This property has amazing views of the ocean located up on the hillside away from the touristy areas, but still close enough to get to the beautiful beaches on the big island. House was fully stocked with everything needed and more. We enjoyed sitting out on the back patio in the mornings when it was cool. The house does get quite warm in the afternoons and evening we opened up all of the windows throughout the day and night to allow any breeze to come through to cool off, only recommendation might be air conditioning units in the bedrooms for those really warm nights. Overall, would recommend staying here felt like home, very comfortable.

Beautiful quiet home with fantastic ocean and sunset views!

We visit Big Island frequently and brought some friends with us for their first visit and a 50th birthday celebration. This place was perfect!

The location was great for beaches and parks. The ocean views were amazing. The house was clean and well equipped. The goats on the property were fun to observe. Thanks for a great stay.

After really combing through all the offerings on Hawaii Island, we settled on this one. What a gem! So clean! Such views! Private and conveniently located for day trips, long or short. We were far enough from the main action on the island, but close enough to see it all. It was the best VRBO stay we've had. The hosts were great. Communication was easy and results immediate. We woul certainly recommend this place, as well as stay there again. Mahalo nui loa!

We arrived late after a long and fretful travel day. From the moment we walked into this lovely house, we felt cared for and grateful. It has everything you need: a comfy bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a marvelous view, lounge chairs to watch the stars, shade all day because of the covered walk around deck, caring hosts, proximity to swimming and snorkeling beaches and towns to visit. My husband and I highly recommend this rental. We were happy for every minute we spent there.

We had a great time spending our nights on the deck overlooking the ocean. Lots of fun!

This is a beautiful property, very quiet, great view, very nice owners. I liked everything about it except for the bugs (so plentiful, including wasps which I found inside) and the lack of air conditioning, it really is just too hot to rely on fans. The geckos were okay with me, but they do poop everywhere and that would have been good to know ahead of time.

Had a great visit to the Big Island and staying at this property made it all that much more enjoyable. Location is convenient for traveling to all parts of the island to see the many sights the island offets. Views and amenities were all as represented in the listing. I definitely would recommend staying here and if I do return again next year to Kona, I would stay here again.

We spent 6 days in the house, and it was wonderful!
We love the location, the quiet neighborhood and the house itself.
Lisa and Simon are very friendly and caring people. We definitely be back!

This is an amazing house in a very convenient spot on the Kohala Coast. It is just a short drive to many great beaches and fun places to explore. At the end of the day get to retreat well stocked, classic Hawaiian style home with a 360 degree porch and views in every direction. Great place to watch the sun sink in to the Pacific and the stars some out. Hosts are great. They are there if you need them but give you total privacy otherwise. Highly recommend.

Such a spectacular place. The bird song, lanai, view of the ocean and the peaceful, spaciousness of the home make it a wonderful place to stay.

My family and I had a wonderful stay at this home. The views were stunning and the setting was charming. The property was clean and well looked after, the rooms were spacious and the beds were comfortable. The location was perfect for exploring, snorkeling and beach going. The rural setting was away from the tourist area and the sounds of birds were amazing to listen to on the beautiful lani. The owners responded quickly to any requests and gave us lots of good local recommendations. The goats were adorable, and the owner alowed us to feed them. We would love to stay here again.

Mom and I had a great day for the week. It was close enough to do things yet comfortable to do nothing and sit on the lanai.

We enjoyed our experience at the rental. The owner was extremely friendly and available. The views from the veranda were exceptional. Would highly recommend this rental.

A perfectly relaxing stay. Very comfortable home. If you want a beautiful place with stunning ocean views and trade winds, stay here. We had a wonderful time.

We had the best time staying here. Amazing views of all of the mountains & amazing ocean views too and the stars at night! Super clean. Had everything we needed. Super quiet. Bed was comfy. Perfect for 1 or 2 couples or a family of 3 or 4. The lanai was our favorite place- had some nice meals and a couple naps. Location felt remote but not far from beaches, resort area and Waimea & Hawi towns not too far. I do recommend grocery shopping before you get there, as the grocery stores in Kona will have everything you need and are a little far once you are there. Would stay here again.

