Walk to the Bay, downtown and Embarcadero. You will enjoy this perfect escape in our totally updated coastal cottage. Nestled in the quiet, historic Morro Heights you can escape from the hustle bustle of city life. You’ll hear very little traffic or neighborhood noise because you are tucked away behind our main house in the secluded setting of Morro Heights. The drought tolerant yard offers ample seating for your early morning coffee or evening Happy Hour. Fresh herbs & veggies are planted near the walkways to add to your meals.
Inside you’ll quickly see the fresh and totally updated home. It is so incredibly cute, clean and well-decorated in shabby-chic/coastal décor. Both bedrooms are comfortable and cozy. Master has a Queen bed, master bath/shower and 2nd bedroom has a double bed. 1/2 bath in hallway off LR. Huge closets in each to store clothes and gear. The comfy living room is inviting to kick back, open up the windows and feel the breeze. There’s a nice shower/tub with great water pressure. We offer verified high speed internet, Roku TV with cable, plenty of books and games if you choose to stay in. The fully equipped new kitchen has granite counters and appliances.
You can pretty much take off on foot anytime day or evenings from 'The Cottage'. We are on the ‘water’ side of Hwy 1, so easy access to all. Groceries, library, downtown, Farmers Market, Top Dog or Scout Coffee are all just a few blocks. Get your retail therapy taken care of too!
Daytime, enjoy boogie boarding or surfing North of the Rock, taking Paddle Board or sailing lessons in the bay, watching marine life and don’t miss the otters! When you’re finished head up to our favorite spot, Dockside Too, on the fishing docks for all types of fish, wine or beer and live music every day.
Evenings, stroll 7 blocks to the Embarcadero for Happy Hour fish tacos at Dutchman's, or take a dinner cruise.
Visit the natural bird sanctuary, the natural history museum and Morro Bay Natural estuary and go birding. Take a stroll; hike Black Hill, Morro Dunes trails or Montana de Oro.
Check out the new pedestrian bike bridge that will take you to the North end of Morro Bay or head on out to Morro Rock for a great morning walk. We offer plenty of space for your bikes, surfboards and gear plus a hot outdoor shower to rinse off the sand.
When it’s time to turn in, leave your windows open and listen to the surf, barking seals and foghorns – can’t beat that!

I moved out of CA in 2020, but my adult daughter still lives in the Bay Area. This was an opportunity for us to get together and spend time in an area that we both enjoy. I stayed in the Cottage with a friend several years ago, so I already knew it would suit our needs very well - and it did! The cottage is very comfortable, and well located in a quiet and walkable neighborhood. The property owners are very responsive, and I would not hesitate to recommend this property to others.

This was a great place to stay for my wife and I and our two best friends (all over 60). The walk to the embarcadero was leisurely. The walk back slightly uphill but we decided to cut back and forth between the blocks on the way up and discovered other parts of Morro Bay. The town had great views of the Rock, excellent restaurants and a fun evening show at the "Siren." Nice hikes in the area and visited Cayucos and Cambria one day. Nice excursion. Hope to return one day!

Accurate pictures and condition of cabin. Excellent communication, actually the best ever on VRBO. Friendly and more than pleasant hosts. Will return and tell our friends about this relaxing hidden gem.

Very nice property! Clean, well furnished, and accurately depicted in pictures and descriptions.
Easy walking distance from downtown, the Embarcadero and beaches.
Morro Bay, and the surrounding area have lots of hiking and other things to do which makes this an ideal location. The hosts were helpful and friendly.

Top place to stay in all categories: welcoming, bright, relaxing, walking distance to coffee, grocery, beach. Laid back town, easy access to other small beach towns. Dianne and Rich were gracious and kind, full of info and help. Weather even cooperated!

Three of us stayed in this cottage and it worked out really well. The host was able to accommodate a special need of mine, which was great.
Walking distance to downtown Morro Bay and the Embarcadero. It was a short drive to San Luis Obispo and Cayucos for additional adventuring. We watched the sunset from Morro Strand Beach. A very pleasant weekend.

We had such a lovely time in Dianne and Rich's Cottage. Downtown Morro Bay is just a few blocks away and it was a great jumping off point for our explorations up and down the coast.
The cottage was very clean and has a wonderful kitchen, comfortable beds and was very quiet at night. Dianne and Rich had wonderful recommendations of places to explore and we definitely used the binder of recommendations in the cottage as well.

This place was in a great location and was a charming bungalow. My friend and I stayed the weekend and walked down to Morro Bay’s waterfront every day. The hosts were very accommodating, with everything you would ever need. I definitely recommend this place!

