About this house rental
Welcome to Papa`s Paradise, a haven of peace and comfort as you vacation in the Finger Lakes! This lake home is located on the east side of Waneta Lake—a small lake within the Finger Lakes region—within 15 minutes of the village of Watkins Glen and 30 minutes from Corning. The quiet road to the house contributes to the tranquility of the setting, as well as the wildlife you may see from the house. Whether you have a group of two or ten, there`s plenty of room for you to vacation in comfort.
Inside the house you will find a roomy kitchen, with an eat-in island for four and a dining room that seats eight, there’s plenty of indoor seating at meals. If you still need more space, the attached, large deck provides great overflow space and allows you to enjoy the outdoors in comfort. The deck has outdoor dining furniture and chairs for seating/dining and is just feet away from the water. Sunsets are amazing from the deck and enjoying a glass of wine while sitting around the gas fire pit is a wonderful way to end the day.
If the weather doesn`t permit you to use the deck, take advantage of the great room in the middle of the house where you will find comfortable lounge space as well as a pool table. Also in the upstairs great room/bedroom, there is a flat-screen t.v. along with a DVD player which you can enjoy from the couch. So bring your favorite DVD`s for those rainy days--there is also a large collection of DVD`s at the house for you to enjoy as well.
Papa`s Paradise is a family home and has had many multi-generational memories made here. You`ll feel like you`ve taken a step back in time but with all the comforts you need.
The house has an open floor plan with the kitchen open to the dining area and living room. Several sets of patio doors lead to the deck from the dining room and living room and provide an amazing view of the lake. The living room has cathedral ceilings and an open stair case to the upstairs, as well as plenty of seating space and the pool table for a good game of pool--with a ping pong table top if you prefer. There is quite an extensive library of books throughout the house for reading on a rainy day, as well as many board games.
The main floor has an additional sitting room tucked away to one side of the house and just in back of this sitting area is a bedroom with a Queen bed and a full bath with shower and tub.
On the other end of the house, off of the main living room, is a large bedroom (the Primary bedroom) with a king-size bed and an attached full bath with walk-in shower.
Upstairs is a large bedroom/family room with a Queen-size bed and a King size bed. The large walk-in closet, which is connected to the bedroom, has been turned into a small bedroom of it's own and has a Double bed. There is an attached full bath with a shower off of the large upstairs bedroom. This bathroom can only be accessed by walking through the bedroom.
The clear view to the west, from the house and deck, gives you the perfect place to catch the sunset. Use the lawn chairs to relax and watch the lake as you prepare your supper on the deck grill. Two canoes and paddle boat are provided for you so that you can get around on this peaceful lake. You will have your own private dock for boating or swimming.
As a guest, you`ll find no lack of things to do around you. There are many places to hike in the nearby area, including Watkins Glen state park. There are many wineries/breweries around Keuka and Seneca Lake and Corning has a wonderful river walk and street of shops.

The house is spacious, many beds and space to hang out. The grandkids loved the ping pong/pool table. The rear is right on Lake Waneta. There are kayaks, canoe and paddle boat. The kitchen is very well stocked with utensils for all uses.

My husband, myself, and our four year old stayed for three nights in June. My parents and sister came to visit during the day. We enjoyed kayaking on the lake. Saw ospreys and beavers and water lilies. The lake house is perfect for a family gathering with plenty of space and a wonderful open family room with tv and ping ping table. Beautiful views of the lake from the family room and the deck.

This is a beautiful home on a lovely lakefront property. The pictures are exactly what you get. Though the house is easy more spacious than we were expecting. Would love to go back again.

We had 4 adults and 4 teenagers. The property was perfect for us! The teens loved having the upstairs area all for themselves.
The pool table that turns into a ping pong table got a lot of use. So fun to have something to do as a family.
The kitchen is well stocked. It had everything we needed.
Best part is the amazing deck and view of the lake. We spent the majority of our time there.
The paddle boat, canoe and kayaks got a lot of use.
Can’t wait to return

The house and location provided the prefect space for our family of 9 to celebration our mother/grandmother who passed away 6 months ago. House had everything we needed for cooking meals and enjoying the lake. We spent every night on the deck enjoying the sunsets. We would stay here again.

