About this bed and breakfast
I have lived in Alaska for 40 years and traveled by dog sled, kayak, small plane and boat throughout the state. I have been hosting guests from around the world since 2006, and love telling folks about Alaska. My sled dog Vincent is often available to be admired and petted if you've left your own pets at home and are in need of a "dog fix". Feasting on the homemade heirloom sourdough waffles is also a special treat!
You do need your own transportation to stay here. There are no shuttles or taxis.
Rooms are large and filled with natural light in a space made for mountain living. When it’s time to retire from the day, unwind in the open and airy living room and enjoy the panoramic views from large picture windows.
The bedroom offers a sumptuous Queen-size bed, complete with a down comforter and loads of fluffy pillows. A living room sofa also unfolds into an inviting Queen-size bed.
The fully equipped kitchen has spices, oils, teas and coffee (any mode you want to make it – drip, French press, programmable coffee maker) as well as flour and popcorn.
You will also find all the fixings for traditional sourdough waffles. A hands-on experience, you are provided with everything you need to make your own delicious sourdough waffles! Sourdough was a staple in Alaska history and this heirloom sourdough comes with a fascinating history you can read about at Alaska’s Golden Spoon. (It is also featured in The Homesteader’s Handbook by Tricia Brown)
The laundry room is equipped with a state-of-the-art washer and dryer, and laundry soap. The bathroom is stocked with towels, soap, shampoo and toilet paper – and even bubble bath for those inclined!
The artwork that graces the walls are pieces I have collected since coming to Alaska in 1981. (and I love telling stories about every one of them!) A brochure with a brief history of each piece will make you too fall in love with the great artists of the Last Frontier!
Hi-speed Internet and a large collection of Alaskan books will round out your entertainment needs.
GUEST ACCESS
You will have access to the entire upstairs of the house. The downstairs garage is merely storage and cleaning supplies, which we respectfully request no entrance.
INTERACTION WITH GUESTS
I live in a small cabin on the property. You can reach me by text or phone. I usually work mornings guiding tours in the park, and am usually available to answer questions or offer advice on the local area in the late afternoon and evenings.
Contrary to most vacation rentals, there are NO additional cleaning fees on this property!
Savor your own fresh prepared meals at home or visit one of the locally owned restaurants that abound. In fact, the renowned 229 Parks Restaurant & Tavern is just a short drive away – but be sure and make reservations well advance.
Minutes away, Denali National Park offers visitors a variety of options from hikes to tours to experiences that will last a life time.

My family of 4 adults stayed in house for 3 nights. It has open floor plan and family room view was spectacular. Location was convenient it just10 min drive to Denali bus depot. A cozy and well maintained house. Lisa was a great host. Definitely, one of the few top houses we have rented so far..

We stayed at Alaskan Elegance during our visit to Denali National Park and this place hosted by Lisa is a little piece of heaven. Nestled in the beautiful Alaskan wilderness but this is close to the National Park and all Attractions. The host is amazing and an absolute inspiration whose passion for gardening, interior design, story telling and her love of dogs. Her life story is depicted in her art collection and books she wrote. A true blissful hide away from the busy city life. I would absolutely love to visit this place again. Thank you Lisa for hosting us. We cherished our time there.

This property is perfect for those that want to get away and enjoy Alaska. Very peaceful and quiet location that is away from all the noise, traffic and busy hubbub of the touristy Denali village area. You really feel like you have the wilderness all around you.
The host is fantastic. She did an excellent job of welcoming us and making us feel very comfortable in a property that she obviously cares very much about. She is also very responsive to questions and any concerns that come up. Not to mention she is a very interesting person with many interesting things to tell.
The only negative (if you can call it that) is that you will need a car. There is no way to make it to anything without one. It is at least a few miles to everything. Which did not impact our visit at all. It was exactly what we were looking for on our trip. But others might not prefer the added travel.
I would stay again without hesitation.

We greatly enjoyed our stay for two nights in July. The location was great and the owner was very responsive and helpful. It is very close to the entrance to Denali national park but in a secluded and quiet location. I was pleasantly surprised to find a well stocked kitchen with spices, flour, etc. Be sure to check before bringing in the basics. The only downside was Google maps got us to the right street but not exactly to the house. Overall, this place was very nice and I would highly recommend to anyone visiting Denali.

Lisa’s property was cozy and a great place to stay while visiting Denali. It was easy to get to and close to everything. She left us a nice welcome gift which we thought was a sweet touch. We’d definitely stay there again!

