About this house rental
This house has two first floor bedrooms, one with twin beds and the other with a queen bed + twin bed. The second floor has bedrooms, one with a king bed and one with a double bed, both looking out to the ocean. There is a half bath on the second floor; a full bath with tub and shower on the first floor; and a covered outside shower.
Two large family rooms provide ample space for everyone to relax and enjoy their favorite activity. Relax in front of the flat screen TV, play your favorite DVDs, or enjoy a board game with family and friends. For readers, a library of books waits for your use in the second floor sitting room. The house is delightfully furnished.
The ocean can be seen from most of the rooms in this oceanfront house situated on a slight bluff with breathtaking panoramic views of South Shore Beach and the Goosewing Nature Preserve. Beyond stretch Cuttyhunk Island and the cliffs of Martha’s Vineyard. Enjoy spectacular sunrises, colorful sunsets, and moonlit nights on the deck spanning the entire oceanfront and side of the home. Fall asleep to the peaceful rhythm of the waves 250 feet from your window. Combine an oceanside experience with your morning coffee or evening lobster bake on the deck, or the kitchen-dining area overlooking the water, or on the sitting rocks along the beach. Fly kites, play croquet or badminton in the expansive yard, or watch ospreys fishing as they travel along the coast that is your front yard.
Explore the historic village of Little Compton and the adjacent towns of Adamville, and Westport, MA. Travel the Coastal Wine Trail, visiting award winning local wineries. Stop at the quaint village of Tiverton Four Corners to browse through more than 20 shops. Sample the surprising variety of restaurants around Little Compton. Complete your day with scoops of ice cream at Gray’s Ice Cream.
This magical setting is a short walk to popular South Shore Beach and Goosewing Beach Preserve, a pristine and scenic 75-acre stretch operated by the Nature Conservancy. Coastal ponds flank both ends of the Preserve, making it one of the top birdwatching spots in the RI. For a change of scene, drive to Horseneck Beach and State Reservation in nearby Westport, MA, one of the most popular facilities in the Massachusetts State Forests and Parks system
Little Compton enjoys warmer water than the rest of New England because Cape Cod blocks the cold Labrador currents from reaching the south facing beaches in RI, allowing warmer water from the Gulf Stream to penetrate the area's waters. As a result, South Shore and Goosewing beaches are popular with swimmers and surfers. We provide enough boogie boards for the entire family, as well as a surfboard for the surfer in the family.

A rustic beauty in a stunning/great location.

Wonderful time at Oceana - a perfect landing pad for a beach vacation. Walking distance to public beach and great views from the house. The owners are fabulous, and quick to respond to any questions. Looking forward to my next stay!

We have rented this property many times over the years and it never disappoints. The views are so amazing and the area very quiet and peaceful. There were 6 of us staying here and plenty of room for all. The house comes with a beach pass which was a nice bonus. The property managers are easy to reach and very responsive. We love the quaintness of Little Compton. It’s also easy to get to Tiverton Four Corners and Westport if we want more activity. Groundswell is a great little restaurant and of course Gray’s ice cream. We discovered Westport Sea Farms for the best lobster rolls. Buzzards Bay Brewing is a fun place too! We love our stays at this house and can’t wait to return!

My family loved staying at Oceana! While the facade looks modest, the interior is lovely and the backyard is spectacular! The bedrooms are restful and the beds are very comfortable. While we were there, a hurricane was far offshore and brought huge waves, a soothing backdrop for sleeping, and a a large group of surfers, sometimes just off the bluff behind the house. The backside deck is wonderful, and the view of the ocean from the house is panoramuc and amazing! The artwork and colors (lots of blues, but other colors too) in the house are very pretty, carefully chosen to create a serene and welcoming atmosphere. Andrea and Gary kindly left us a bottle of wine--so appreciated! Our family would definitely return to this property if our circumstances allow. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there. It was a happy place to relax and have valuable family time. And we so valued the beach pass for South Shore Beach. Many thanks to Gary snd Andrea for sharing their lovely home with us!

