Everything was perfect about this trip. A lot of rest, hiking, eating, and quiet. We loved the house with the beautiful decks, well stocked kitchen, comfy bed, cozy living room and it was pet friendly so our golden could be part of the adventure. Beverley was a gracious and kind host. We will definitely return!

Great cabin in the woods with a perfect nearby little lake with a beach for swimming.

My family and I stayed at the cabin for 4 days during my daughter's winter break. It had everything we needed to manage the little ones, cook, relax, and have fun.
There are many forest roads about 100 yards away for a morning hike. The local grocery was very close and convenient.
The space is nice for a family with little ones. There was a creek running behind the cabin that the kids enjoyed walking down and there was a private lake with a playground that we got to explore.

We very much enjoyed our stay at the cabin in the woods. It was nice to be somewhere where we could unplug and relax and enjoy each other's company and get away from the noise of city life. Having a full kitchen that was stocked with all the tools we needed to prepare meals was so nice. It allowed us the freedom to stay in since we were traveling with a dog.
I will say if you are an AT&T customer you will lose cell service but the cabin wifi is fantastic and you can always connect up for updates. Verizon service works fine in the area. We know this because our personal phones are AT&T and my husband's work phone is Verizon.
We enjoyed hiking the Arnold Rim Trail and at Calaveras Big Trees State Park and walking to the lake. The wood stove made the cabin cozy in the evening. Fantastic stay, five stars all around. :)

My husband, my 12 year old son, and I had a great weekend. The house was spacious, clean, perfect for the 3 of us and our dog. The kitchen was well stocked and we ate breakfast and lunch at the house. It was amazing to walk out the door and enter the Arnold Rim Trail in less than 5 minutes. We hiked to Top of the World and Manual Peak. We visited the Sierra Nevada Logging Museum, Mercer Caverns, White Pines Lake, mini golf in Murphys…all within 15-20 mins of the house. We tried several great restaurants (Alchemy, Waterhole) in Murphys. We grabbed pie from Red Apple (fruit and dessert stand on highway 4 about 5 mins from house) but we did have to wait in line for 30 minutes…worth it! Lastly, Arnold and the surrounding areas were the most dog friendly places we’ve ever visited. Our dog was welcomed to every restaurant and even the logging museum. The only place he couldn’t come was Mercer Caverns. We made some great memories and we will be back!

Me, my wife, and our two dogs desperately needed to get out of LA and do nothing for a weekend, One of my dogs LOVES to swim, so we searched for properties with lake access and this property caught my eye. I grew up not far from Arnold and remember how nice it is among the trees with a lake nearby.
We couldn't have asked for anything better--the weather was glorious, the cabin is neat and comfortable with good mattresses situated in a friendly little subdivision and, best of all, Arnold has abysmal internet and cell service so we were cut off.
That left us with very few choices but to sit on the deck under shady conifers, listen to the blue jays, and take our dogs to the idyllic, private alpine lake (an easy 1-mile walk from the cabin).
At the lake we met many friendly, nice people. The kids there were having a GREAT time swimming and fishing and skinning their knees. Our dog swam his heart out and we never met an unfriendly dog or neighbor.
We took a short trip to visit the Big Trees one afternoon where I hadn't been since I was a kid -- for a $10 vehicle admission fee, it's absolutely worth it. I am informed that Arnold has some good restaurants, but the cabin has a decent kitchen and gas grill, so we ate in and enjoyed the quiet and solitude.
Both nights we could hear some neighbors playing music past sundown and I was tempted to go find them because it sounded like they were having a good time.

We had an amazing weekend in Arnold! Beverly was so easy to work with! She went above and beyond to make sure we had everything we needed! She even helped us change our trip dates effortlessly when our original plans changed.
The house itself is darling. We were cozy and happy. Lots of trees around the property and a beautiful lake nearby. It was also a short drive into town and the Calaveras Big Trees State Park. We would definitely like to return sometime!

We had two nights stay at this cute house. It's quiet and relaxing being surrounded by redwood trees. We really enjoyed the wood burning during the cool weather. However, it's unpleasant to get flea bites for three of us. I emailed this information to the owner but didn't hear anything back. I had to give our dog a bath as soon as we got home to avoid bringing fleas home. We were also advised to bring our bath towels to the property; I am still puzzled by this request. It just doesn't make sense. Why not bring bed sheets too? We had to take out all the garbage and sheets out before we leave. We also had to wash our own dishes because there was no dish washer. It just didn't feel like a vacation with so much we had to do before departure.

We had the most excellent time in the little cabin! We vacationed after a very hectic time in our lives - finished our youngest daughter's wedding and after having been attacked by a dog - so it was much needed. We literally just hiked, cooked, read and watched movies. Jut what the doctor ordered. Could have stayed forever!

This home was so hard to leave! My wife and I stayed here to celebrate our anniversary. When we weren’t relaxing on this beautiful property, we spent time skiing, wine tasting, hiking, and playing disc golf in the surrounding communities. Such a fun area to visit and this is a great place to stay.

This cabin is in an idyllic setting surrounded by pine trees and a short walk to a lake. A brook runs through the property. The cabin is extremely well maintained. The place was spotless when we arrived. We ended up cooking more than we usually do and had no issues finding the cooking utensils we needed. The cabin is also a 3-5 minute drive from Arnold's largest grocery store, Big Trees Super Market, and other stores. It's also about 30-40 minute drive to Bear Valley Ski Resort and about a 20 minute drive to Calaveras Big Trees State Park. My kids loved the cabin and the whole experience--so much so that my youngest one cried when it was time to leave. The cabin is pet friendly and our Siberian Husky loved the cabin and her first experience in the snow. Beverley is a great host and made our stay super enjoyable. Whenever I had a question, she would get back to me right away. It was by far my best experience I've had with a cabin rental.

We love we were able to bring our fur babies with us! The house was so clean and bright and the outdoor space so nice for relaxing. I took my mother and grandmother in law with us for their birthdays and they had an amazing time. We walked the dogs around the neighborhood and enjoyed the quiet and the mountain air. We would definitely come back and stay again!!

We were very happy with this VRBO.It is clean, has comfortable beds and a well stocked kitchen. Just remember to bring your towels! We forgot ours but picked some up at the local thrift store. We loved kayaking on the lake and visiting Big Trees. Great place to relax.

This is the second time we’ve stayed here. Beverly is fantastic at communicating with and her place is well appointed. The decor is simple and cozy. The amenities with Tanner Lake as part of the rental we’re superior. We had all we needed to have fun and relax.
8.0 / 10.0
The place is beautiful, but we did not know that there would be so many stairs. We brought our old dog and the stairs were a nightmare for her (and us). Just for her to go potty outside was a whole shoes-on adventure, as we had to find ways around all the stairs.
There is a picture of a dog on a beach with no leash in the listing. And, to be honest, this was really the main reason we booked this place. However, dogs are not allowed at the private lake or any other place in the area (we looked a lot of places) So swimming was out.
We understand that none of this is really the owner's fault, but it just was not what we had expected. The house was in a wonderful location. The area has become very very crowded but I suppose that is everywhere nowadays.
This listing is amazing, but I wouldn't bring any "seniors" here; dogs or people.