We really enjoyed our stay - the home was perfect with all the right touches. I especially loved that there was coffee with all the fixings and a few little snacks for us to nibble on. :) The location is an easy walking distance to downtown. I was a bit nervous backing into the driveway the first time, but once I got the hang of it, it was fine. The garden in front is beautiful and it was very quiet and peaceful. I was moving my daughter into Cal Poly for her freshman year - it was an easy 15 min drive to campus but nice to be a bit away from the craziness of downtown with the influx of families for freshman move-in.

This is our third time to stay at The Cottage, it was wonderful as it was the last two visits. The hosts are great, sharing information about what is going on in the area. They maintain the property beautifully and it is by far the cleanest vacation rental we've ever stay in.
We enjoy long walks, music, food and wine in the area. We stayed 31 days and that was not enough.
Planning on a return visit next summer.

You can trust the all inclusive photos and detailed description of the Cottage and its gardens. They really tell it all. But, if that's not enough - read the numerous reviews left by guests who were totally satisfied by their stay here in Morro Bay. You'd need to be unreasonably critical to find something lacking with the accommodations, the hosts, and the location. A really special place, hosted by special people, in a special area for exploring the outdoors. I hope to return again.

This is probably the best VRBO we have ever stayed at. There’s a beautiful garden right out front. The owner was super friendly and had posted all sorts of info on where to go and what to do. Inside it is decorated nicely and well taken care of. They even left little vases of fresh cut flowers for us! I’m seriously so impressed.

This was our first time staying at this location. We normally stay at another house but decided to try something different. This cottage was just right for me and my husband. It was very clean and just had everything that we needed. We will stay there again.

Rich and Dianne are wonderful hosts and their cottage is simply adorable! It is a great location for Morro Bay. You can easily walk to town (even with young children). The space is very comfortable with lots of natural light and you can even hear the sea lions with the windows open!!
We were in town for the half ironman and they generously offered alternative spaces for me to store my bike if I needed. They also were so very pleasant to chat with about the local area as well as their beautiful garden. My son even chatted with them asking about the different herbs and lettuce growing. They talked to my daughters about different flowers that were growing in their yard. Rich even mentioned we could pick fresh oregano for our pasta dinner the night before the race!
The communication between us the host was seamless. They were very responsive and quite helpful. When my sister decided to drive up last minute from Southern California, they were able to help us accommodate her with little notice.
The kitchen was well stocked with everything we needed to make our dinner. The bathrooms were also equally well stocked with extra towels in the cabinet in the bedroom. Each room had a fan (which we only used in the afternoon) because the temperature was pretty much perfect :) There were some toys/cards for our kids to play with. The couch had some blankets to snuggle up for a movie and such. Overall, just a really comfortable and inviting experience. Will definitely stay again in the future if we are back in town. Thank you for sharing your cottage with us!

Great location. Very quiet and loved having the extra bathroom. Cottage contained everything we could have needed. Beds couldn't have been more inviting and we felt very comfortable. Driveway has a steep downgrade that made backing up our truck very challenging, but we were offered an alternate parking spot in front of the hosts house.

Our second time staying at the Cottage. Owners are such nice people and their place is so comfortable and a short walk to all the shops and restaurants in Morro Bay.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay despite the variable weather. Very pleasant cottage to spend time in during showers and storm. We appreciated the special instructions for check in, check out, tv use.
And the little things such as real plants inside, and lovely garden. Thank you Rich and Dianne.

Cozy and comfortable. Well appointed kitchen, fun to cook in cottage. One bed too soft, one bed just right. Glad to have washer but a bit noisy. Very clean and beautiful garden. Morro Bay was a fun place to visit.

We came for the birding festival and this cottage was perfect: convenient and walkable to restaurants, comfortable, well-equipped, and quiet. The hosts were very good at informing us about the cottage's amenities and local attractions. We'd happily return.

The cottage was THE BEST! Clean, cozy and in a great location. I could walk to the Embarcadero and other shops and restaurants. Also walked to Morro Rock from the cottage. The hosts were very nice and gave me info on their favorite places. The garden between the hosts’ house and the cottage was a nice touch. Highly recommend this cottage.

The Cottage was a delightful place to stay and so close to the coast & Top Dog Coffee shop. The space was light and had all the things we needed. Loved the "14,000 things to be happy about" book and the "Get out and play" book. We utilized both. We would love to stay here again on the nextt trip. Thank you!!

The house was very well stocked with everything one could need. The attention to detail was everywhere. Diane and Rick were quick to solve any problems. Very nice overall.

Very cozy cottage just blocks from the Embarcadero. Loved the garden area right outside of the cottage.

We stayed at The Cottage for the month of August and it was as wonderful as it was last year. Diane & Rich are amazing hosts.
The online description is exactly as it is, quiet, great location and easy walking to town, the Embarcadero, the marina and “The Rock”.
This visit we discovered the amazing Buttercup Bakery, 3 Stacks and. Rock brewery and Stolo Winery in Cambria.
Long time favorites Dockside 2, The Galley and Staxx were great as always.
We plan to return!
