Upper level: Loft with two twins
Looking for a Valle Crucis riverfront cabin that is peaceful yet still convenient to everything? Welcome to Bridgepoint Cabin, located right on the Watauga River. Whether you want to step off your porch for fishing and wading, or just rock away the hours while listening to the river roll by, this family vacation rental is for you! The convenient single-level living and flat yard are a plus for families with young children and grandparents alike. Best of all, you are still just five minutes from historic downtown Boone and within a few more minutes of Blowing Rock, Banner Elk, the Blue Ridge Parkway and Grandfather Mountain.
As you approach the cabin across the wooden bridge, look to your left and you are likely to see someone taking advantage of the great trout fishing in this section of the river. A glance to the right and you may see one of the grey herons that frequent this stretch – they are fishing too!
No need to give up your river view when going inside – the open living area overlooks the river. On chilly days, enjoy a fire in the custom gas fireplace while relaxing in the comfortable furnishings, or enjoy a movie on the flat screen television. The open kitchen with tiled counters and backsplash makes meal preparation a snap so you can get back outside for more High Country adventures.
Just off the main living area are two wood-paneled bedrooms. The master has a king bed and television in case you like to wake up with the news or weather. The second bedroom has a lovely wood and scrollwork queen bed. For the extra guest there is also a sleeper sofa in the living room.
In the mornings, we recommend stepping out through the French doors to the covered porch with your coffee and settling in on the porch swing while you watch the mist rise off the river. After breakfast, head just a couple miles down the road and visit the original Mast General Store. After that, why not stop in at the little deli and pick up some sandwiches or a slice of one of their great desserts, then pull in at the popular Valle Crucis Park for a picnic. After lunch, the family can choose their activity – enjoy a stroll or bike ride on the paved paths, let the kids play on the swings, or take advantage of another fishing opportunity – the park offers both river access and a stocked pond for the kids to try, unless they prefer trying to catch one of the large bullfrogs! Summer evenings often offer live Music in the Valle there at the park for a little foot-tapping fun.
That evening, back at Bridgepoint Cabin, walk across the yard to the river and enjoy! Feet sore from all the day's exploring? Just have a seat on the riverbank and soak them in the cool water. There is a shallow section flowing across the rocks where the kids can play, or cast a line into the deeper sections and see if you can catch dinner. There's nothing like firing up the grill for the evening catch.
If you plan to catch an Appalachian State University Mountaineers football game – that's right, the ones who were on the cover of Sports Illustrated – or head over to Blowing Rock for Art in the Park or a visit to Tweetsie Railroad, or to the slopes at Appalachian Ski Mountain, Sugar Mountain or tubing at Hawksnest, this cabin provides a great starting point. It is just a short drive to most area attractions and events.

loved the property. beautiful peaceful and pet friendly.

The property was in a great location. It is busy on the bridge as it’s a well traveled road but it would not stop me from coming back. Lots of fishing on the bridge but fun to watch. You can put a tube in and float down to the valle cruis park which was so fun! The hot tub was removed from the property but Blue Ridge Mountain rentals was amazing to work with and making things right on that end. I got numerous emails making sure we were all set with our stay and would deffinitely be back!
4.6
The cabin wasn’t as secluded as I expected. It was next to a road which made me a little nervous with my young child and small dog. They communicated that the hot tub was broken which was very disappointing because that was one requirement during my search. The chairs by the fire place were broken. Overall, the cabin was disappointing and run down.

Spent 3 relaxing nights in this cozy log cabin on the Watauga River near the Mast Farm inn.
Cabin was very comfortable and quiet… and convenient to all the things we wanted to do.

My husband and I booked this cabin for a long weekend. We’ve stayed in Boone/banner elk plenty of times and are very familiar with the area. We were looking forward to a relaxing weekend, especially spending time in the hot tub.
About 2 days before our trip we were notified that the hot tub would not be working. We were bummed but weren’t going to let it ruin our stay.
The house needs some serious TLC. It’s been rented for too long without any maintenance. The floor in the hallway feels like it’s going to collapse, broken tiles in the bathroom near the toilet, towels were paper thin, pillow cases were too small for pillows, 2 of the 4 chairs around the fire pit were broken. It was clear by the overall look of the house that the hot tub was probably not working for a long time and tbh if the hot tub was in working order I don’t think I would have gone in because of the lack of maintenance happening at this house. It’s also worth noting that this house does not have a smart tv, only cable.
The front yard faces a bridge that can only accommodate 1 vehicle at a time. It’s a very popular fishing spot so people are always around/on the edge of the property. It’s also a very busy road for a single lane bridge.
This house doesn’t have any charm, felt like we were slumming it. You can tell that no one put any love into decorating it. Stay somewhere else.

