the owner's updating every time. The complex is convenient to restaurants, marinas, stores, etc.. This is one of the premier properties of this group. It is a short walk to the beach in one direction, and bay side in the other, unit includes a boat slip and private dock. We have been a lot of places, this is a really good one, we are already booked in for next year.

My wife and I celebrated Thanksgiving and our Anniversary by again making the trip to Captiva and Sunset Captiva #47. The accomodations are absolutely perfect. Plenty of space for all, quiet spot for relaxation, great customer service from Royal Shell, and lest I forget George for his helpful hints along the way.
We hated to leave, but are looking forward to our trip back in 2016 for our 35th Anniversary.

We spent a wonderful week at this house in September. The house is well appointed with everything you could need. Some surprises included a cart to haul your things to the beach and a very well appointed kitchen. Also, plenty of chairs and beach toys to go round. The boat dock was truly a plus as we decided to rent a boat at the last minute. The owner George was so great in helping us out with several things. The neighborhood around the house is very peaceful and private, more so than it appears on google earth. The foliage around the property was just stunning and being able to walk to the bay and the town was a big advantage. Will rent from this owner and this house again. The property manager was also very helpful with some things we needed.

Wonderful home with a helpful owner. The home has all of the beach toys and chairs your family could need. We had a great time and will be back next year. Thank you again for the experience and help in making this a wonderful trip for my family.

Just returned from a wonderful week in paradise. Location was excellent - just a short walk from the beach and Captiva shopping. The house is wonderfully maintained - cleaned and appeared just as shown in the description. The owner was so helpful in answering our questions and giving us tips before our arrival. It was a great place for a family vacation. We will definitely be back and would highly recommend this property. You will love it!

Thanks George for sharing your slice of paradise with us. We had a wonderful time. My 3 boys, 17, 19 and 21 had a wonderful week and we may return next year. The location is so convenient and we enjoyed walking on the beach, building sandcastles, playing tennis, relaxing in the pool, kayaking across the street in the bay and the mangroves and running around the island. Most nights we walked to dinner and then played games to cap off a long day. Great for an active but relaxed vacation.

great location-walk to beach and restaurants, beautiful sunsets...house was comfy and the screened porch was a plus...has all the beach toys/chairs/towels/cooler included. Would definitely recommend this place to all!

My wife and I brought our 3-year old son to this beautiful home in May 2010 and truly enjoyed our stay. The home allows you to enjoy the comforts of home (nice kitchen, plenty of room, TV/DVD, etc.) while being only a few hundred yards down a private path to the beach. The pool was a lifesaver too on very hot afternoons. My parents came to join us too for a few days and we were more than comfortable with enough room for everyone. The house is also very close to all the restaurants and shops that make Captiva a very quiet, fun place to enjoy your beach getaway. Highly recommended!!

We stayed at 47 Sunset Captiva im March of 2004. In one phrase, it was fabulous, and here are some reasons. It was close to all the activities we wanted to do: boating, shelling, parasailing, biking, and relaxing. It was within easy walking distance to great restaurants, bars, and shops. It was a good value offering - sure it wasn't right on the beach, but very close and we didn't have all the commotion (or cost) of being right on the beach. It had a shared pool for when we were tired of the ocean, which was hardly at all. It had all the necessary room(s) we needed, three bathrooms, three bedrooms (using the den), a modern kitchen, a spacious living area, a laundry room, and best of all - a huge porch to enjoy the wonderful weather and occasional music from the village area. It was well maintained and the housekeeping staff was responsive when we needed them. We looked at many houses to rent, and this one completely met our expectations; the excellent accommodations made a fabulous location even better. When we go back to Captiva, we'll check the availability of this house again.

We had a great time! Sunny days in the low 80's, long walks on the beach, kayaking and many Coronas. We'll be calling about a return in 2006.
Captiva combines easy access to great shopping, restaurants and activities with a picture-book tropical setting. Great beach and spectacular sunsets.
Sunset Captiva offers a great beachfront location with well-maintained community facilities including a pool and tennis courts. The house is lovely and spacious with all the amenities. We'll be back!

We have had many spectacular trips to both Sanibel and Captiva, and have made Captiva our preferred location after our stays in Sunset Captiva. The house was wonderful, fully stocked, and more than met our expectations. The location was supurb with easy access to both beach and bay.

We have just returned from our fourth year in Captiva ... at the same house. And we have already renewed our reservation for next year.
When we first decided to explore the west coast of Florida, we searched in Sanibel, the area we had heard about. Then, my husband found a website with a house in Captiva that looked inviting. We spoke to the owner and decided to "take a chance."
The owner, George, told us that Captiva was where we wanted to be and that Sunset Captiva was the place to stay. Of course, what would you expect him to say? But we learned that first year that he was absolutely right! The community of Sunset Captiva is wonderful ... and it is the place you want to be. Everything is so easy and convenient. Once there, you can leave your car and walk to everything you need - pool, beach, stores, food, restaurants. The grounds are so well kept and everyone we meet there is always so wonderful. The pool is always clean - and really never crowded. The beach is just beautiful, and also never crowded.
If you have children - it is also great. There are always families with kids. By the end of the week, we always feel as though we know so many people.
George and Diane maintain the home well, and are regularly updating and improving it. In 2003, we arrived to find new carpeting and new furniture in the den and living room. The year before it was opening up and modernizing the kitchen (very well supplied for cooking), as well as remodeling the bathrooms. The screened porch is great - our son always enjoys being out there and it's great for him to feel like he's outside. This year I suggested to George that they might get some new porch furniture, and I won't be surprised if it's been done when we arrive next year.
This year, I took advantage of the sundeck off the master bedroom while my younger son napped. It was delightful, complete with the sounds of (good) music from a nearby restaurant - I felt like I was far away.
It seems that everyone who stays there keeps things clean and takes good care of the house, which is very nice. If you do go - enjoy - and please continue to respect the house - we plan to keep coming back for years, and don't want to have to look anywhere else!

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit last summer. Everyone had a relaxing time, your house was an ideal hang out place. Very convenient location.

We enjoyed ourselves. We do love Captiva! We had another couple down with us who had never been to the island before. They were overwhelmed by its charm. The house had a nice floorplan. Normally we bring our 3 sons along and the sleeping arrangements would fit our family nicely, without even using the sleeper sofa in the den. Thanks your for having us as renters, and yes, we would recommend this home to friends or relatives.
