Large home with plenty of room for my big family. Unfortunate that the river was so high so we couldn't rent a pontoon. Driveway was super steep so beware if you have a new driver. The host was warm and friendly. It was a hot weekend but all the rooms in the house were nice and cool. Close location to town which was very helpful. Beach area unavailable due to the river but we still fished and caught several catfish. A very nice home and we had a lovely family get together with my eight kids and three grandkids. The pool in the yard was a life saver for the smaller family members in our group.

We had plenty of space for family members to sleep and great dining space plus great basement games for kids to play. But there are some things you need to know: pictures of property showed a sandy beach but there is no beach area due to a retaining wall expanding the property at the river. The current is too strong to let children play in the river. We rented a pontoon boat from a company recommended by the owners but that company was 1.5 hours away and had no idea that the pontoon boat would not fit under the bridge that was between the boat launch and our rental property so we could not have a pontoon boat for our vacation. Also, no bedroom dressers, no closet in the main bedroom so storage was an issue for our week's stay. Be aware that the second floor bathroom is located between two bedrooms and is not accessible to the other bedrooms on that floor. The hosts were very friendly and helpful and quick to respond to questions.

This house is NOT as described. Pictures need updating as things look more worn and not as pretty in person.
CLEANLINESS: listing states the home is professionally cleaned; large toenail was found in kitchen and dirty bedding one beds. We spent hours washing the bedding, vacuuming, cleaning, disinfecting.
COMFORT: Beds upstairs sunk in the middle/were uncomfortable, mattress covers thin/torn. One mattress was sitting on the floor. Some pillows had yellow stains. Air conditioner upstairs did not cool making it hard to sleep.
SAFETY: Overloaded outlets and an extension cord hanging to connect the microwave to an outlet. Damp basement/possible mold in the shower down there. Baby cribs have worn mattresses.
BROKEN ITEMS: Main bathroom had broken toilet seat and leaky faucet. Upstairs toilet ran for an extended period after flushing. Stove/oven did not work.
COMMUNICATION: I checked with the host week before arriving to see if the beach was usable due to rain/flooding, the host told me that they do not flood there. The beach was underwater; I would have appreciated an honest answer.
OVERALL: Outdoor toys are dirty; life vests should be replaced. Hostas were trimmed, thrown in a pile in landscaping. Not much of an arcade. The host did reply to our list of problems and said some things were fixed after we left, but home should be checked over before each stay. We were refunded a small amount, but it was not acceptable. For the price per night, there are many better options.

Our entire stay was glorious. The owners were extremely responsive when we had an issue. The pool was set up and ready for us to use. The playground for the kids was perfect. This house made a family reunion possible - we hadn’t all been together in 20ish years :) A few complaints would be: no sharp knives in the kitchen, fly traps are needed(I ordered some from amazon and it solved the problem), the wifi info we are emailed is different than what is posted in the house, very old basic spices etc in the kitchen and the outside patio could use some cleaning out(broken toys, old boxes, a bucket of water). Overall, you want to stay here!

Our extended family stayed with 8 adults and 3 kids. We found the house to be perfect for what we needed. The kitchen was stocked with just about everything you could think of and the two large dining tables were much appreciated. There were more than enough beds for everyone to find a place they liked. We used the BBQ grill, the pool, playground, canoe, backyard games, you name it! There was bug spray and sunscreen available. The kids enjoyed the selection of board and card games. Overall, this place had so many comforts of home, that we had a pretty happy and peaceful stay!

This property was exactly what you want out of a large family weekend getaway. Plenty of beds across the 6 bedrooms, a large stocked kitchen, 2 massive dining tables so everyone can eat together, and a huge yard to enjoy games of all types.
The provided canoe & rowboat were a great complement to some of the PWC our group brought with to enjoy the waterfront. The river was very high for the weekend so the sandy shoreline was unusable but the dock is floating so functional no matter conditions when you come.
Close enough to Edgerton for a grocery run or heading over to the lake, but far enough away and the property is so large, you forget there are even neighbors.Nights are quiet and the provided firepit area got used multiple times.
10/10 experience, will rent again if visiting the area in future years.