The cabin is in a very remote, peaceful setting... However there are restaurants in close proximity. This is a beautiful part of our country. We enjoyed Blowing Rock, Grandfather Mountain, and viewing Linville while we were here for a weekend.
4.6
House was cute and sweet and was the perfect space for 4 adults and 4 young kids. We were so grateful that the place came with a pack and play since we forgot one of ours. The view of the river and bridge is beautiful.
4.6
Cabin needs maintenance and the location of the property is deceiving from the pictures. Property is located at a busy corner for traffic and people fishing off the bridge located right outside the front door.
4.6
This location was perfect for the attractions we were interested in seeing. Loved the creek in front of the cabin ❤️
4.6
The cabin was wonderful! It was clean and well-stocked with essentials. The corner lot is right by a one lane bridge over the river. It’s a lovely view. Travelers with small children should note that the ladder to the loft is quite steep - there’s excellent handrails and tread on the steps, but little feet may falter. Also, the back yard drops steeply to the street and river, and not all cars drive slowly despite the narrow bridge. These are not critiques of the beautiful property, just useful notes for parents!

Nicely appointed yet close enough to town. Very peaceful and right next to the Wautauga River. Loved the atmosphere and quietude. Will stay again. Also we had the best weather this week seventies during the day and fifties at night.
4.6
This was a great place to stay and very relaxing. Access to the creek was a little different than expected but still had an amazing time.

We had a great trip! We have always loved that area so when we found this house it was perfect! It was close (half a mile) to our favorite park Valle Crucis Community park and Mast general store! Also Over yonder restaurant was good too. It had what we needed for our family. Fishing at the river in front of the house for my husband, pet friendly for our small doodle who loved it, my daughter loved the loft, and I loved the hot tub. We will definitely be back. Thank you for sharing your home for other families to make wonderful memories in the beautiful mountains:))

At first sight, the cabin itself was decent. However, there are several things that need maintenance. The flooring is rotting underneath the boards. It felt like we were going to fall through in the hallway. The kitchen counter has this little shelf that's about to fall off, so don't put anything on it. By the way, we had a family of 5 and they gave us 2 small kitchen garbage bags for the whole week, bring your own! If you are planning on cooking, maybe bring some larger pots and baking trays.
The deck had areas that were falling apart. The stairs on the back need replaced. Watch the first step from the top, it's slightly higher than a normal step and takes some getting used to. The bottom steps are missing screws and wobble quite a bit. The hot tub cover is old and torn up. The hot tub doesn't stay hot longer than about 30 minutes. The furniture on the porch was so uncomfortable.
There is NO privacy on this property. The cabin next door is very close and you can see them and hear their conversations. There is a bridge right outside of the cabin that is frequented by cars and pedestrian traffic, and I mean all day. People and families would come stand and fish and play on the banks directly behind the cabin.
Overall, we still had an okay time. The cabin is very close to attractions and stores so that's convenient. For spending as much as we did on this stay, we were sorely disappointed.