Our 4th time here at Denali Park Place. Had a wonderful time again. Easy drive to park entrance or glitter gulch (town/resort area). Very clean. Slept great even though never gets dark this time of year. Kitchen complete with every thing (we like to cook most of our own meals). Great to come ‘home’ to a cozy, very quiet apartment after a long day hiking or taking bus tours into the park . We will return again in a few years. The best of several places we have stayed near Denali. Just be aware there is a steep staircase to the apartment .

Every convivence, beautiful views and peacefully quiet. An ideal place to stay that is close enough to Denali Park and other attractions yet far enough away that you are in your own little hide away. Wouldn't hesitate staying again. Lisa is a great host who cares about her guest.

Comfortable apartment 15 minutes south of Denali with well organized kitchen. Several little gifts to enhance our stay. Many Alaskan resources to read and artwork to enjoy! Only hiccup was directions said Trail and road sign said Loop. Will stay there again when we go back!

We had an absolutely wonderful time at Lisa's place. Just down the road from Denali National Park with all the comforts of home and then some! Lisa was half the adventure for us as we devoured her book on running the Iditarod while staying at her place. Even saw some of the dogs running by one morning on a practice run! 10/10 recommend, would absolutely stay again.

Staying here makes you feel like you know Alaska better than when you arrived. Everything you need is there and tastefully done. Lisa puts her heart and love of this land into a VRBO in a way I have not seen done before. Stay here and you will be glad you did!

It is a lovely, exceptionally well equipped and stocked, place. Very clean and comfortable. Lisa is a very responsive and helpful host. And an amazing person too - we were so excited to meet her. Our daughter was most happy to be able to play with her dog and meet a puppy from a nearby kennel. We also attended a dog show there - highly recommend!

Our family of 4 really enjoyed our stay at this property. Located just a few miles from the Denali park entrance, it was convenient enough to reach the national park easily but is a distance away to have a much more private, serene setting. Everything inside was clean and as advertised. Highly recommended!

We stay there for two nights. The owner is a good communicator, and gave us very detailed instructions upfront. The house is clean and well organized.

We stayed for two nights while visiting Denali and it was perfect! The location is great, the vibe is outstanding and the few times we heard sled dogs it was amazing! The home was super clean, well laid out and full of thoughtful amenities. Stay here, you will love it!!!

We really enjoyed our stay! Great location and views - not far from Denali Park and other excursions such as flight seeing and one of the mushing kennels. Also, the restaurants near by were delicious especially Creekside. The home is set up with all the essentials and then some! Certainly made our vacation one of our favorites. Lisa is super sweet and a great communicator! As my son said this is a 6 out of 5 star!

Property was wonderful - very clean, spacious and great location to both Denali National and State parks. Kitchen amenities were great - the gift and sourdough starter were an added bonus! Kids loved fresh sourdough pancakes in the morning! Thanks for sharing your home with us Lisa!!

Beautiful, airy unit with views out each window.
Kitchen, bath, and laundry are beautifully appointed & immaculate. The host has put great care into the
space and is a real detail person. Enjoy beautiful Denali at this great property!

Loved this property! It is decorated so nice and inviting! We loved feeling like a local! Mountain view out each window and a natural environment! Close to Denali National Park entrance. Property owner and manager are wonderful! Thank you for allowing us to stay in this gem!!!
10.0
The property was nice and what we needed. The host was very hospitable. The host reminds me of how home share / vacation rentals began. There was a small welcome gift and a note. There was no LONG list of things that must be done upon checkout.
This is rural Alaska and there were a couple of requests to follow for the house and that is super reasonable.
The pantry had a few staples in it, which is so nice. The freezer had ICE CUBES!!! It may sound like a small thing, but for me it is one of the reasons (ice cubes and laundry) that I like a home over a hotel.
The one drawback would be there were no blackout shades. I have been to Alaska during perpetual light before and actually brought my own. It would just be a nice addition.
This property and its host is the experience the industry should be providing.
Job well done.

Outstanding and beautiful property. The apartment in person is much nicer and larger than it appears online. I’ve stayed in a lot of rental properties, but I’ve never had one so thoroughly equipped with items. Coffee, tea, A LOT of cooking items, and an entirely stocked spice rack.
Another underrated thing I liked about this place is the covered front patio, which seems rare to have in the area. So, when it rains, which is does quite often in the area, you can still sit outside and enjoy being in the wilderness or listing to the area dog sled dogs howl (don’t worry, you can’t hear them while inside, and they’re not howling often. But when then do, it’s actually pretty cool. Listening to them just screams “Alaska”). I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.