Pros:

1) While the listing says 2x about a beach, and sandy beach, there is no beach due to water levels (not the hosts fault, but that makes the listing inaccurate)
2) The river is not for swimming (the hosts clearly do not say swimming in their house description for that reason). The current is too strong and you'll float down, and struggle to get to a nearby pier. Not safe and scary for kids. (You can tube down the river, and a 10-min drive to pick you up, though)
So, if you have kids 6 and under, and are fine with the pool in the backyard, it's fantastic. For us though, with more kids between 6-12, being on a river with no swimming available there, that was a bit disappointing and not super easy to ascertain from the house description. Just about setting expectations.

Our stay at this VRBO rental was nothing short of magical! The property was perfect for our large group of 14 women. There was plenty of space for all of us to visit together and lots of spaces for small group visiting as well. There were a lot of amenities, games, books, yard games. We had a nice fire one night. We were here in early November but I could see it being an excellent place for large family gatherings in the summer when you could use the boats and beach area more.
It was a great place for us to do some great shopping and crafting. We really enjoyed the nearby winery and several really great restaurants,too!

The house, furnishings, entertainment equipment and kitchen were very nice. We had a family reunion of 12 people and all slept well. Spent one day in Madison 1/2 hour away for football game. I perhaps misread the listing because I thought there was one price regardless of the number of people. However when I increased from 10 to 12 there was an additional charge. In any case the house was well worth the money. The location and setting of the house are beautiful. Local dining is limited but good if you wish a break from home cooking every night.

Fantastic stay! The property had a beautiful view of the river and a nice backyard to enjoy, along with many amenities. We cooked all our meals and the kitchen was perfectly stocked, met all our needs. Also nice big tables for all of us to hang out and eat together. It's very nice there's bathrooms on each floor (along with showers). Everything was clean and easy to use. Communication with hosts was fantastic too. Truly would return in a heartbeat!

What an absolutely wonderful place to stay. We had our son’s rehearsal picnic here and it couldnt have been better. The home has all the amenities listed and then some including extra trash bags. Talking with the owners was super easy and responsiveness was amazing as well!!! Best ever

We had a great experience staying in this home! Beautiful view on the water. Home was filled with amenities for the youngest of our group (6 months) and everyone else as well! AC in the home worked SOOOO well !! kitchen was fully equipped, rooms had everything we need as well as the bathrooms. it even had spare toothbrushes for us . warning the driveway is a little steep for anyone that is inexperienced as a driver. local stores were a short drive away, local farmers market had great goodies

Our group of 12 adults and 2 kids enjoyed this cozy property with spectacular views of the water. We particularly loved the outdoor space with boats, playground, and fire pit. Cell service in the area was poor for most of us, but the Wi-Fi was fantastic. The home is well equipped and had many thoughtful touches that made if feel like we were staying with friends or family. Hosts were lovely and quick to respond.

Our entire family (7 adults, 6 children) spent a week at this waterfront beach house.
The home was very clean & welcoming with plenty of space for everyone. We had areas for all of us to be together as well as personal space.
The children enjoyed the large outdoor space and the adults appreciated all the time they spent playing both in the pool & on the playground.
We rented a pontoon boat to take excursions to Lake Koshkonong where we all were entertained tubing and swimming everyday.

Cabin is lovely, very clean, spacious, great location and was perfect for our family. LOTS sleeping space/options which was helpful with little kids. Great porch and kitchen. Fun and clean basement with air hockey and ping pong, 2 washers/dryers. Huge yard with climber and swings, kids pool. Kids had a great time dock fishing despite not getting a single nibble 😃. Strong internet and owners were very responsive to questions. We will come back!

We loved the outdoor area! The playground, pool, fire pit, dock, porch and yard! The kids could run around the large yard while the adults played bean bags. The pool was nice. There was enough space inside and on the porch. We also really like the open concept and view from inside out to the dock and river.

