This traditional Maine cottage has been helping to make lasting memories for families since the 1800's. There is nothing better than unwinding to the peace and quiet, the sound of the ocean and the sunsets at this very special place.

This is one of those VRBO properties where the pictures and description do not do the house/location justice. This place is off the charts amazing--a classic ME summer house (incredible rustic charm) in one of the prettiest places in the state. From the porch, we saw a humpback whale breach within 20 minutes of arriving while Ospreys and Bald Eagles were flying around overhead.

Just what we needed to unwind and reconnect as a family. The weather didn't cooperate, but that did not stop us from having fun. Swimming, boating, hiking, rock climbing, crafting and puzzles...who could ask for more?!

Beautiful house in a beautiful location!

My family really enjoyed our stay here. The house is large and charming, and it was great for my kids to be able to walk for 1 minute and arrive at a sandy beach. Beautiful porch for enjoying meals with an ocean view. There are no boats or paddle boards available, but we rented a kayak and spent a lot of time paddling (even saw seals one day!). Only negative aspect was the copious mosquitoes (I heard it was an unusually bad summer for bugs). And make sure to bring all your own condiments (no salt, pepper, oil etc)

Amazing peaceful beach!
We absolutely loved our time at this cottage on the beach - the sounds and smells of the ocean, the solitude and peace, the comfortable beds and that PORCH. Just lovely.

Dry summer
The property is lovely. We had just a couple concerns. We were not informed until the last minute that water supply was an issue. With a group of 10 we were anxious all week about showering and toilet flushing. Running out of water was a huge concern. Related to water supply was the lack of a clothes washer. With all of our salty gear and 4 kids a washer would have been handy. The nearest laundry facility is about 30 min. away.
The deck and the views couldn't be better though.

Stunning spot. Amazing porch - one of Maine's best! I can't say enough positive comments about this cottage and its location. We hope to make it a yearly visit.

An amazing spot with history and beauty. How can you beat a huge cottage on your own private beach?
We had an amazing week in Maine. The home is filled with the owner’s family history, so you feel like you’re in a real authentic Maine cottage, though it’s large and spacious. You have your own private beach to watch the tide and even swim (though a bit chilly!) it was a great location for a get-away! Sunsets from the Wrap around porch were gorgeous, walks and hikes nearby excellent and the town of Bath is close and convenient. Lobster at Five Islands was close and succulent. An all around stellar vacation spot.

Incredibly beautiful location with private beach. Watch the tide roll in. Bring your kayak. Rustic but charming and comfortable house. Plenty of room. Would recommend it to all.

Loved the old Mainer house, it was an absolute classic on a beautiful piece of property. Access to the Beach is a good hike down and up stairs, so be prepared for that.

This house was a great place to get back in touch with our family. It invited us to shelve our phones, get out a puzzle, cook and eat together, play together and make some memories.

Family Vacation
We enjoyed our time immensely in this beautiful home! The views were beautiful! Bald Eagles, ospreys, cormorants, seagulls, fish jumping, sunsets, cool ocean breeze and pure relaxation! The bedrooms were comfortable, the living space was plenty big enough but we spent most of our time on the private beach and on the porch. The walk down to the beach is very easy too!
We will definitely return!

Beautiful location, absolutely gorgeous view from deck for sunrise coffee and sunset cocktails!
Overall, truly a 4.5. First and foremost ...simply one of the most beautiful views from a monster wrap around deck you’ll find on the coast. As well, it had all the amenities you’d need for steaming bugs (lobstah) and cooking for an army. This property loses the 1/2 point in rating for few reasons. 1) if you have elderly or handicap relatives / friends visiting ...the beach is a difficult, steep hike. They may not get their toes in the sand here. This should be mentioned...maybe it was, I may have missed. 2) As part of the rules, you’re required to handle your own trash....literally, as in, haul it to the dump yourself. I’m not sure about others, but for $3k+ a week I would think the owners could find someone to handle/haul. We’d have pay an extra $50 for sure! 3) If you’re a boater...it’s a tidal bay: meaning when the tide is up you’re good to go, when the tide is out, your anchored boat (no dock or mooring in the water) is sitting on the flats. Tides are about 8 or 9ft. Just thought this should be disclosed ....lot of folks out there like us that like to haul or rent boats for use. The tidal bay forced us to leave our boat in another location and drive to use it. 4) No television .....not that television is what vacations about, but we do like to catch up on our ball games (Go Sox/Pats!) while relaxing after long day. There was a small (like computer screen small) screen that played DVD’s. An upgrade would be recommended, particularly where for a couple hundred bucks you can get a heck of screen today.
Overall, great stay and thanks for sharing your property Carlisle’s. Truly a historic and wonderful slice of ME coast....

Listening to the waves and watching the sun go down from the most amazing porch
Beautiful old house with the most amazing porch overlooking the ocean. You never want to leave except maybe to walk down to the privat beach . Perfect house for a big family or sharing with friends.
Loved all the seating in the living room with enough lamps for reading.