As the last reviewer noted, this house is not for spa-seekers or folks of a certain age who care about cleanliness. It's for families with children who are going to spend their time outdoors on the fantastic, giant green lawn, breathing in the salt air from the direct ocean view beyond. Watching swans fly overhead. Tracking hedgehogs. The house was stocked with everthing one could need from games to cookout tools -- and the price seemed pretty darned low should one fill it with six. It's a beach house! With a beach pass included to park at the beach just a half mile (easy walking distance) away. And of course Little Compton is magical -- with the hosts taking time to guide visitors to favorite spots.

The location was perfect for us!! The Atlantic Ocean and South Shore Beach was a short walk or drive away. House was clean and comfortable.

I wanted to love this home. But I feel I have to be transparent about our experience. Upon arriving at the home, we were pleased. The outside and the view is amazing. This house has so much potential. But almost immediately we discovered that the stairs leading to the beach were unusable. Like the bottom 1/3 of the stairs were gone. So no way down. We rented this house specifically for the location on the beach. But ok. Maybe we can skip the beach right in front of the house…. But then I noticed things within the house.. like the fact that the couch in the living room was covered with mold! The couch in the den had cloth napkins covering the arms. I moved them and both arms of that couch were covered in black filth. The blanket covering the body of the couch covered a lot of gross too. In the shower, we discovered that the shower curtain liner was moldy almost 1/2 way up. The stove was filthy. The curtains had dark water spots and mold. The light fixtures were full of dead bugs. The list goes on and on and I have pictures of it all. The owners did agree to refund our money, which I appreciate. But I booked here based on reviews, so I’d like to help someone else know what you’re really getting. I expressed all my concerns to the owners, and they said they were going to order new slipcovers for the couches. Meaning they will cover the mold up! I was also told that any ocean front home will have mold. In my experience that’s not true. For us, not again.

Restful stay on the "quiet side". The house was clean and comfortable. The view, well, hard to beat. Beach a short ride away that offers a reasonably priced weekly parking pass if you drive. We would stay here again.

Great beach house, beautiful property, uncomfortable furniture for the older folks but beds were good

We loved staying in andrea’s charming cottage… it was actually not so small- 4 bedrooms and 2 bath….
But it has a good feeling about it, like a well loved home.- everything felt generous and it was filled with Atlantic inspired art work.
We were very comfortable there and would be happy to stay there again.

We had a wonderful stay at Oceana, the owners were friendly and easy to get a hold of. The house was clean and comfortable. The view is absolutely stunning! We enjoyed relaxing on the deck, enjoying the sun rise and watching the boats and birds along the water. Little Compton is also a gem of a town, quiet and beautiful - the farm down the road was a perfect place to grab some local veggies /eggs and homemade bread. The beach - just a mile down the road - is a ton of fun - the kids loved boogie boarding! We would absolutely stay here again!!!

We've stayed here several times before and always enjoyed it. It is a chance for us to get together with many old friends from Little Compton and Rhode Island in general. Unfortunately, this visit we picked up covid in the airport and had to self isolate for most of our stay. On the other hand there couldn't have been a lovelier place to spend this time together. Gary and Andrea were supportive and understanding.
This is a tremendous location close to the beach and with an unmatched Vista. Little Compton is beautiful and a wonderful place to bike ride.
It's highly recommended which is why we've come back several times.

We loved this home! The views were incredible and the large yard and deck made for a perfect location for our family to gather! We loved the outdoor shower and the many beach chairs/toys! Very cozy inside! We will be back!

The Oceana was perfect for our family! The neighborhood is super quiet, you feel like you have the whole ocean to yourself in the backyard. Our stay was fantastic and we’ll be trying to snag another booking here next summer! Note that the beach for swimming is a short walk away for adults and teens, but if you’re traveling with small children, it’s probably not realistic to walk. Can’t get enough of the beach roses and honeysuckle on the property!

Four of us had an enjoyable, peaceful stay in this lovely house by the sea. We were greeted with a bottle of wine and found everything to be clean and thoughtfully considered.
Many spaces allowed us the privacy to write, read, and think, to be alone or with each other. A binder was full of complete suggestions for using the house and nearby shopping, restaurants, and places of historical interest.
We ate in several terrific local restaurants and shopped in a good local fish market, a general store, and a large supermarket.
To visit in May is to risk days of overcast, foggy weather along with the noise of spring lawnmowers and home repairs being made in the neighborhood. But to see a pair of snow geese fly on several occasions between house and sea made up for it. Our hosts were lovely and very responsive . All in all, a sweet, much-needed break from a troubled world. Thank you.