This was a wonderful home to celebrate my mom's 80th birthday. The house was beautiful and plenty of room for 5 adults and a 4 year old. The beds were all comfortable. Even though the 1 bedroom says it was a closet, it has a window and is comfortable, I was happy with it. The house is well equipped and didn't want for anything. The water is potable, but we were happier with bottled water. The view was spectacular from the deck. We used both the paddle boat and kayaks. Thank you for helping us create wonderful memories during our week.

Our family had a blast! Small boats with paddles and life jackets was wonderful. The big open room with kitchen was great for our family. Kitchen was well stocked with appliances. We enjoyed the master bedroom - mattress was great. We are actually looking to get one like it.
No one liked entering the water from the shore but they figured it out with the boats and our paddle boards.
We will probably be back!
PS - loved the big picture of the family!

Great property with plenty of space inside and outside to enjoy quality time together. The home is well equipped with spacious bedrooms, 3 full bathrooms, a well-stocked kitchen, and indoor activities including a ping-pong table, large selection of boardgames, and 2 wonderful livingrooms to kick-back and relax. The peddle-boat, canoes and kyaks along with the outdoor grill, and backyard patio overlooking the lake provided the perfect setting. The one drawback, which we resolved by visiting nearby (13 minute ride) Champlin Park, was that you can’t swim comfortably in the lake. The plant growth in the water, which begins at the shore and extends past the dock, is abundant, and while my son swam out to the middle of the lake surrounded by other family members on the peddleboat and kayak he still found himself swimming up against the plants. Champlin Park in Hammondsport added an extra delight for us ,and the town has great shops, icecream and The Aroma Bakery & Art Cafe, with amazing mediterannean cuisine. If we ever wanted to stay in a home again in the Finger Lakes this will be our go-to!

Remembering Dad
Our stay at Papa’s Paradise followed a memorial service for my 95 year old father on his land in Mansfield. Our grown children and their children stayed with us afterwards on Lake Waneta. The lake views were spectacular. We thoroughly enjoyed our time outside on the lakeside deck and traversing the lake in kayaks, canoe and paddle boat. The house was spacious however cleaning was not thorough. Refrigerator water dispenser and ice dispenser were not operational. Water pressure in first floor bathroom was extremely weak.

Family Time
Nothing fancy. Listing said “Laid Back Home”, and that’s what it was for sure! It was comfortable, well stocked, lots of room in the main house for a wheelchair. Great outside atmosphere, deck and so forth. We had an awesome time and there were 7 of us.

This was our second time at Papas, and we’d do it again in a heartbeat. It is the perfect low-key location, so many wonderful accommodations, lake front, and much more!

Waneta getaway
We enjoyed our retired girls getaway. The cottage was comfortable and quite large. Would be great for families. The ping pong table provided some evening entertainment. It is very convenient and close to Penn Yan, Hammondsport, and Watkins Glen. Wineries everywhere. Since we were visiting on weekdays, some restaurants were closed so good to check ahead.
A memorable few days.

Fantastic House
We all loved this beautiful house. The pictures do not do it justice. Very spacious especially for a group of family like we had. Perfect fit for all.

Beautiful location & wonderful view
We enjoyed our time there, we were looking for a scenic location with plenty of common area for the family & that is what we got.

Great location!
The house and grounds were very nice. The master bath has recently been updated - it’s very nice. The other full bath on the first floor could use an update (particularly the bathtub) but was fine, same for the full bath on the second floor. The private bedroom on the second floor was better than expected (the listing says it was formerly a closet) with a window and space for a dresser. The boat launch was just a couple minutes drive away. The kitchen had everything we needed from coffee maker to lots of pans, dishes, utensils, etc. We truly enjoyed our week. Watkins Glen State Park is a must-see as well as other, closer hikes and creeks.