We loved the lake- sand bars, waterfront restaurants with live music, not overcrowded on the lake even on the 4th of July. River in the backyard is like glass- great for learning to water ski. We stayed here as a group of 3 families with 6 kids ages 4 -14 and one dog. It was the perfect place for us to entertain a large group with a variety of needs. There are several bedrooms, each with different configurations for us to best meet each family's sleeping arrangements. Lots of kid friendly features - toys, board games, ping pong, air hockey, yard games, and more. We ventured out on the water a bit and to some local parks, but honestly our crew had a blast just hanging at the house! The kitchen and dining area was big and open, and had everything we needed. The owners were very kind and responsive with our questions leading up to the visit and while we were there. Pay attention to the room layouts as others have mentioned to make sure it will work for your party (you walk thru a bedroom to reach the 2nd floor bathroom; basement beds are in an open room). But these were not issues at all for us. The first floor bathroom is a short walk from the first two bedrooms on the 2nd floor. Would definitely recommend this home if you need a gathering space for multiple families with kids!

This was place was wonderful for our 3 families with little children! It fit us very comfortably with toys, cribs, booster seats etc. we were able to spend almost all of our time at the house between the sandy beach, swing set, baby pool, fire pit. The surrounding area is very peaceful and would definitely return back!

Perfect place to chillax - watch wild/bird life on the river - take the canoe out - fish off the pier (no luck though) - fire up the grill, charcoal or gas, take your pick - perhaps best part was firepit w/ loads of firewood. Perfect place for both adults and kids. Thank you!

This place is wonderful. A great size for an extended family get together. Great kitchen space and 2 tables that easily fit everyone. Space is very clean. Multiple washers/dryers and detergent. Only 1 bathtub (relevant if you have young kids) on the first floor. The river is so quiet and peaceful. Great firepit area and space for kids to run around and explore in the backyard/beach area. We will definitely be back!
Not a complaint, just a note for planning purposes:
You have to walk through the second floor queen bedroom to get to the second floor king bedroom. King bedroom has no separate entrance. Also basement bedroom has no door, it is open to the first floor via the stairs.

The property was beautiful. Big enough to hold all 18 of us and not feel cramped. We enjoyed the view, playing games even learned a few new ones. We stayed during the last weekend in January 2023 for a guys weekend ahead of my brother's wedding. The house was perfect. Everyone had their own room and there were plenty of beds if a few more guys were able to make it. The kitchen and living room (one big open space) and the basement were great hangout spots. The view of the river was beautiful and it would be a great summertime destination. The hosts were responsive to our questions and would recommend the house for families (so many kid-friendly things were available) and other groups. The house is close to Janesville and also Madison, which opens up a lot of things to do during your stay.

Hosts seem friendly, mentioned possibly having a day early complimentary but never brought it up again. Then mentioned an additional complementary extra night after the required checkout time. We were already checked out because we followed checkout time rules. Then got a message we could have a complimentary night. Don’t think they ever intended on giving us an extra night free. We stayed here over Thanksgiving to celebrate with our UW Madison student. The house was very peaceful and comfortable for us all with a beautiful view of the river. The open concept with a well equipped kitchen to handle the whole group was great. Accessible to Madison but far enough away that my student felt like they had a nice break from school.

Great stay for our family reunion/weekend stay. House was nicely stocked, comfortable beds, two tables for kids to play at and separate for adults to eat at. Thank you, Elyse and Jim, for hosting us in your amazing home on the river. The beautiful art and the cabin feeling was so warm and welcoming, and it was a perfect size for our nine-person stay. The two big tables allowed us to have dinners and even a wine tasting from our cousins who’d recently been to France! The fall colors, outside, were just as inviting as the inside and we had a great time roasting smores over a campfire. The canoe was a bonus, and it was used multiple times (when the rowing teams weren’t passing by… how fun to see them). The proximity to Madison was just right and only took us about 40 minutes to get anywhere we wanted, and yet be back at night in a big home that you just can’t find near campus.
Thank you, also, for all your great communication with my husband and me. It’s obvious that you love it when people are taken care of, because you did a great job of that with us and our family. We all had such a wonderful time! We loved fishing and having smores around the campfire! So much to do outside with all the fun yard games for kids and adults! The kids enjoyed the swing set and and playhouse too! The kids loved the games and toys inside and no one could get enough of the fooseball table, ping pong and air hockey! The kitchen was stocked and there was plenty of space for all of us! We all had a fabulous and memorable time! Thank you!