Plenty of room (s) to spread out (Ie puzzle table, tv room, reading couches, front porch rockers) as well as to come together (large living room with fireplace, patio table deck area and huge yard). Quiet area with not much to do in local vicinity but easy drive to Newport. We had beautiful weather so for a relax vacation it was perfect

Great location, comfortable surroundings. We had a wonderfully relaxing week. Thank you.

We loved our stay at this property. The lawn is expansive and lush, the views are breathtaking, and the location is unbeatable. We enjoyed ambling down to the town beach and playing in the waves at Goosewing, taking long runs around the area, and playing wiffleball in the backyard. The only downside was that the house was not in great shape, and the bathrooms and kitchen especially were meager. We were surprised to find these to be so at this price point. That said, we had a wonderful week, but if you are looking for nice appliances/bathrooms, this is not your spot.

Loved our stay at Oceana. Beautiful property, great location, well appointed with everything you need. The owners were lovely and quickly responded to any questions we had.

The gem of this property was the view and the backyard. The layout of the house was conducive for our large group. The neighborhood was quiet and safe, and our grandchildren enjoyed riding their bikes around the pebbled roads. Nice short ride to the beach, too.
I think the pictures of the property were very dated. The interior was well worn and full of mold. The cover on the sofa had visible mold as did the floor of the bathroom and other places where the fabric had not been washed or changed in some time.
The kitchen counter was stained beyond cleaning and was falling apart around the edges. Every time we used the paper towels, the underneath of the cupboard above, shed tiny pieces of particle board. Many of the utensils were unusable. ( Potato masher was rusted beyond using and the can opener was broken.)
There were old candles on the window sill above the sink with bugs melted in the wax. The light above the dining room table was very dusty. The stove wasn't deep enough to hold a cookie sheet.
The outdoor shower, while convenient, contained electrical that was not up to code. There was even a sign near the light that asked that when you turned the light on to make sure your hands were dry! The curtains within the outdoor shower were completely stained and moldy.
The linens were old and some of it was pilled and stained, and don't get me started on the pillows! Completely stained with I don't know how many pints of drool and sweat etc.
I understand that a home on the coast is going to be damp etc. Clearly nothing had been done to mitigate the moisture and mold in years.
And, this has nothing to do with the owners, but the beach was small and filled with rocks. There was very little sand on which the kids could play.
I so wanted to love this place because the owners were highly responsive and communicative, but for the cost of the rental, I believe more attention to the home environs should be a priority.

The property was as described. The oceanfront location was great for just watching waves. The teen boys spent hours at the water, climbing on the boulders and throwing rocks into the ocean.
You can walk or bike to the beach for free. If you want to drive and park it's $15 for a weekday and $20 for a weekend. We did some of each. The waves and boogie boarding were great!
Everyone loved the charm of the house. The stove and oven in the kitchen are small, the counter is stained. The blinds in the family room were very dusty. We were fine with that - just keep in mind that this is not one of the newly renovated pristine granite-countertop type places.
The internet worked well - and we had 8 devices connected at one point!
The stairs to the beach are nice and wide and not steep. Halfway down there is a bench - great for reading or just watching the waves. There is also a gate with a lock at the top of the stairs (good to know if you are bringing little ones and want to ensure that they do not go to the water without adults.)
The outdoor shower was the best we've ever had! (And we've rented places with outdoor showers from Maine through Florida all the way to Belize and Costa rica!)
2.5
The location and views could not be better. The house is inviting and comfortable. The porch and backyard are spacious and the outdoor shower is marvelous. Andrea & Gary are wonderful hosts who clearly take pride in their beach home, as they should.
2.5
We can’t thank the owners enough for sharing this piece of heaven with us. From waking up to the most amazing views, to walking the beach and collecting shells and sea glass.... it is the absolute perfect place to forget all your stresses and enjoy life. Gary and Andrea could not have been more welcoming, communicative, or amazing. I just wish we never had to leave!