We found our home!
We all fell in love with this property! This was our third year vacationing in the Finger Lakes with our extended family and until this year we had yet to find our perfect house. Thankfully, we no longer have to keep searching. Everything about this house was perfect. It was airy and spacious but had plenty of private areas as well. The large kitchen had more appliances than I have at home which was a huge surprise. The property is beautiful and the sunsets on the lake did not disappoint. The only thing that we did not like (and is NO reflection on the property or homeowners) was the occasional water snake that would get a little too close to my children who are aged 6, 5 and 3 and freak them out.

Pleasant stay for a weekend wedding
The house had plenty of space (3 private bedrooms with extra bonus room bed space plus 3 bathrooms were key for our rental). The view from the back deck was delightful for the morning coffee! Very easy rental and check in process. The rental had everything needed for the stay. Our young adult kids loved the rope swing, access to the canoe, and the ping pong table. A few repairs needed for better functionality but I trust they will be addressed as we move through post-pandemic and get back to “normal”.

Great house, area and location.
Loved staying here. The owners were very flexible and attentive. Very easy to communicate with. The house was clean and very comfortable for 10 people. Wonderful to have a pool table and other games along with a outside fire place. There are canoes and a paddle boat as well as a local bar down the street. Cute towns about 20 mins away. Would love to stay here again. No complaints.

Family vacation 2020
House size was perfect for 10 people. Loved the open floor plan and views of the water. The area was quiet especially on the weekdays. The water in the house must be well water and the smell was quite strong when showering or washing up (especially since I am pregnant!) Overall we enjoyed our stay.

Family Getaway
House was great, but location near south end of lake was full of algae and thick seaweed. House was fully stocked and the beds were very comfortable, however there was no pullout couch as advertised. Washing machine probably needs replacing as the spin cycle doesn't drain the water properly.

Great place, highly recommended
Overall a great place.
Here's some goods and bads:
Goods:
Clean.
Right on the lake.
Paddle boat and canoes nice to have for lake jaunts.
Pool table/Ping pong table a bonus.
BBQ and grill.
Nice outdoor seating.
Ample space in house with privacy. Our group of 7, including two couples, didn't feel cramped.
House and kitchen is well stocked with stuff.
Farm stands with fresh produce near by.
Amazing views across lake, Sunsets, etc.
Not as goods:
Tons of algae made it impossible to swim off the shore. If you go out a 100 feet or so it clears up.
Noise from jet skis and boats on weekends. Quieter during the week.
Beds weren't very comfortable. Mattresses felt old and mushy.
No kayaks, as the listing said (they might've removed that by now). The canoes were fine, but a bit tippy, especially if there's wake from passing boats.
Overall a good experience. Brian the owner, who lives two doors down, was very welcoming and he and his very nice wife were super helpful and great when my daughter had a sudden medical issue, calling everyone and his uncle for help. Thanks again guys!!

Summer getaway
The property is right on the water so always a beautiful view
We borrowed kayaks and used the paddle boat to enjoy the water
Not great for swimming because of the seaweed
Close by to hiking food stores restaurants and wineries all within a 15 minute drive

Amazing lake view!
We had such a wonderful week at Papa's paradise. The moment you open the curtains and see that awesome lake view is amazing! Joleen was great with questions we had and check in was a breeze. The added bed in the "closet" is a great addition for some privacy. Also, we were pleasantly surprised with the new AC system just installed. We also enjoyed watching the DVD on the history of the house. We spent as much time on the deck enjoying the lake as possible! A couple things I would mention for improvements are back bedroom gets quite warm as the AC didn't reach back there and the shower did not drain well at all. We ended up using the other first floor shower. It has 2 canoes and no kayaks so we had 2 rent them. Refrigerator needs some shelves back on door, they are missing. Overall, these were minor inconveniences as the house was plenty big and the location was awesome. Finger lakes are beautiful and wineries were fun to visit even with the COVID restrictions. Would definitely recommend staying here and we plan to return! Thank you!

Perfect getaway with friends!
We celebrated a 60th birthday this past weekend. The house was perfect! Its huge! It's much larger than it looks in the photos. The house sits steps from the water, we all loved it! 1 of the ladies was wondering if it was available at all next summer as it doesn't look like the calendar is updated for next year.
