Highly Recommend
Staying at Il Bacio was everything my family and I imagined it would be and more. We came as a family of 12 and rented the entire villa (all 4 apartments) it was perfect! The property is beautiful and picturesque. Set in a semi remote area but accessible to local and major cities/sites by car ranging from 10-45 mins depending on where we went. Sonia and Franco are perfect hosts! They had groceries for us upon our arrival, made us several dinner recommendations and reservations, and provided a wine tasting and tour of their facilities. They take pride in their land and properties cleaning and tending to them every morning. My only regret is that we didn’t stay longer. Grazie mille Sonia e Franco, tutto bellissimo!

Sonia and Franco were wonderful hosts!
A fantastic, relaxing place to stay. Quiet and welcoming. The wine was some of the best we had on our trip. We would recommend to anyone who is looking for a relaxing holiday in the Tuscan countryside!

a wonderful family and farm in a great location
The location is wonderful. It is in rolling hill country with vineyards, olive orchards, and centuries’ old stone houses dotting the landscape. The grounds around the house and farm buildings is immaculately groomed with flowers, bushes, etc. Our apartment (we stayed in Legnaia) was simple but clean, pleasant and functional. It has terracotta floors and stone exterior walls. Even during 90 degree days we could shut the windows and stay comfortable, and then open them up again in the evening to cool down the apartment. The beds were very basic, but comfortable. Both bedrooms had chests of drawers that were adequate. The rooms are too small for a sitting chair or desk. The kitchen, dining area, and sitting area are all in one medium size room. The dining table seated four. The kitchen had a four burner gas stove and a microwave, but no oven or toaster oven. There was a small full-size refrigerator/freezer, but no dishwasher. But it was sufficient that we cooked all our dinners in the kitchen. There is an old style drying rack in the cupboard next to the sink. The bathroom has a shower stall, toilet, bidet and sink. It is small but functional. Although the apartment is quite small, two small terracotta patios have arbors provide shade above them (but no roof to provide shelter from rain). One patio had seating for two. Franco and Sonia, the owners, are delightful, as is their son Daniele who gave us the tour of the wine cellar. They gave us free samples of several wines which ranged from very good to excellent. The entire farm provides a deep sense of serenity and harmony between man and nature. This is a very special place, lovingly cared for. Yes, it would be nice to have larger apartments with more amenities, but it was a tradeoff I was more than happy to make. I will never forget the week our family spent there.

Wonderful stay in Tuscany
We had a very pleasant stay with Sonia, Franco and family at Il Bacio (The Kiss) in Tuscany. We stayed in the Pergola apartment for 6 nights. The room was comfortable with a nice view, a small living room and kitchen area and an outside terrace with table and chairs. Four family cats would come to visit with us at various times (we had bought some treats for them at the local supermarket) and Agata the family dog was a cuddly giant. Their two donkeys (Nucia and Violetta) loved to eat as much stale bread as you would give to them.
Il Bacio has 30 acres and makes organic wine, and has olive and walnut trees. Franco will give you a tour of his winery and also give you tips for sightseeing. His tip for parking in Sienna was a godsend.
You really need a car if you want to see the sights. We went to Pisa, Luca, Volterra, Sienna, Greve in Chianti, San Gimignano and several other amazing places. Strongly recommend a GPS as it makes the driving so easy - lots of lovely back roads through amazing countryside. After Il Bacio we went to stay in Florence for 4 nights - no car needed once there.
Il Bacio is a couple of miles from Tavernelle where you can find the local Coop supermarket. They have a really nice grappa di moscato for seven euros!
Thank you Sonia and Franco for making our stay so memorable.