We really enjoyed our stay at this great hidden gem. We’ve stayed all over the island and we’re very impressed with this place. The location is remote but wonderful It’s so peaceful and the views are amazing. We will definitely come back again!

We wanted to get away and just be together. A busy family with teens, escaping to Hawaii. We enjoy being outdoors and wanted a place that would be a comfortable home base for seeing everything the Big Island has to offer! This fit the bill! The house and views are perfect. So much so, a couple of evenings we headed back early to just relax and enjoy the peace and quiet. The goats are super friendly and the beds are very comfortable. No issues, whatsoever!! Thank you for sharing this space with us!! Oh, and we all enjoyed the geckos!!

This property was definitely one of the more unique places I’ve stayed at. Loved being away from the craziness of the tourist areas, while still being decently close to Kona. Was worried about not having AC but when we were there, having the windows open and the fans on made staying and sleeping there a comfortable experience even on 70-80° days. I was hoping for a little more solidarity from the property, but experienced construction noise from the next door neighbors as well as big construction equipment from the view of the deck towards the ocean. This is probably temporary and might not affect others, but was worth noting. Otherwise it was a great place to stay with lots of room and nice spaces to relax on the deck or in the house. Oh and the goats were a great little addition to go out and say hi to!

We picked this property for the views and they did not disappoint! Stars and planets like we've never been able to see before in the early morning hours, and breathtaking sunsets each night. Easy access to kid-friendly beach parks, the Pololu Valley Lookout, and the ruins of an old fishing village. We enjoyed feeding the goats a few snacks, and we had a delicious meal for ourselves from Kohala Burger and Taco just down the hill, as well as a return trip for some shaved ice and ice cream another day. The best part - lounging on the deck with a cool breeze!

We stayed for 6 weeks at the end of 2021 and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Lisa and Symon's place. The house was clean and well equipped to meet our needs. There's plenty to do nearby, but our favorite activity was sitting out on the deck watching the cargo boats come in every morning, the whales playing in the afternoon surf and the marvelous sunsets in the evening. Symon came by most days to feed the goats and check to make sure if we needed anything. Five stars!

Beautiful sunsets, quiet neighborhood, lovely setting and house. The hosts were very helpful with any questions we had. We had a great time.

Kohala Estates is a favorite vacation rental area for us and this property did not disappoint! The view is completely open to the coast as the elevation and open land below eliminates any structures in the way.
The outdoor deck is more than spacious enough for sunset viewing, grilling, kicking back, and visiting. The goat herd (of 3) provides twice daily entertainment at the feeding boxes.
The house is perfect for one or two couples, or a small family. Everything that you need to begin your stay is provided. The communications from Symon and Lisa were the quickest we’ve ever experienced from 15+ years of rentals. And we had the additional pleasure of visiting with Symon in person during goat feeding. Enjoying his company made us wish that we could have also met Lisa. They are doing a great job of hosting their guests.
The wraparound deck provides seating on two sides so that both the sunrises and sunsets can be fully enjoyed.
We were completely comfortable and felt right at home during our stay. We would rent this home again in a heartbeat.
Thank you Symon and Lisa for providing the basis for a wonderful two weeks!

Sunrise from the kitchen, sunset from the deck. And the quiet! Perfect.

We were in desperate need of a quiet getaway to clear our minds and charge our batteries. This was perfect. The house is set up on the hill a few miles from Kawaihae, open and airy, with a fantastic view of the ocean and sunset. The sunsets! Incredible. There is a wonderful lanai out back with the best views of both the ocean and sunset. We often did our morning exercises out there; honestly we spent the majority of our time there. The wraparound deck was great for doing hourly laps to keep the Fitbit happy. The south side had beautiful views to the mountains and Waikoloa. Not as tantalizing as the view of the ocean and sunset, but a great view nonetheless. The house itself had everything needed for a long stay (we were there for a month). Plenty of supplies in the kitchen and linens to spare. Oh! And a great grill on the lanai; that's where we cooked the majority of our meals. Lisa and Symon were great hosts. We had an almost daily chat with Symon as he came to feed the goats. When we go to Hawaii again, this will be our "go to" spot. No need for us to look further! Thank you Lisa and Symon!