We enjoyed our stay, the cabin well equipped, front river view, wild live animals around (deers lol! so cute). A really great place to relax, spend time with family and be in contact with nature. Definetely a place to come back.
4.6
Wonderful. First time in a cabin. Very cozy. Very comfortable. Replaced the batteries in all of the remote controls for the tvs. Otherwise it was awesome!
4.6
The cabin was not well maintained. And/or cleaned very well.
4.6
The property listing is rather misleading, as it mentions a/c and heat. There is no central air conditioning, or heating. I couldn’t imagine going here during the summer. The a/c is wall units in each room. While we were there, 2 were in an error state and the one in the smallest bedroom was running. Unfortunately, we checked in when the weather was in the 70’s. It was very stuffy, I’m not sure if this is due to the location, the lack of air flow or the cabin hasn’t been visited in a while. I had to look up the part number to figure out how to use the units. They ran for about 4 hours after that, then went back into error mode.
As we looked around, the first thing that greeted us was a envelope from the cleaning crew. I’m use to those, that is not what bothered me. However this one had writing on it - “Cleaner gets $X from fee”. That is tasteless and confusing. There were several cobwebs around the living room and on the windows. There are small handprints from a child all over the tv. The overall look and feel is clean, however when you look into it, it’s not.
The location is nice and exactly as the pictures show. What they don’t show, is the bridge that cars drive on at all hours of the night. I understand cars need to get to places, but with the main bedroom right by the road… it’s rather hard to get a good nights sleep.
I would recommend this cabin when it is not too hot, or cold. As there is a quilt on each bed, with no further bedding.
A recommendation for future guests, you need to put the a/c instruction manual in the welcome book.
The welcome book is very helpful with things to do and places to see.
The living room furniture is very comfortable.
Overall the cabin as a whole is very nice. There are just a few issues that could be addressed.
4.6
Very nice cabin. While secluded, quite a bit of road traffic; which was surprising. We did not have a chance to use the hot tub; though it looked very nice. A little disappointed in the fireplace. It did not seem to work (gas - not wood fired). Pilot light was lit, but could not find any controls to turn it on / adjust the flame. There was a remote, but that did not operate.
4.6
Loved the view. Kitchen well stocked, furnished ok. Bathroom and kitchen faucets were loose and dripping. Stove was dirty. Hall floor was buckled and loose. Loved outside but sure needed pressure washing. A good cleaning would make the property more appealing.
4.6
We had a very relaxing week and enjoyed evenings in the hot tub. The cabin is centrally located to a number of places we visited including Valle Crucis, Boone, Blowing Rock, and Grandfather Mountain.
4.6
The bathrooms and kitchen were clean. The house has a lot of decorations so it was very dusty. The location is on the corner of a very busy street and cars are going way faster than they should. The main room is spacious but the second room with the queen is extremely small only fitting the bed. The bathroom is also extremely small in the Queen room. The shower is decent size but the toilet and sink are tiny. The other bathroom is spacious. Kitchen items necessary to cook many different things were all there. I wouldn’t recommend two families to stay. Maybe one family with a few children, some older kids because the loft upstairs has a very steep ladder to climb. Not a bad place to stay but the pictures made it seem more spacious than it actually was and you are right next door to someone else. You also have no privacy fishing or quiet as the cars flying by and constant city workers getting water in and out of the stream at the bridge, sometimes even putting green chemicals in it right where you are trying to fish. We called local office and were told it was feed and seed from local farms.
4.6
Overall we had a great stay in this cabin. The inside was clean and cozy and the beds were comfortable. The ladder to the loft is very steep which was fine for our teenagers but I wouldn’t put young kids up there.
There were a few maintenance things that didn’t bother us too much (ripped looking carpet between rooms where one floor was replaced and not the other, a few cracked bathroom tiles, no light on the side of the porch).
Our biggest complaint was the hot tub smelled a little off and looked a little murky and one of my kids ended up with a rash at the end of the week. It also was very difficult to control the temp. It would get too hot if left on when not in use then take hours to cool enough to use it. Also we paid $25 for a bundle of firewood and 2 fire starters. The wood was there but no fire starters. We actually had to make a late run to Walmart because we couldn’t get the fire to start.
Otherwise it is is a great location (about 20-25 min to almost all the of cute little towns in the area. The creek behind the house is pretty. There is also a really nice park less than a mile down the road with nice paved paths for walking and they have weekly concerts on the summer. We would definitely return, hopefully the hot tub would be repaired by then!

Cabin was comfy and clean. It was conveniently located to all the things we like to do in the area - Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, gem mining, Grandfather Vineyard, and more.
Next time I'll look for a cottage a little further away from the bridge where folks stop to fish. This cabin's front yard is a popular fishing spot/bridge, so we didn't have front porch / hot tub / camp fire/ chair-sitting privacy and quiet.

Family spring break trip to the mountains
First time going to mountain side of N.C. We loved it! Bridgepoint worked perfect for our family of 4. Everything we needed was there. Being right on the river was perfect, our boys 14 and 16 enjoyed fishing everyday. The hot tub was great and nice to have campfires at night. Lots to do if you love to be outdoors like my family. Great hikes, great mountain biking, zip lining, fishing and the Mast General a mile down the road is an added bonus to visit! Great location overall!

The house was perfect for us, close to App State and stores. We would stay again.
We enjoyed the house and loved that we were on the water.

This cabin was amazing! The location was perfect for everything! We were able to do all the hiking we wanted to - Grandfather Mountain, Linville Falls, Crab Orchard Falls and Otter Falls. We spent one day skiing at Sugar Mountain. The vineyards were great stops on the way home. The river right in the front yard made for a perfect relaxing day, we caught (and released) several rainbow trout. My son loved that! The cabin was so cozy and had everything we needed. Blue Ridge PM was great with contacting us to make sure everything was running smoothly and if we needed anything we had no trouble connecting with them through phone or email. Would definitely stay again this is a great place!

We loved our stay at Bridgepoint Cabin. The location felt off-the-beaten track, but was very convenient to Boone, snow tubing, and skiing. The cabin was a great layout for our family. Our two children, 6 and 11, enjoyed staying in the open loft; my youngest is a climber so we were comfortable with him going up and down the loft stairs, but they could be a bit precarious for younger guests. Downstairs there are two bedrooms and two baths and a great room with a super comfortable living area, a kitchen with everything we needed (we did bring our own electric griddle for pancakes - hint, hint), and a dining area. We really enjoyed the cabin motif! Unfortunately the hot tub was not working for our stay but we were informed of this ahead of time. Check-in and check-out procedures were very simple and organized. We would definitely consider this cabin for another getaway in the future!

Good location - close to Sugar Mtn for skiing and close to Boone/Blowing Rock. Cabin in prettily situated with a creek right across the street. The fireplace was delightful and I appreciated the labels on the light switches. Also, the driveway was very navigable - we've stayed in some places where the steepness can give you palpitations. We had horrible cell reception; calls dropping, people couldn't hear us. Wouldn't normally care but we had to call the rental office with questions and it was problematic. Not sure if it was a mountain thing or a Verizon thing.
